When i heard they were making a movie about Phillip Pullman's Golden Compass, i was extremely excited. Then i heard nicole kidman was going to be in it and my heart sunk. I am not a nicole kidman fan at all. Phillip Pullmans books were amazing. But the actors that were chosen to portray his characters were awful. 1) Lyra did not look at all like i thought she was going to look, the actress that plays her was horrible, it was like she was just reading a script the whole time, she was very unconvincing. 2) Lord Asril was not at all how i expected either. 3) The guy from ghost rider was a poor choice as all i could think about was how he was in that movie. 4) the golden monkey is supposed to be a feared character but ended up looking completely ridiculous. The movie looked incredible, the graphics were impressive. nicole kidman actually ended up giving a good performance. overall i think the girl who played Lyra dragged the whole movie down and i believe if there is no sequel then it will be because of her. i strongly recommend that if they do decide to tell the rest of the story they should recast lyra.
corner gas is about a small town the hub of the town being the gas station/coffee shop diner.the main characters a couple police,2 gas station attendance,a diner owner, the gas station attendance's parents and a goof off with no job.i watched the first 3 seasons with pleasure.i found the show was exactly like the small Saskatchewan town i grew up in. it was witty and very accurate in the portrayal of small town life. but i believe the show has run its course and is losing momentum. I'm finding the story lines to be boring and uninteresting. its getting boring watching them try and come up with things to do in a gas station/diner.
this was by far one of the best movies i have ever watched.i had high expectations for this movie and was not disappointed. it was a moving and tragic portrayal of a horrific event in Canadian history. As your watching it's hard to believe that it actually happened, i kept thinking about how horrible it was. i found it was a very well made movie.it kept my attention through out, there was rarely a dull moment, full of action, emotion, excitement and anticipation. i could barely wait for the commercials to be over so i could get back into the movie to see what was going to happen next. by the end i was moved to tears. i highly recommend this movie.
