La piscine (1969)
Exhaustingly boring
I found this movie so boring, that I almost slept in the middle of it. Not even Alain Delon, with his charm and sexiness, could distract me enough to bear with it. Neither did his supposed romance with Romy Schneider, or Jane Birkin later in the movie, whose only cotribution to it was that they where beautiful and half naked most of the time. Even they seemed to be bored, and they very convincingly passed that on to me. No passion, no chemistry, nothing. Not even jealusy, just the exchanging of some scorn looks. So very "civilised", that I am wondering if there was any real passion between them, or just the compromise of a relationship with someone you take for granted. Most of the movie goes like that. Bored people doing nothing. Swimming in the pool, eating, drinking and sleeping, having sex maybe (I am not so sure about that though). Which is very OK when you are on vacation, but you don't have to make a movie about it. Only Maurice Ronet, who played Jane Birkin's father, seemed to realise how boring all this was, and tried to have some other fun activities, away from the house. I didn't like him though, he was smiling like an idiot all the time. Romy Scneider too.
As a matter of fact, I didn't like any of them.
Even the murder is boring. I was looking forward to it the whole time, as something that would stir the boredome away, something interesting and thrilling. But no...The murder, the funeral, a rather uninteresting murder investigation and that's that.
In conclusion, an exhaustingly boring movie, that lost me two hours of my life.
Man of God (2021)
The heartbreaking story of a holy man
Beautiful movie, about a person who was the incarnation of the teaching of Christ. Aris Servetalis was perfect as Agios Nectarios. His performance was astouning and very persuasive. Other actors that I think also stood out, were Christos Loulis, as the President of Risario School, Alexander Petrov as Kostas and Karyofyllia Karabeti as the mother of Maria (Tonia Sotiropoulou), even though she appeared in three scenes only!
The transformation of Servetalis through the years that passed was amazing! Costumes were great. The music was also very beautiful and added spirituality to the movie's atmoshphere.
The only thing than I found odd from time to time, was the language. I think that english didn't always sound so natural and I feel that some actors would perform better in their native language. The alternative would be to have more rehearsals, until they owned their lines better.
How I Met Your Mother: Last Forever: Part Two (2014)
Is this an April fool's joke?
Just to explain myself, I have to say that I love that series. I love it! So much that I didn't want it to end. I almost cried when I saw that the last episode was on. But it had to end someday, so OK, I can live with that.In general, I liked the 9nth season. Though I would prefer it to be more about Ted's and Tracy's relationship and less about Barney's and Robin's wedding, but, I could live with that too, since more episodes were cool to super-cool. I was expecting the last episode to be the best. Except it wasn't...Instead, the last episode ruined everything, not only season 9 but the whole series! Not only you killed the woman that was Ted's love of life (ok, death is part of our lives, I could accept that), not only you just referred to her death as it was just another moment of Ted's story (no mourning at all? come oooon), BUT you had to make him chaise Robin again? Why did you have to do that? Why, why, why? What were you thinking? So, she meant nothing to him? All his years with her he had Robin in his mind and so when she dies and Robin is divorced they can conveniently get back together? This is a disgrace for Ted, Tracy and their story. You ruined EVERYTHING for me. Unless you wanted to make it easier for the fans to get over the end of the series, in which case you did a great job... Bravo! Are you sure this is not an April fool's joke? This is my only hope for a better last episode! Please, make it a joke!
