First of all, production values are terrible. The script is mumbling and bumbling and the interviews dire. The director makes no attempt to dig deeper into Maradona stupid ideas or actions and just lets him talk. Rambling about how Prince Charles was dying to meet him and Maradona said no. Really? I doubt if PC even knows who you are. And then there's his take on the Falklands (surprised he doesn't call it Malvinas) he completely ignores that it was his country who started a war and then got their asses handed to them. It was the Argentine government who sold out his country not the British. Then he tries to pretend he is a champion of the people. He goes back to visit his old slum house where young children still play in the dirt. With just one months pay cheque he could have saved those children and his old village from poverty. Did he? Does he? No. He prefers to put it up his nose. In the end all this film did was reassure me what I always thought. Maradona is a self obsessed, egotistical, drug fuelled, selfish pig. Trading on the fame that European football clubs gave him. Now he lives his life back in Argentina and as has been proved by the recent World Cup, just about the only place that will have him. Far from a FIFA embassador the guy is a disgrace to football. And for the record the second goal he scored against England has aged as badly as him. It's not that great. No tackles went in on him and he only really went past 3 people. One of which was on a yellow card and could not tackle. He made his goal record mostly against rubbish teams too. So in conclusion if you want to watch a badly shot, badly presented pile of sycophantic idiots follow a has been around Argentina waiting for him to die... this is the film for you. Everyone else... avoid.
Chow can do no wrong. His style and sense of humour are amazing and very rewarding. Anyone knocking this gem of a film honestly has nothing in their soul. It's well acted, funny, unpredictable and a delight. The only negative is that it's not in English so the subtitles can't do some if the comedy justice. You can tell sometimes what they were trying to do and in Chinese I'm sure it's hillarious but we westerners can only play subtitle catchup. I love all of Stephens films. This isn't as good as Kung fu hustle or shaolin soccer even but those are 9s and 10s. I thouroughly enjoyed the time spent with this movie and can't wait to watch the sequel.
This is the kind of short film students make who really have very little experience of film making or directing... anyth8ng good that is. And what a waste as the production values are obviously way and above average. But this is THE CLAS#IC mistake of new film makers. The script and story suck. It's all about 'hey look at us and how clever we are with effects. Doesn't it look great', meanwhile there's no real story and at 10 mins this in unforgivable. It's also not well directed with hardly a decent camera shot or imaginative framing in the whole piece. I've no idea who these people are but ultimately this piece is a waste of time nd money. Maybe the computer designers will get a job but this does nothing for anyone else who gave up their time. And boy there were a ton of people who worked on this. However this project serves as THE PERFECT example to film students on not what to do with a year of your time. Instead concentrate on a good script, a great story and find a handful of great actors and film something in a basement on a mobile phone and trust me it will be infinitely better time spent than this. What a waste,
