  • Waste of time

German productions are generally known for (mostly not very good) comedies. And although they've financed many successful films, these were usually filmed in the USA.

Here we have a TV production, and after just a few minutes it was clear to me that its quality is barely better than that of afternoon soaps. Perhaps it will be better in part two, but I was already falling asleep during part one. No suspense, no acting... a scenario more reminiscent of a soap opera.

Save yourself the time with this garbage.

  • Even garbage is better

Of course, whenever a film is even remotely successful, bad copies are immediately churned out. Some have almost the same plot, others try to lure audiences with the title. And of course, The Asylum is involved.

Save yourself the time watching this garbage. It's not even good for unintentional laughs. Just plain awful. From the acting (non-existent) to the special effects... just awful.

  • Overrated

I don't know what others see in this film. For me, it was boring and confusing. And the acting... what was that all about? I mean, for over half the film, you just saw people running away or chasing after things... there was no acting involved.

The whole story was also bloated and needed tighter editing. At least an hour less would have been much better.

  • Garbage

I don't even know where to begin describing this film. There are movies where you know after just a few minutes that they're simply awful. With this one, it might be the nonexistent acting. The sluggish camerawork. The complete lack of suspense. Or the story itself.

In any case, the film couldn't end fast enough for me. And again, a warning... even last week's weather forecast is more exciting.

  • Tried, but it didn't work

Murder at the Emassy tries to ride the wave of nostalgic whodunits...and falls flat on its face.

I felt like the filmmakers were trying to create a mix of Christie and Knives Out. While the characters are quite nice, the plot is just so far-fetched and full of holes.

Overall, I was disappointed by the film.

  • Ruined

What have they done to this series? At no point did I feel like I was watching a Predator... more like an actor in a bad AI costume and setting.

On top of that, the story was so unbelievable. My God, all that was missing was for Godzilla or King Kong to suddenly appear.

Of all the installments in the series, this is the absolute low point for me.

  • Boring

Here we have another B-movie with a monster threatening the world (i.e., the USA).

For me, it was a real snoozefest. The plot was, well, sort of there, but everything was so cheaply done (funny, the submarine is above water, but the gauge reads 60 feet below... also funny, the scientists running around in yellow terrycloth pajamas). Harryhausen's animation was absolutely terrible.

But the worst part was that for long stretches, absolutely nothing happened.

  • Just forget it

Cowboys and Dinos. Well it was made in 1969 (my guess for an very young audience during a double feature show).

Of course, there were no CGI effects here. Everything was done using stop-motion animation...albeit by a veteran (Harryhausen), but clearly under time pressure...as you can see from the dinosaur's changing colors.

Otherwise, the dinosaur just lumbers around the terrain, and honestly, at that speed, it shouldn't pose any real danger to anyone.

What I'll remember about this movie is the wooden acting, which, however, matches the wooden animation of the monster. Overall, a movie that deserves to be forgotten.

  • Brutal and illogical

It becomes clear in the very first minutes that more emphasis is placed on gore than on plot. This is particularly evident in the girls' introduction to the brothel. There, Vic kills one of the girls to show the others that they shouldn't resist. This is completely nonsensical, since we see shortly afterwards that the girls are already tied up and also drugged. The escape then becomes completely unrealistic. Not only is the mercenary leader's house (the one who killed her family and is now after her) apparently right next door to the brothel, but she also finds refuge with the doctor who supplies the brothel.

It's a shame; an important topic is senselessly wasted here.

  • At least they tried

When I first watched this movie, I thought I was watching one of those cheap Italian productions that were pressed right after a box office hit.

Totally over-the-top characters with so much pathos that just watching them gives me a toothache. Add to that some lousy tricks, but mercifully, most of them take place in the dark. Although I'd like to know how many boxes of ammo they actually had with them, given the constant fire (and hey, remember, the M16 was total junk for jungle combat, with as many flaws as possible).

Honestly, I can't find a single reason why I'd want to watch this movie again or even recommend it.

  • One armed Army

I saw this film over 50 years ago, back then in an open-air cinema in Italy. It was a time when cinemas were flooded with cheap action films from Italy and Asia. And even though I liked the film, I noticed the bad tricks and fights even back then. I mean, even a young person could see that the *missing* arm was tied to his body. And during the fights, the sheer number of opponents could have easily crushed him to the ground...but hey, they were fair and, of course, always attacked one at a time. And with one blow, the hero could kill entire rows of enemies.

Acting was never demanded of any of the actors in these films, nor was it given.

Overall, I would consider the film today a funny fairy tale, but one that's unlikely to interest anyone who likes today's action movies.

  • Carry on...it's just an apocalypse

A somewhat strange mix of science fiction and horror. Ultimately, the jump scares predominate. The filmmakers tried to create an interesting film with a lot of trickery. But it still seems odd that another civilization 65 million years ago looked exactly like modern humans and could even breathe in Earth's atmosphere.

Overall, the film lacks a lot to remain interesting for long.

It also focuses too much on the aforementioned jump scares. Although well-acted, I couldn't really empathize with the two main characters.

  • Movie or documentary?

An interesting take on the increasingly serious fentanyl problem in the US. But it's not limited to that; it also shows the sometimes hopeless hopelessness of government authorities, who (in reality) can't even maintain order in their maximum-security prisons.

    The acting is consistently good.

The plot is realistic, with a few exceptions.

Overall, the movie reminded me of a documentary at times. Absolutely worth watching.

  • Good action, but the story...oh my god

So our fantastic unstoppable Killer getsa a bounty on his head...and does what he does best...killing everybody.

Now, the action of this movie is very good.

    The fights are excellently choreographed.

And (like most sequels) the gore is a little bit more.

So why not giving this movie a higher rating? Just because the story is absurd. Maybe if this movie was advertised as fantasy...but an save heaven for killers and scum run by an unkown *Higher Table* with even more power....no sorry, thats just the same nonsense I hate in Matrix.

That means: action: 9 plot: -3 final voting: 6!!!

  • It's Monster Time

Once again, a monster threatens humanity. Well, not all of humanity, just the visitors to a museum.

It's presented quite entertainingly, with plenty of humor and action. Although, well, the film is simply mediocre without any highlights.

However, you should NOT have read the book!!! Because the characters are very different or don't appear at all.

Overall, the film is worth watching, but (as with most monster movies) you shouldn't expect anything lasting.

  • Starts slow

In recent years, there have been many revenge films featuring retired special agents.

While most of them move quickly, this film takes its time. But then it really ramps up. The action is so over the top that it's simply unbelievable. No one can take that much punishment and then be completely recovered in the next scene. The ending, in particular, is only halfway funny. It's nice that our hero has set up his playing field with traps. But how do the two additional assistants know about these traps and use them?

Overall, it's a reasonably good fun film, but one where you should switch off your thinking...or have enough beer on hand.

  • A true classic

It was a time when audiences were constantly being shocked by new horror films when this film came to theaters. I don't know how many viewers left the theater screaming or burst into tears. It was certainly a new experience for me, seeing these horrific monsters for the first time. Besides the (almost) Oscar-worthy special effects, one could also admire the actors, who certainly still have room for improvement (and who certainly never imagined they'd be starring in such a classic). Overall, one can only say that you simply MUST see this film to admire its, well, yawn-inducing quality.

  • Scarry for little kids

I saw the film for the first time as a child, and back then, what it showed terrified me.

Well, the second time around, I had to revise my judgment. Not only were the shocking moments much weaker, but the film's other shortcomings also became apparent. There were the characters, who were portrayed in such a one-dimensional way and then played very woodenly. Overall, I can only give the film 4 stars for nostalgic reasons. I wouldn't watch it again.

  • Popcorn Classic

This is, alongside 1954's Them!, the second-best horror film about man-made, gigantic animals that become a threat.

It follows the familiar premise: ambitious researchers who want something positive but cause disaster. A heroic character saves a damsel in danger, and finally, the military provides the solution.

The tricks were probably pretty good for the time.

You see the film popping up on TV again and again. It's a classic, after all. But it probably only shocks small children (who I wouldn't show it to) and otherwise appeals to nostalgic fans.

  • Waste of Time

Did someone try to squeeze a video game into a movie?

Whatever. The movie itself is so stupid. The main character can happily talk on the phone and hold conferences with all sorts of people...but we should have learned from previous minor disasters that the first thing to fail is the communications network. With all the interference in the atmosphere, there's no satellite signal either.

Oh well, the movie is simply garbage!!!

  • A mixture, not a good mixture

With this movie, it seems they couldn't decide what they wanted to make: a Western, a horror movie, or something psychological.

In any case, the result was something that was a complete flop for me.

The opening sequence is interesting, but it only raises questions and offers no answers as to what actually happened.

After that, there's something that was probably only accomplished with a bunch of untalented amateur actors (when I see someone jumping out of cover and shooting high into the air, hitting someone...OMG). It all looked like a pathetic version of The Wild Bunch.

I can't recommend watching it, either.

  • It's OK but nothing special

The story is starting to get a bit overdone: a group goes to an island populated by dinosaurs to get something. Oh, and of course, a particularly dangerous dinosaur was bred on this very island.

It has everything: lots of screaming, a little girl in agony, dinosaurs, and the necessary action to escape from them.

But, well, at no point did I feel particularly attached to any of the characters. Not only that, but the special effects weren't as impressive as in previous films.

Of course, there were logical holes galore: why does a company spend millions and then send people out so poorly equipped? How can people who jump into the water minutes apart from each other reunite so easily?

Why are the oh-so-dangerous dinosaurs that caused their shipwreck no longer there at the end? And so you could dissect almost every minute of the film.

But if you want to watch an action movie with a bag of popcorn, this one isn't such a bad choice.

  • My favorite alien movie

The first Alien movie was pure adrenaline horror. This second installment, which directly follows on from the first, naturally also has horror elements. But it's primarily an action movie. And in my opinion, it's the best of the first three. Of course, as with any action movie, the character development is very superficial. The incompetent officer, the trigger-happy Amazon, the loudmouth who backs down when problems arise, or the sleazy employee. All of these characters are simply stereotypes, and you feel no connection to them. But everything is redeemed by very well-choreographed action.

Of course, I also want to address what I consider the biggest plot hole: Why do they only send a handful of soldiers on a mission where contact with a station has been lost? Each officer would send at least three squads. And of course...why do they leave the ship unmanned in orbit...a single man there, and the entire story would have turned out differently.

Still, as an action movie it's still worth watching.

  • A milestone (back then)

The film probably inspired many imitators to emulate it. But hardly any succeeded. What you really have to give it credit for is the ingenious combination of CGI with real characters.

The story, on the other hand, is rather neglected. An amusement park with dinosaurs would certainly bring in a ton of money at the beginning. But at the same time, it would also cost a ton of money to maintain...just the food for the animals, because on such a small island, only a handful of dinosaurs could sustain themselves.

Overall, it's a successful mix of action and comedy.

The only thing I would have liked was for the children to be eaten by the T-Rex right at the beginning!!!

I can't give it a higher rating, as I'm not looking to evaluate the historical value here, but rather the current enjoyment of watching it.

  • A look into the harsh reality

Sold by her father, Maria is bought as a gift to deflower a son. Afterwards, her new owner sends her to his brothel in the Brazilian jungle.

The film impressively shows how women and girls are viewed as commodities in a male-dominated world. It doesn't shy away from showing us this harsh world in small bites.

Even if, of course, these only glimpses of the true harshness.

The main actress and the brothel owner deserve special credit here, for they play their roles very convincingly.

It's also good that Maria's subsequent fate isn't presented through rose-colored glasses. Because in this world where nothing is free, she can only pay with her body.
