Cruel Intentions 2 (2000)
Worst piece of tripe I've ever seen
I think this is probably one of the worst movies I've watched in a long time.
Trying to get the 'same characters' with different people is *such* a bad idea. If they couldn't get Sara Michelle G. and Ryan P. in this one, they should have just cut their losses and said to heck with it. Instead they get NEW actors that are horrible at what they did. I seriously felt like I was at a High School or (bad) College play with the lever of acting these people put forth.
Where do they get some of these people? Was this their first movie? It sure seemed like it.
This movie also parallels the original in a few lines of speech. I had just got done watching the first one and popped #2 in. I was all excited to get to watch the second one and it ended up being the worst show I've seen in a while. I don't hardly EVER *EVER* turn off a movie, but this one definitely went off after about 30 - 40 min.
The Master of Disguise (2002)
Totally, literally, and utterly HORRID
I would like to start off by saying that 'stupid funny' is what I'm all about. I absolutely LOVED Austin Powers and all the other stupidly funny movies I can get my hands on. One of my floor mates rented The Master of Disguise and at times I wanted to heave my shoe at the TV. Parts made all so familiar in the trailers such as Dana repeating over and over and over again "Turtle, Turtle" was one such instance. Yet another would have to be him saying, "I want to be a master of disguise". If I had any doubts of how unoriginal and untalented Dana Carvey was, I have none now. I will make it a point to avoid ALL of his movies. I just wish he hadn't dragged 'Data' down with Dana, however he DID make a couple of parts in the movie laughable... Avoid this movie at all costs. If you are like me you will want to scream and stop watching it. If I was by myself and rented this movie on some way-way-way-outside chance I would have turned it off right after the "Turtle, Turtle" part no doubt.
Sankofa (1993)
In awe.
This movie best depicted conditions of slavery that I have ever seen. Hearing so many things in books and from school teachers dillutes the mind a little and makes it feel very mild from the way they speak. I was especially in awe how they made it so real yet didn't even hardly show blood at all. I watched it a second time to make sure; it doesn't!
If you are going to watch this on your own accord (i.e.- not in a class where you can't get another copy), PLEASE watch it more than once. I've heard this so many times about so many other movies, but it's awesomly true in this case! 'You can not POSSIBLY get everything w/ one viewing'.
I'm off to write a paper about this movie, but I think I must rent it once more before I get done with the paper to get even more info; there's just that much.
