EuroTrip (2004)
very underrated
As expects from teenage coming of age drama/comedies... real dull cliché dragged out beating a dead horse type of thing!
This is what I was yelling as one of my friends tied me down to a couch and forced me to watch saying it was good.
(Tied down here being bribed by food, beer and other goodies; friend being another snotty film school student) So I thought hey, all that effort I can nap if it gets dull.
To my surprise... it is actually very good.
Basically it takes the idea of cliché and gives it a new twist and not the satire type either, a proper real funny way of showing how Americans see Europe. I would say it could be almost accepted as a buy and placed next to team America as good clever notes put down in a funny way thought not as evil! (Which I love and crack up from)
The characters are light, charming and there isn't this great life lesson taken from the end of the film, which is good, cause I am sick of every film trying to be the deep yet funny if you look hard enough type.
The collages are great; the extra characters are politically incorrect You get enough of everything so it is not over done or you feel missing something!
Great to re watch for a good laugh
You also have to love the song!!!!!!!
Scotty doesn't know Scotty doesn't know
and great cameo appearances
Chik loh dak gung (2002)
So bad, it was perfect!
I went into this film expecting it to be rather crap, but i wanted to see a mindless action kung fu flick with hot chics!
I WAS SO WRONG
it was a super crap film , completely mindless and the chics mega hot!
The plot was old the acting horrible and unbelievable the dialogue!!!! dumb as hell!!!! the continuity? the models aged 6 years, everyone else in the movie stayed the same!
all in all it was the worst movie i have ever seen, and they were seriouse through out, that is why it was so good!
it is the funniest movie i have ever seen, they were going to kick us out of the theatre for being so loud!
those monologues in thier heads are perfect! it was sooo cheesy i loved every second of it, we even kept laughing about it all the way back home, repeating lines and sequences!
perfectly carp!
the sad thing is they never kissed! and i wanted them to soooooooooo baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
it was so bad yet so good that i don't know how to vote, but will decide eventually!
Ertefae Past (2002)
A bit of mush
A sad tale about the harshness of reality and what a desperate person would do.
I have to say that this movie has some good points and good acting, but relies too much on it's extra "tear" jerking melodrama. It could have been a much better short film.
I didn't enjoy it at all, or even feel anything toward the characters because it was too forced on us as a viewer, and at times the shift of character too sudden and thus unbelievable.
The kindness, the loyalty and patriotism was all too dramatized, taking it completely out of bound. So by pushing and spoon feeding us these feelings the whole taste of the film was corrupted leaving us with no room for our own judgement of character. Where we should have been on the main character's side we end up thinking he is stupid. Then again maybe that is what the director wanted us to think of his main hero.
Spider-Man (2002)
Go in as if you are 8 and you would love it.
Everyone was telling me on how awful the film was and how silly it all is.
Ofcoarse, i didn't go in expecting a deep and meaningful film about the world blah blah blah. cinema is about enjoying yourself, what really gets to me is that there are more bad (i want to be deep action films) than (hey i know i am silly, but this is cinema!) which turns out really good. like in MIB you know it is silly and you know it will be fun. i had a great time, then again i am into comics so maybe it would be helpful to read up on the older spiderman comics just to get the sillyness of it.
Go, enjoy a happy film about a guy jumping around in a suit. Apart from that, the only thing that is annoying is the trend of attaching a love story to every film these days, whether we need to or not. but here it works, cause peter is nothing without mary....p.s. i hate when they use M.J... too hip wanna be.
and please ignore the spelling mistakes
Glitter (2001)
It is depressing thinking people actually payed money to make this!
Alright, usually i don't like being negative, thinking some where some how a movie has an audience, well i guess it does, 200 or so people thought it was a 10! but I still think they are destroying whatever film sense this category for girls under 15 used to have. The best way to describe this is that is a slower, more boring more girly version of coyote ugly (if that is how you spell it). BUT for the sake of truth I liked some camera techniques, and they had good edits for movement. Well I used to like Mariah Carey, so I went it with an open, even accepting mind, and i tried to ignore the boredom, but alas, i was thinking of where to go have dinner!
Memento (2000)
a twisted mood
It is a very twisted plot but very unique and very well written, usually in a movie you have a general mood with a bit of a second variety, i.e. in a romantic comedy you would get a lot of happy and a little sad etc. In movies like magnolia, you are bombarded with feelings, you get happy, bored, sad, excited, stressed...... you get in it, the same with memento; it is a head rush, but better than magnolia, different sort of genre altogether.
If you watch it on video don't stop, forward or rewind the first time, you will lose all point, please, even if you don't get it,
i can't say more it will ruin it, but you have to see it. it isn't as mainstream as it sounds, the story and the editing were magnificent, perfect even, and i personally liked how you really get in the mood, even annoyed at times, it is rare when a film can get that effect, when they want it to happen, ha ha, It is one of those films where you sit and rethink it after, what it meant or how each different person saw it or what you really saw. One of my all time favourites.
