I saw this on channel 4 one night in 1993, I remember because i had just started dating my husband! except he wasn't then.
we watched it together and right from the start we pressed record and had it on VHS for absolutely years......sadly it got thrown out with all the other VHS's and we really regret it.It was in 3 parts. it was called "About last night" on channel 4 but its called "Nights" officially. In my opinion this is a very timeless piece and very entertaining and is true today as it was then. Its about a neurotic girl who is going thru the motions of a new relationship. It is told in claymation and real actors. In fact if this was shown on telly to this generation today nothing would be a miss. i wish they would release this again! the makers also made crapstone villas i believe.

This Film has such a Following! yet you cant buy it on DVD!
The Journey, is so engaging, that I can watch it again and again. The Russian Folk Songs, Fantastic! and Yul singing!
The Gypsy music, the intrigue.
The shear magnetism of the Magnificent YUL who comes across with an array of emotions.Powerful, proud, vulnerable against the gracious, serene Deborah Kerr. This film is even on view on youtube, its that potent. I just wish some one could tell me the name of those Russian folk songs! Especially the drinking ones. And I wish there was a recording of Yul singing them..(but thats asking a bit too much isn't it!)
So I emailed TCM Turner Movies on tcmmailuk@turner.com and asked them why they hadnt released it on DVD, Im awaiting an answer. They are mad, because lots of us would love a copy for a present wouldn't we?
Cheers.

I saw "Queen Elizabeth's Magician", along with "The Wickedest man in the World" both of these excellent documentaries came on channel 4, UK, as a double bill, and I must say, I was spooked! Queen Elizabeth's Magician was about the life of John Dee, a mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, occultist, and consultant to Queen Elizabeth the first. It tells you about his life, and how he comunicated with the spirit world, life of science and magic. i found it very interesting and very fascinating, but I was scared after wards! i must say, the same thing about the other documentary called "Wickedest man in the world" because that was about Aleister Crowley , equally creepy! they were made by the same production company Diverse productions. If they ever come on I dare u to watch any of them alone!
