Beautiful Excursions
I enjoyed very much this excursion through Turkey: beatiful landscapes and nice encounters.
There are some interesting aspects of this country : Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (the changing of the guard at the Ataturk Mausoleum, the reforms-Turkey becomes a republic, Ankara becomes the capital of the country, the secularism and the democracy, the women's suffrage, the Latin alphabet , th end of the polygamy-, besides Ataturk founded the University of Ankara), the pottery of Avanos (the pottrs Mehmet and Ahmet, the competition frm plastic, the pottery used for music instruments), the geology of Cappadocia (the volcanic stones, the geology professor Vedat Toprk speaking about the fairy chimneys -also called hoodoos-, the danger of the collapse of these chimnneys, the transformation of cave houses into guesthouse in Göreme, the underground houses-the search for water-), the pigeon breeders of Cappadocia ( the pigeon loft, the Ali Kilic and his wild pigeons, the the use of the pigeon droppings sa fertilizers, the breed of the "pigeon voltigeur" and the pigeon "décoratif", the auctin of pigeons at Urgup) and the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey ( the departure of the Greek people of Anatolia towards Greece and the arrival of Turkish people of Greece, the descendants of the Greeks of Anatolia visiting Cappadocia-the good relationships between Greek and Turkish mayors-their wishes for the peace-).
I enjoyed the encounters of Sophie Jovillard with her guide Ahmed Diler and his family, with the balloonist Kaili Kidner, with the women selling bread in the market, with two ladies baking bread, raisin jam and galette and with the people in the main square of Güzelyurt; nice ncounters with very kind Turkish men and women.

There are some interesting aspects of the North of England: the historical richness of York ( the Yorrk Minster Cathedral, the tallest stain glasses in the world, the "restauratrice d'art Rachel Thomas and the care for the stain gasses of the cathedral, the guide and ghost hunter Gary Stevenson- the walk through the Medieval streets and the stories of the ghosts of the Victorian period,the archaelologist Peter Connelly and and the remains of the Viking period-the arrival of the Vikings in York at 866- Richard Hall and the York Archaeological Trust-York was the second town of England-), the Day of Saint-George at Leeds (the legend of Saint-George, the spectacle of the Medieval tournaments), the Englih countryside ( the cattle breeder Sue and Terry Prince-the the English people have lost their connection with the countryside because of the early industrialization-, the landscaper Craig Dalton and the creation of English gardens in the countryside, the aristocratic families and their manors-Sir Richard Fitzherbert and his family manor-), Manchester and the football ( the Manchester United and the Old Trafford, the celebrities, the soccer fans in a pub looking at a match of Manchester United against Portsmouth, the "Football focused" Association-Adam Eccleston and the sports teacher Ann-Marie Robinson, the 6 football fields in Hardwick neighborhood for the young people, the football coching and also the importance of the values- the communication with each other and the fairplay-) and the Beatlemania in Liverpool (the bus tour, the Beatles fans visiting the mythical places, the influence of Liverpool on the music of the Beatles, the "Museum the Beatles Story" managed by the sister of John Lennon, the rock band "Silk Pigs" and the importance to reinvent the pop music).

I enjoyed very much this excursion through Aquitaine: beatiful landscapes and nice encounters.
There are some interestings aspects of this region: the life of the Landaises beaches (in the night the cleaning of the beaches, in the early morning the treasure hunters with the metal detectors,then the arrival of the lifeguards- the danger of the "baïnes"-,the seaside resort of Biscarrrosse-about 15.000 vacationers every day in the summer-, the surfers enjoying the waves and at the end of day Clément and Délia and the surf tandem), the feria of Mont-de-Marsan ( the Marine Landaise cows running through the streets, the feria dedicated to Sainte-Madeleine, the procession with the statue of the saint, the blessings, the corrida-the matador Thomas Dufau-, five days and five nights of celebration), the "Forêt des Landes" (the biggest cultivated forest in Europe, the maritime pine or cluster pine, the modern engine for cutting the trees, the huge sawmill at Castets- the transforming of 5000 trunks into planks every day, the sawdust and the chips transformed into pulp for the paper industry), the Marathon du Médoc ( start of the marathon in Pouillac, many disguised runners, about 8.500 runners, the runner Philippe Vignac, the run through the vineyards, at kilometer 24 the Château Pontet-Canet-, Alfred Tesseron and the wine tasting, in other places the runners can eat cheese, ice-cream or entrecôte, Philippe Vignac finished the marathon in 6 hours and 30 minutes), the neighborhood of Saint-Michel in Bordeaux ( the "quartier populaire" of Bordeaux-,the market where people of the different communities meet together , Rabah and his Algerian restaurant, the old Bordeaux families and their antique shops, the "Indignés de Bordeaux" and the protests against the changing of the neighborhood)and the Cap-Ferret (a trendy seaside resort, the arrival of celebrities, the film location for the film "Les petits mouchoirs" with Guillaume Canet, nevertheless the place keeps its quietness).
