Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)
Full of laughs
I have seen Harold & Kumar go to white castle I don't know how man times. But, I have watched it in probably 9 years until I watched it again today. And it still makes me laugh.
I have watched all three Harold and Kumar movies. I am not sure which one is my favorite.
My favorite character in this movie is the one Neil Patrick Harris is as himself. His character made me laugh years ago and his character still makes me laugh.
Two scenes that made me laugh are a scene near the beginning when Kumar is being interviewed by Fred Willard. When Kumar talks on his cellphone and Fred Willard is shocked at what he is hearing and dumps his coffee in his lap. Fred Willard was so funny.
The other scene I liked a lot is towards the end of the movie when Harold is in jail and Kumar Breaks him out. Its the scene where Kumar smells the big bag of pot and then there is a dream sequence where Kumar and the bag of weed get married. That was a funny scene.
I also enjoyed listening to the sound track of this movie.
For me Harold and kumar go to white castle was full of laughs. Its one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. And I still like it after all these years.
White Men Can't Jump (1992)
Takes me back 30 years
I first watched white men can't jump years ago around the time it came out. Back then I had no idea it was directed by the same person Ron Shelton who directed Bull Durham. Of the two movies Bull Durham is my favorite.
I thought Woody Harrelson and. Wesley Snipes were good. When I was watching the movie I thought that maybe it was not realistic for actors who were 5'10 and 5'11 to be basketball hustlers.
I thought Rosie Perez was good as Billy's girlfriend. And the fact that she was studying waiting for Jeopardy to call was was mildly interesting..
And I thought the fact that Gloria and Billy were on the run from the stookie brothers was something that led to the funniest scene in the movie.
At the end of the movie the stookie brothers finally catch up to Billy. He gives them the money and then we see billy laying on a couch cushion with blood coming out of his mouth. The stookies take pictures and then bill gets up. He is alive.
So while if I thought about it I could tell before watching the movie that Billy and Sidney would be good as basketball hustlers and that Gloria would get on Jeopardy and win big.
I still that that white men can't jump was and entertaining movie to watch.
Hoop Dreams (1994)
Pretty Good
Years ago I read the book Hoop Dreams. However I had not watched the Documentary all the way through until I finished watching it today.
It was interesting to watch the High school careers of William Gates are Arthur Agee. To see their struggles and problems and how they Dealt with them. To see how their attitudes towards making it to the NBA had changed by the end.
Arthur's family had to deal with him having to leave St. Josephs and his fathers drug problem and money problems. William had to deal with a Knee injury.
Their High school career did not turn out exactly like they wanted it to however they had pretty good high school careers.
To me it seemed as if William Gates attitude towards basketball changed the most by the end of the documentary. By the end basketball was not as all consuming as it was when he entered high school.
I am glad I finally finished watching hoop dreams. Though I think the book might have been more detailed than the documentary.
Now You See Me 2 (2016)
Entertaining
I found now you see me 2 as entering as I found now you see me. Very entertaining. It was full twists and turns like the original.
There were 2 scenes that I enjoyed a lot. One was where the four horsemen are in a room with a computer. They steal a chip from the computer. And as they are checked by security and move toward the door they threw a card around to each other. The playing card has the computer chip that they stole.
And the other scene I enjoyed was one of the last scenes called the happy new year scene. The four horsemen are captured by Arthur Tressler and his son and taken to what they think its a hanger with their jet. They are put on the plane and they are forced to give Tressler and his son the computer chip that was stolen. And then the four horseman are thrown off the plane.
I thought for sure it was a real plane and the horsemen were dead. It turns out that the plane was on the ground the whole time. It was another magic trick by the four horsemen. And Tressler is exposed to the world.
They story is OK. I did not really understand what the computer chip did. Maybe I was not watching close enough. I think it had something to do with giving Tressler control of the world.
Even if the story is not the best it sure was entertaining watching now you see me 2.
Now You See Me (2013)
Full of twists and turns
My favorite character was Morgan freeman as Thaddeus. Bradley. I also liked Michael Kane as Arthur Tressler. I thought all the actors did a good job.
And the movie looks great.
Now you see me was full of twists and turns and kept me guessing what was going to happen next. And when I thought I knew what was going to happen I was wrong.
My favorite scenes from Now you see me are the one where Jack Wilder is in the apartment after the other 3 magicians have left and he is attacking the FBI or law enforcement. He puts one of the officers hands or suit sleeves down the garbage disposal. That was scary. I thought for sure the officer would lose his hands. But, it was on his sleeves that were in the disposal
And then after that is the chase scene with Jack Wilder being pursued. Dylan Rhodes and the police. Dylan goes to the overturned car and has to be pulled away from the car. I thought for sure that Jack Wilder had died in when the car burned. I was wrong.
And I certainly did not see who was the person behind the magicians. Now that was a surprise.
To me now you see me is like the Television show revenge. The first season kept me guessing.
I found now you see me a very entertaining movie.
The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)
A few laughs
For me the funniest scene of the 40 year old virgin is the one where Andy gets some of his chest waxed. He screams and pain and yells at the woman waxing his chest. He finally has to give up and has only patched of chest hair removed.
Other than that scene I laughed a few other times during the movie I laughed when Paula Andy's boss says that she is available to help Andy with is problem. She used different words than that but, that is the jist of what she said.
I also thought it was funny that Paula liked to play a Michael Mcdonald concert on Smart tech's television in the show room.
For me a movies such as Anchor man and Anchorman two had me laughing through the movie and I think are better movies than the 40 year old virgin.
So for me other than a few laughs in a few scenes 40 year old virgin was a so so movie.
The Pride of the Yankees (1942)
Made me Laugh and Cry
I did not know much about Lou Gehrig other than that he had ALS before I watched the pride of the Yankees. The movie got me interested in learning more about him.
I thought it was pretty neat that Babe Ruth played himself in the pride of the Yankees.
My favorite part of the movie was watching the relationship between Lou and Eleanor. When they first meet Lou trips on baseball bats in front of the dugout And she is sitting close by in the stands and calls him tanglefoot. So it does not seem that they would eventually get married but, the do.
I thought Spencer Tracy did a good Job as Lou Gehrig. And all the rest of the actors were good also.
Alias Jesse James (1959)
Good for a few Laughs
I am a Bob Hope fan. I used to like to watch his Christmas Specials on Television. At least I think I watched those. I don't Remember exactly. And the only movie of Bobs I have watched before Alias Jesse James is call me Bwana. And that was so long ago I don't remember the plot of call me Bwana.
I thought Alias Jesse james was good for a few laughs. Probably the funniest scene was near the beginning of the movie where Bob is in a poker game. He has no money so I believe it was Jesse tore off Bobs clothes and put them on the poker table as his bet. He ends up in his red long johns.
In one scene Bob aka Milfred.drinks hard liquor and when he does his had bulges and steam comes out of his ears. That did not do much for the scene.
And later in the movie when Milfred and cora lee were trying to get away from jesse. Cora lee was driving the wagon and for most of the sene Milfred was in the wagon but, he had to run because he was standing up with his feet on the ground because the floor of the wagon had broken. Didn't make me laugh at all. I suppose I could say he was surrounded by the wagon.
I thought Alias Jesse james tired to be funny but, missed the mark most of the time.
I noticed that Alias Jesse James came out in the same year as some like it hot. I thought some like it hot was a much better movie.
The Shrimp on the Barbie (1990)
Brings back memories
I first watched shrimp on the Barbie years ago on VHS. And I remember that I laughed so hard watching it. When I watched again recently I laughed but, the sides of my face did not hurt like when I watched it years ago.
I remember that when I watched Shrimp on the Barbie years ago I found the scene where Carlos first meets Alex's parents hilarious. No, I laughed at it a little but, did not find it nearly as funny.
I also liked the scene at the Restaurant at Alex's dads birthday party. After Carlos puts the cake on the table he takes off the rope holding up the piñata and the Piñata is to heavy and it lifts Carlos off the ground and smashing the cake and getting everyone covered in cake.
And I am pretty sure years ago I thought the scene with Bruce and Dominique in the pool was hilarious. It still makes me laugh. But, not nearly as much.
And I was also thinking that back when I first watched the movie I was not aware that Cheech was part of Cheech and Chong.
And and one thing I noticed when I recently watched the movie was the license plate on Alex's car said her name Alex. I never noticed before that it was a personalized license plate.
Mañana the song from the soundtrack got stuck in my head.
I don't find The shrimp on the Barbie as fun as I used to. It still does make me laugh. And it certainly brings back a lot of memories.
Professor Marston and the Wonder Women (2017)
A great looking movie
I had read a book about Professor Marston so I was excited to finally watch Professor and the wonder woman. But, I can't remember much of what I read so I don't know how close the movie is to what the professors life was like. I do remember that William did a lot of things.
I thought the costumes and sets looked amazing. Its certainly a great looking movie.
It took me awhile to start liking the movie. But, eventually I started liking it. It was interesting to see how the relationship between the professor, his wife and Olive evolved.
At first she works for them. She is filed and leaves. She comes back into their life. She is asked to leave again and then when William is dying Olive comes back into their life. And Olive lives with Williams life after he dies.
So for me the movie was about that relationship. I thought it could have done without the subplot where William is grilled by a committee about the decency of Woman.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)
A comfort movie
I first watched Ace venture pet detective years ago when it first came out of VHS. As I was watching the movie I wondered what I thought about it back then? DId I find it more funny than I do now? Probably.
Its not a movie that makes my sides ache from laughing to much. Though there are a few scenes that make me laugh a little.
For me the funniest part of the movie is when at the end of the movie Ace is about to get the 25,000 on the gatorade jug and the Opposing teams mascot goes to get a drink of gatorade and scares the bird away. And ace is beating the mascot up as Ace is being shown on the jumbotron.
I suppose I like Jim Carey acting as Ace. Ace is a distinctive movie character. He is not a bland character that is for sure.
For me Ace Venture is a movie with a few laughs that makes me feel better. The movie version of my favorite comfort food.
All of Me (1984)
A feel good move
With plenty of Laughs. For me I wondered how the actors in the movie would make the plot work. A rich woman when she dies wants to switch to a body of a younger woman who she leaves all her fortune to.
I thought steve martin's acting was great when he had to act as if Edwina was in his body along with him. Making one side of his body look like it was inhabited by a woman.
All of me was certainly good for lots of laughs. Probably the funnest scene was the one where roger and edwina were in a court room and roger would not wake up so edwina has to ask the questions of rogers boss who is on the stand. There is a lot more to the scene than that. Roger ends up losing his job and getting thrown out of court at the end of the scene. Very funny.
As I was watching all of me I was thinking about other movies with the same kind of plot. I was thinking maybe something like Eddie murphy's trading places.
Anyway I found All of me to be funny. And for me its a feel good movie because I felt better after having watched it.
A Gamer's Life (2016)
Its Ok
I liked hearing the thoughts of all the people who were interviewed for a gamer's life. I was not familiar with any of the names but, that is because I don't pay attention to professionally gaming that much.
I found the documentary to be OK. It did not get me excited to be a pro video game player or even excited about video games.
One thing I did learn from A gamer's life that I did not think about before was the use of performance enhancing drugs by pro video game players. That never crossed my mind before.
Pretending I'm a Superman: The Tony Hawk Video Game Story (2020)
Not Bad
I had heard about the Tony hawk video games though I did not know much about them.
I liked the interviews with pro skateboards and people involved with the video games.
I found it interesting to learn about some of the skateboarding video games that came out before the Tony Hawk video games. I suppose I thought that Tony Hawks games were the first skateboarding video games.
Something to Cheer About (2002)
Like the old basket ball game footage
I had heard of Oscar Robertson. I had not heard about the high school team he played on. So I had no idea about Attucks Or Ray Crowe.
I liked all the interviews with the players who played on the basketball team and learning what it was like to live back i the 1950's.
It was neat to see the old footage of high school basketball games from the 1950's.
Cheech & Chong's The Corsican Brothers (1984)
Good for a laugh or two
Cheech & chong's The Corsican brothers looked good by that I mean the sets and costumes.
The music was not bad.
I even laughed a few times during the movie. Early in the movie there was a scene where the young brothers were eating out of bowls. And eventually they start throwing food at each other. I found that scene funny.
After that one scene not much in the movie made me laugh. I did think that the fact that when one brother git hit the other brother felt the pain was kind of funny. The brother that got hit did not feel any pain.
The story did not make much sense to me. The Corsican brother were trying to free people from a ruthless ruler. At least I think that is what they were trying to do. Anyway it did not make much sense to me.
Lenny (1974)
Its OK
I think dustin Hoffman did a good job playing Lenny Bruce. The other actors were good also.
The reason I am so so about Lenny is that I did not care for the parts of the film where Lenny's friends are being interviewed and I also don't think the film covered enough of Lenny's life.
So I felt that the movie is OK but, nothing special.
Viva Amiga (2017)
I had no idea that anyone was still using the Amiga
I thought Viva Amiga was a nice overview of the Amiga computer. It talks about the start of the company, some of the problems it had and what is happening with Amiga now.
I liked the interviews with some of the people who worked on creating the Amiga and Amiga users.
I had no idea that the Amiga had a color screen or that it was so advanced for its time. It also surprised me that there are still people who are Amiga fans.
And one cool thing I learning about was chiptune musicians. I never knew that people used old computers to make music. How cool is that.
I also liked seeing some of the commercials for Amiga when it came out. I think one of the people who was interviewed in the video said that the commercials for the Amiga were weird. And I agree with that.
Iverson (2014)
Informative
All I knew about Allen Iverson before I watched Iverson was that he played for the Phi Delphia 76ers.
I had no idea that he was sentenced to 5 years in jail because of an incident at a bowling Alley and he only got out of jail because he was pardoned by the governor. Or that he won scoring championships or MVP awards. Or that he flunked the 8th grade.
I was also surprised that he played for the Denver Nuggets, and Memphis grizzles and even went to turkey for 10 games until he got injured.
So I know more about Allen Iverson after watching Iverson than I did before watching Iverson.
I thought Iverson was a solid overview of Allen Iverson's life.
Name That Tune (2021)
how do people name a song in a few notes, wow.
I find it amazing that people can identify a song in as little as one, two, or three notes. I don't know how anyone can do that. That is why I find name that tune interesting.
Oh, yes, the contestants do get a clue and they do get to say how man notes they could possible guess the song in. The contestant who says the lowest number of notes goes first.
I like music so I would watch name that tone again.
Batman (1966)
Adam west's batman is the best
I think Adam west's Batman is the best batman. And the Batmobile looks great.
This is one of my favorite television shows. I used to watch it whenever it came on television. It always made me feel better when I was feeling down.
I liked the colorful sets. The guest stars. The opening and closing credits. The opening and closing credits are similar to wonder woman in that they are cartoons.
I don't think the stories are that realistic or the special effects are that great.
Batman is a fun show to watch.
Renegade (1992)
Entertaining
Stephen J. Cannell is my favorite show creator. He is probably the only show creator I know the name of.
I never watched Renegade during its run. I did not hear of the show until about a year ago.
I like the characters Reno and bobby. Its exciting to see what they end up doing on each episode. I like that they are bounty hunters.
Stephen J Cannel is good as dutch Dixon. He is a great actor in addition to being a great writer.
I was thinking do I like watching a fictional show about bounty hunters rather than watching a reality show about bounty hunters like dog the bounty hunter. I like renegade better.
Most every episode is entertaining.
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)
A feel good movie
I don't remember when I first say Austin powers international man of mystery. It probably was on VHS a year or two after it came out. One of my favorite things about this movie and all of the Austin powers movies is the Burt Bacharach songs. So cool.
i like the colorful sets that remind me of the 1960's.
I think Mike Myers is good as Dr. Evil and Austin powers. And Elizabeth Hurley is does a good acting job as his partner. I think the whole cast does a good job.
The funniest scene in the movie for me is the scene in the Los Vegas Casino. Austin Powers is in one stall and Toma Arnold's character is in another stall. One of doctor evils henchmen tries to kill Austin powers. Austin powers is making a lot of noise and Tom Arnold's character does not know what is going and thinks the Noises that Austin is making has to do with something else.
Even though Austin powers is supposed to be a comedy it does not make me laugh very much. When I am feeling down Austin powers man of mystery makes me feel better. So that is why I watch it.
America's Funniest Home Videos (1989)
Good for a few laughs.
I probably saw America's funniest home video for the first time years ago. i don't remember when I saw the show for the first time.
I am not a regular viewer of the show. When I do watch it some of the videos do make me laugh because of all the insane things animals and people do. Its amazing that the people or animals are alive after some of the things I see in the video's.
And I always like to see who wins the best video at the end of the show. Its a show that is always good for a few laughs.
The New Price Is Right (1972)
Theme song so great
I used to watch The price is right as a kid years ago. And I still think the price is right theme song is great. it brings me back to my youth.. The theme song is so good its worth watching the New Rice is right only to hear the song.
I think drew Carey is OK. What I like about the show is seeing if people can guess the price of an item to get up on stage with Drew for a chance to play. Its fun to try to guess the price of an item.
I also enjoy the games that people play once they are up on stage with Drew. Entertaining.
Every contestant is so enthusiastic and usually they have on colorful outfits.
Its a fun game show to watch.
