Lot of negative reviews of this one, but most of them seem to be missing the point. Don't let reviews with titles like 'empty' or 'terrible' dissuade you; there is actually a lot happening in this Thanksgiving 'horror' film ... but it isn't a typical horror film, it uses it's slasher tropes and creepy camera moves / sound design to illuminate the existential dread that's part of being a human being and a member of a family you both love and hate. It captures the truth and sadness and fragility of human / family dynamics more honestly than most. Beautifully shot, amazing set, great acting.
A weird little film from John McNaughton, taking an A level cast and adding B Movie sludge to it. It feels like Ashley Judd and Luke Perry trusted their director and each other. as they're pretty excellent and also unhinged. It's not going to feel like what you're used to, and that's what makes it unique and great.
