This movie was hard to watch at times. Poverty, abuse, and misfortune at every turn. Precious was lucky to
have people in her life who loved her. Unfortunately, her mother wasn't one of them.
Enter Mo'Nique. Until this film I never saw her do anything beyond her foul-mouthed stand up routine. And I mean foul. I guess I'll never understand who she's trying to appeal to but it certainly isn't everyone and it's definitely not me.
I don't want to dwell on her but I'm going to anyway because this woman gave an Oscar winning performance and I knew when I saw this at the theater when it was released, that she was going to win it. Yes, she is that good here. I would love to see her do more. She might be a comedian but she is a fine dramatic actor.
Other names of note. Mariah Carrey and Lenny Kravitz.
All that aside, when you watch this movie you'll realize how great your life is by comparison no matter how crappy it is.

I was a little bit into the story and actually enjoying it. Joey's acting ability really isn't too far off and he delivers a pretty good performance here. Good supporting cast, especially in his best friend Boner.
I like this one because it doesn't follow the typical romcom formula. Well, it kinda does, but it's a little refreshing in that respect. Joey of course, is very easy on the eyes and that certainly helps.
Now here's the part I don't understand. What is the need for all the nepotism Joey? Everything I see him in lately seems to be a family affair and I don't understand that I guess. Stop doing that please.

First off. Am I the only one who thinks that Adamo
looks like George Maharis? Look him up. The actor from Route 66. I think it's uncanny.
I think this movie just hits the nail on the head. The leads are adorable and the acting is pretty good. The production values are ok. Could be a little better but overall ok.
Annoying Anya don't ya know, and the stoner dad. They kind of make it and the coming out scene is pretty funny.
Overall this is one of my favorite gay themed movies. I do wish I knew if Keith Jordan was gay. I guess I will never understand why straight men are cast in gay roles. Forever a mystery.
