Mafia Princess (1986 TV Movie)
La bella Susan!
17 February 2002
For that role, Susan Lucci was the perfect choice! She did an outstanding job, and Tony Curtis played the role convincing me anyway that he was Italiano. The storyline was intriquing, and we the public are always curious to know what is in the heart and home of repudiated mobsters, who we would like to think go home to their families and like the chameleon, show another side of their disposition; some form of human nature with those he loves and cherishes. I have not as yet read the book, but the T.V. Movie was one I should like to see again. Unfortunately, it's not one of the re-runs they constantly throw at you that one would rather turn off the set, and hope they show this one again in the near future. One question does come to mind though: WHY IS IT NOT AVAILABLE ON VIDEO OR DVD????? Signed, 100% Italiana & proud of it!

3 intimate love affairs in 3 separate vignettes set between 3 countries far apart all taking place in one classic automobile.

Warning: Spoilers
Talk about movies with an all-star cast! This is one of the best comprising the best; Rex Harrison, Shirley Maclaine, George C. Scott, Ingrid Bergman, Omar Shariff and the list goes on. What more can you ask to keep your heart from beating a mile a minute while Rex who is so happy and in love with his unfaithful wife catches her in the act with his confidant inside the yellow rolls royce. The 2nd segment of the film is the one that cannot make you stop laughing from start to finish. George (Al Capone's cohort) leaves his trusted henchman in Italy to babysit for his "fidenzata" (his engaged soon to be married) Shirley. She's escorted around Italy by henchman Art Carney who takes a backseat to a handsome Gigolo who falls madly for her and seduces her in the yellow rolls. Shirley comes to her senses and Gigolo learns who her "fidenzato" and his accomplice Art Carney is. After trying to lure her away from going back to America, she makes the decision to marry George (Paulo) and stay alive as Paolo has come back to Italy to resume his romantic pursuits. In the 3rd and final film, the car now is shipped to war torn Germany, where partisans need the car to take food, equipment and men fighting to stay alive and free in Yugoslavia. The Partisan Omar Shariff will use and deceive Ingrid to his advantage and for freedom, but finding her to be vulnerable and very rich, he now befriends her while she partakes to help in the war effort to help his family and comrades in the mountainous countryside, where she in turn falls deeply in love with him and he with her having found quiet solitude and love within the confines of the yellow rolls royce. I love this movie and so wish that it were available on DVD or video cassette. I have been unable to locate it, but each time it appears on AMC, I don't miss it if I can help it. I'd watch it again and again. It's GREAT!

Sunflower (1970)
a memorable sophia and marcello one-of-a-kind classic film!
12 May 2001
I went to a san francisco theatre to see this film along with my mother when I was a teenager in the 60's. It was in english and I loved it so much I saw it twice. I never forgot it, and although it was never shown again, I was told by someone a few years ago, that it was featured on one of the cable channels, and unfortunately I must have missed it. I don't think its ever been shown since. In my humble opinion, this classic movie depicting love, war, passion, separation, hope, and tears should be rated right up there along with Dr. Zhivago, Casablanca, In Love and War, and many other great films of all time. It's a pity that this movie "Sunflower" is nowhere to be found on video or better yet DVD in the english version in the U.S. I did purchase it on video in Italian, and even though I am fluent in Italian and can understand it, others in my household cannot. Can somebody PLEASE see that it gets some recognition, and becomes a familiar movie and available here in the U.S.A.?

diana ross gave the best performance of her career in acting out the role of lady day. i think she gave an oscar winning performance. her depiction of the various phases of billie holiday's life from her youth, to her success, and through her struggles to achieve fame, falling into love and then into a chasm of despair, radiates into belief from diana's eyes to your eyes and heart on the screen.
