Having seen both the original play and the original musical (en français et en anglais), I
Trying and mostly succeeding to look and feel like the movie musical version of Hairspray, it was missing its pacing and heart. We need to care about these characters, and it felt a little flat and slow.
Another thing is that most people won't know what was happening politically in Quebec during that time period, so much of the subtext and themes of the play will be missed.

The production looks great, but it's missing the heart of the novel.
So many film adaptations make the error of straying from their source materials. There's a reason the TMC book and its sequels are such big hits. They are already have such well crafted plots and perfectly developed characters. Why mess with it?
While it was still fun to visit Cooper's Chase, it felt a little bit hollow.

This season actually started off alright and had some fun moments. But it has been progressively getting worse and worse as it goes on.
The past 2 episodes were excruciating but this was simply unwatchable.
Production values are fine and the entire reboot could have been fun but they apparently have forgotten the concept of plot.
