Fahrenheit 11/9 (2018)
Fact Based Horror Movie
It's interesting that the reviews are either all 10's for people that saw the movie or all ones for people that didn't. Obviously it wasn't made for Trump supporters. It is based on factual information that they can't relate to. Real people talking about real issues and many of them not white I guess is too much to handle for some. It's depressing information about what is going on in our country and makes you want to get off your duff so that we can change the direction we are headed. It's delivered in the usual Michael Moore style but the topic hits so close to home it can be a little unsettling. Go see it.
Idiocracy (2006)
The Donald Trump Story
This movie is actually an autobiographical depiction of the Trump presidency so far. Terry Crews does a great job as Trump although Crews' portrayal comes across as much too competent in comparison to the real life Trump. The world has been reduced to impulsive shallow people who only care about money and sex and self promotion. Enter the 2 stars, Maya Rudolf and Wilson who are well below average intelligence as part of a botched scientific experiment. At first they are ridiculed and persecuted by Trump and his followers because they use logic and they believe in science. Compared to Trump supporters they are actually geniuses. When Wilson tries to convince Trump that crops will grow if they use water from toilets instead of gator aid Trump and his followers mock him because they think water is only used for flushing toilets. Trump decides to do a public execution of Wilson in a modern day version of his reality show called "Your Fired". In this version of the show he uses actual fire to kill his rivals.
This movie is a very accurate representation of Trump's rise to power. I don't get why it is not part of the documentary genre but I guess that's because it's hard to believe that someone like Donald Trump could rise from a reality TV star to actually garnering enough votes to become the leader of the free world.
Trump nearly destroys the civilized world and only then do his followers realize a very stupid man and woman from the past can use their high school level understanding of science to save the world.
This is a hilarious movie that depicts what can happen if you stop thinking for yourself.
Suicide Squad (2016)
Watching this movie made me want to commit suicide!
The real villains of the this story are the creators of this movie and the director David Ayers. A disgrace to DC comics. I did not care if any of the characters died. Another movie where the CGI took precedence over the plot. I would get more satisfaction watching some hill billys blow some stuff up on you tube. At least the back story is better than this movie and the explosions are real instead of CGI.
The Big Empty (2003)
Entertaining and offbeat
I've been to Baker. I swear the characters in the movie could easily be based on the real residents of this desolate town. Made me a little uncomfortable just thinking about being stranded there. Things could happen there that no one would ever know or care about.
If you are confused when watching this then it's working. Don't try to figure it out and just enjoy the ride. Well acted. Uncle Rico was awesome! Great cast of characters. Frazier was an unexpected pleasure. This movie is more about the acting and the characters than anything else. We all have to make choices everyday and usually make the wrong ones. Make the choice to give this movie a chance.
Keep your bags packed but don't open them unless you are ready to go on this trip.
The Heat (2013)
I feel very sad after watching this
Maybe this was outside my demographic. There were several women in the theater laughing hysterically the whole movie. I think I chuckled once or twice or maybe I threw up a little in my mouth - I'm not sure. I LOVED Bridesmaids so I was expecting a funny movie. This movie was depressing and I would have walked out but my girlfriend was enjoying herself so we stayed.
Decent cast and some good comedians which had nothing to work with. I was saying the lines before the characters were, they were so obvious. The plot is terrible with no surprises and the script seemed to be an ad lib for Mellissa McCarthy. Don't get me wrong she is funny but it got to the point the movie seemed like a 2 hour Saturday Night Live skit. The executions and deaths were puzzling in a comedy. Our heroines waving guns in the faces of innocent civilians for laughs wasn't funny. The message that Sandra Bullock couldn't get a man because she was threatening to men was ridiculous.
The Heat is more like a summer blizzard. I can't recommend it.
