I watched this last night. Couldn't turn it off. I grew up in Seattle, military family, so I thought everyone got to see the daring & beautiful Blue Angels every summer. Eh, what's an 8 yr old know? We were transferred to Europe for a few years & I really missed seeing them.
This doc took me back to my childhood, while filling my brain with the ins, outs & works of this amazing team. When I saw it was a Bad Robot production, I knew it would be done right.
Definitely worth at least one watch, but I'll be back again, over & over. There could be a child in your home who may have the spark of being a jet pilot & watching this could give them a life choice. If I were a few decades younger, who knows. This doc is definitely inspiring & I gave it a 10 because it deserves it.
I eventually resettled in Seattle & have once again been able to watch the Blue Angels flying over Lake Washington💕 And to ALL current, former and future BA team members.... Thank you for your service, it's very much appreciated!!

No Spoilers......
Having been in high school and very aware when the heartbreakingly shocking "Tate murders" occurred, watching this movie had me concerned and I put off watching it for a long time. There are things you just don't want to relive, like vids of the Challenger explosion or planes crashing into the WTC. It's not that I keep my head in a bag, it's just that some events cause memories I don't particularly want to relive.
QT's films generally contain a lot of violence..... Having said that, I'm so glad now that I finally gave in and decided to watch this film. It's as good as they say and the last 20 min or so .....well...you'll just have to watch it yourself.
I highly recommend it. Brad Pitt is at his best 'most beautiful' here.

Well, I'm stunned at the ratings. This version of Matilda is the absolute best yet! Emma Thompson is just great as the horrible 'Miss Trenchbull'. Scary for sure! The role of Matilda is played by an adorable actress, Alisha Weir, who fits the role of the unwanted/unloved child genius perfect. I actually loved her singing voice. I know this was a West End & Broadway musical (won tons of awards!) but kid actors tend to grow up, so there have been many actresses playing this part. Personally, I really liked this Matilda (which is not in any way to downgrade Mara Wilson in the last Matilda I saw).
The parents (ahem) & MissTrunchbull are decidedly unlikeable, as is canon.
The songs/music were written by Tim Minchin, who won a bunch of awards for it, deservedly! They are brilliant.
My personal opinion: I can't get enough of this film. I mean, Tim Minchin's songs/lyrics are marvelous! (I'm wishing that the "Wonka" producers maybe should've talked to him to do the songs for the new Wonka movie, (also a Roald Dahl story), which I had been very much looking forward to, but was basically & sadly, underwhelmed. ) The choreography is pretty much freaking mind blowing. I can't imagine teaching 10 kids to do very creative moves in unison, much less the hundred or so kids in this version. I love Roald Dahl's stories, but Matilda wasn't one of my favorites, until I watched this. I even have the soundtrack in my Apple Music library.
E v e r y o n e plays (dances & sings) their parts beautifully!
It's sitting on Netflix at the moment and I hope it stays there.
I've seen YT vids with Tim and some of the 'Matilda's' singing (Naughty) and even they are enjoyable to watch. He has such a quirky and entertaining way with lyrics.
Looking for a fun way to spend 2 hrs? Watch this, enjoy it, then watch it again....and again ;)
(WHEN you watch it, put the captions on for at least one viewing to catch all the lovely, sneaky, clever lyrics.)
Some are a riot!
Highly recommended!
