Mimi (2021)
Loved it
Mimi' is a well written, well made film which carries a heart.
Story revolves around the surrogate mother whose biological parents abandon the surrogacy and the struggle she goes through.
Kriti Sanon may have a ton of films under her wings that shows off her glamour but this definitely proves she's more than just the pretty face. Perhaps the first time she's going to be loved as an actress, instead of a model.
Pankaj Tripathi , as usual is at his best as a character that drives the story initially and later adds humour and fun when the plot gets tense.
Evelyn and Aiden, instead of being a usual 'english couple in Indian film' did invest emotionally as the chatacters who wants a kid. Evelyn did an amazing job especially in the latter half of the film.
RangiTaranga (2015)
Loved it. Awesome
There are horror movies which offer mainly jumpscares and there are some which will be haunting even after the movie. And then there's this new wave called RangiTaranga - which offers brilliant jump-scares and leaves you haunting even after you come out of the theatre. Not many movies can do that. RangiTaranga doesn't stick to one genre. Director Anup bhandari has played with the genres according to the neatly written and twisted but brilliant screenplay.
The good news is Rangitaranga satisfies all kinds of audience be it frolic seeking janata or experience seeking world cinema followers. While normal audience can soak in the brilliant BGM and the creepy scares with frequent twists, the latter who can appreciate the technicality and the writing of the movie! There are actually more than one story to this movie. The main plot is about the haunted house 'Kamaruttu' and the theories and mysteries surrounding it! Like other movies even this had a similar format but interesting thing about this is the premise. It's surely something new to our audience and there's a lot of detail involved. And the director establishes some really good things and characters in the premise that keeps you thinking. Another story is about Gautham(Nirup bhandari) and Indu(Radhika Chetan) who come to Kamaruttu for a different purpose. And they have their own dark past to worry about. And the final arc is about Sandhya(Avanthika Shetty) looking for a writer called Anashku, who also heads to the same place.
Kaththi (2014)
Great experience. Loved it. Awesome time
A Diwali treat from Ilayathalapathy. Superb songs nice action. Beautiful songs and a thought provoking social message..Vijay as a hero carries the entire movie on his shoulders. Vijay's comedy timing is better than Sathish..Neil Nithin Mukesh Villain ism is a new Genere in Tamil cinema. Neil Nitin does a fabulous job as villain.last but not the least Anirudh. Anirudh Bgm is Mind-blowing.to be frank mass Bgm Mass. George Williams cinematography is outstanding.flash back scene is bit dragging but that's the soul of the story.well obviously it's a dark, intense and sensitive content.you cannot expect a edge gripping screenplay actually it has.but most of the viewers will surely watch with the movie with the mindset of Thupakki which is an Uncomparable all-time blockbuster.the movie technically sounds great. You can Witness a quality and visual sparkles in the movie.top notch Dialogues and of course it's an arm movie .
Ab Tak Chhappan (2004)
Loved it. Awesome
An excellent movie and a definite must see. Great plot, screenplay, direction and cast - with just the right amount of Nana. Goes to show that Bollywood can produce movies of cinematic brilliance second to none. I saw shades of Training Day in the beginning of this movie corrupt cop showing the ropes to a rookie cop but the similarities ended there. IMHO, Nana did a way more credible job than Denzel's overhyped and overrated Oscar winning performance. A very serious and realistic movie, but not very dark and it did not treat the subject with a heavy-hand. I think this was why the movie moved along at a good pace, and always kept the viewer involved. Gets bonus points for having a white person on screen that can actually speak English if you've heard white people speak English in Hindi movies, you know what I'm talking about. A very solid.
Mumbai Police (2013)
Loved it. Awesome
Mumbai Police is a revelation. I cannot proclaim it to be the best thriller I have seen, but it has to be applauded for what it tries to accomplish. Roshan Andrews has gone a notch above the standard genre fare we have come to expect in Indian thrillers and gave us something which will, in turns, haunt and genuinely surprise. This is in no small part to the accomplished writing duo of Bobby-Sanjay and the brilliant Prithviraj.
ACP Anthony Moses (Prithvi) is just about to solve a crime and report it to his boss, Farhan (Rehman), when he is caught in a bad accident which leaves him without any memory of his past. Farhan tries to help him jog his memory and get the name of the culprit, but Anthony has no clue to his past or to his impending future. However, his reflexes and training from his previous life are still in tact and he realizes he would need to use these to piece both his life and the case together again. The crime is of a very personal nature to both the officers, as it involves the murder of their colleague and close friend, ACP Aryan John Jacob (Jayasurya) while he was receiving a gallantry award. Together, the trio had been known as the 'Mumbai Police' owing to their earlier presence in the Mumbai police department. As Anthony re-pieces together the jigsaw, he realizes everything is not as it would seem and the seemingly bizarre directions and conflicts the investigation takes as opposed to the initial attempts in the case alienates his team and further confuses his already addled mind. All this ultimately leads up to a climax which can only be termed as amazingly bold and genuinely shocking in its denouement.
Okkadu (2003)
Awesome. Loved it
It is a landmark
I have read the earlier comment on this movie and felt unconvinced. This is the landmark movie ever made in Telugu film industry. Each scene in this movie is a trend setting one....after okkadu, around 10-15 movies were made by taking okkadu as inspiration or as imitation.... I can explain each scene in this movie can create a story ...a new story.... Even gunashekhar and mahesh combo couldn't repeat a movie like okkadu...I hope it takes around 15-20 years to get a masterpiece like okkadu, even the biggest hit pokiri could not compete with the quality and grace of okkadu. Frankly I have not seen a Telugu film....which has a chase of around 25 min. With an ultimate tempo and I like the links between scenes and liveliness of the characters. Leave music, mahesh and bhoomika aside, the ideas of gunashekhar.....hats off to his ideas...as I said it is a masterpiece and I dare to compare it with ever greens like pathala bhairavi, mayabazar and sholay.
Lakshya (2004)
Loved it
I'm the kind of guy who enjoys mindless action movies as well as movies that are intelligent,sensitive&thought-provoking. Lakshya falls in the latter category. The promos were slick and the music sounded good. But when i read the box-office report on this movie i was surprised at the lukewarm response this movie got because i thought this movie would be a runaway hit. However what can people like us do when such gifted film-makers like Farhan Akhtar are discouraged because their movies don't spoon-feed facts to the audience. But all said and done,This is among my personal favourites and i'm giving it a 10/10.2004 has produced some mature and intelligent movies like Lakshya,Yuva,Hum Tum,Swades etc and i'm happy that film-makers are growing up. This movie inspired me a lot and has played a role in me realising the truth that we should always have an aim in life because a life without an aim is like a body minus the soul.
English Vinglish (2012)
Loved the performance of Shri Devi
"If we don't love ourselves we use to attract towards new things but as soon as we began to love ourselves we feel confident and old things look prettier again." This is one dialogue from the movie's lead protagonist which teaches how one can come back to his normal life; English Vinglish is a sweet Laddu with almonds of a logical script, cashew nuts of nice music, raisins of love and pistachios of Hope. English Vinglish is not about just English classes, it's just a metaphor or platform to narrate a simple yet very effective story of self determination, self respect and love about family and love about ourselves.
English Vinglish is undoubtedly a movie about the Family, the children & their attitude towards their parents, the husband who does not see his wife skills and potential beyond a born Laddu Maker and yes, it's about a mother who lost her identity as a woman in the society after marriage being a house wife, as her world does not go beyond her family.
Shashi Godbole (Sridevi) is a simple middle class housewife living with her husband Satish (Adil Hussain) along with her daughter Sapna and a son named Sagar in Pune, India. She is an excellent cook searching for her own respect among children and husband due to poor understanding of English language. One day she got the call from her sister to visit New York to attend her daughter's wedding, but she was reluctant to go alone because of her poor English language, thou she finally agreed on her husband's persuasion.
Ankhon Dekhi (2013)
Awesome Movie of all time
Simplicity can never be a passé. A whole generation still connects to the "Ta Na Na Ta Na Na" of Malgudi Days. R. K Narayan Ki duniya talked about the real India, some simple people, their life & its ordeal.
Rajat Kapoor's refreshingly eccentric yet gimmick-less (even hype-less) "Ankho Dekhi" is kind of a dejavu of Malgudi Days. The film revolves around Bauji who lives in his own ideological world & believes in inherent goodness of people. But he isn't gullible person & believes only in "Ankho Dekhi". And in a moment of realization he literary sets on to a journey whereby he decides that he will only believe what he can see for himself. From religion to education to even science - Bauji seeks for his own truth, an experienced one. He will come across as a visionary to someone while others might outright reject him as a nitwit. Kapoor webs an authentic image of a regular middle-class household in the surrounding areas of urban India, the still-prevailing joint family & the ego dynamics. His execution is gentle traversing at its own pace much like the ways of Bauji.
Kapoor's narrative talks about many issues in subtle way & he webs in some brilliant situations to express his points. Like the scene where the priest gives "Prasad" (Godly offering) to Bauji, he takes it, have it & then says that the sweet is good totally unaware of the anger of the priest who kept on insisting that it's not a mere sweet, it is godly offering. Then in another accomplished sequence bauji kept on saying that he won't believe in gods until one of them comes & have tea with him which angers the religious fanatic ones. Going away from religion, he even pokes on the education system whereby he establishes the importance of knowledge beyond books. The debate with the maths teacher on how could one assume that two parallel lines would meet at infinity deserves mention. Then the sequence of visiting a zoo to check whether a tiger roars or meows was superlative.
Apache Rifles (1964)
Loved it
Great experience watching it. Loved the movie. Had a great time.
A young cavalry officer called (Audie Murphy) is assigned the job of bringing in a band of Apaches Miscalero led by Vitorio (Vitale) and his son Red Hawk (Michael Dante) who have been terrorizing the countryside . They have escaped from San Carlos reserve , illustrating the callous disregard with which the government treated the Apaches as the US agency fails to deliver even the meager provisions without proper supplies for survival . But the captain Stanton is caught in the crossfire of passions and greed . There arrives a new Colonel (John Archer) and Stanton turns into second-in-command and he subsequently is dismissed .
The picture packs whirlwinds of manic action , thrills , fights , sustained energy and often commendable results . The film has a slickness and crude vigour , though some scenes are failures . The Indian attacks , shootouts , pyrotechnics , battles , riding pursuits , all of them are spectacular and the film is another passable Hollywood product but of B-series . It contains some vigorous and ingeniously done action scenes , but others no-nonsense . The highlights of the movie are the overlong fighting between Stanton and Red Hawk and the final Indian attack to cavalry . Gorgeous outdoors filmed on location in Bronson Canyon , Mojave, California and Red Rock Canyon State Park Cantil, California . It was professionally directed by William Witney who spent his entire career making serials and second-features , one of them is this ¨Apache rifles¨ , providing the screenplay allowed him to keep them thrilling at his own moving and relentless gallop . It has a rigour look , hard-edged scenes , action-packed , wild energy , exciting images that , in the eyes of connoisseurs makes one of the most acceptable of his kind .
