This film is the reason I'm a tree hugging biologist and environmental activist. Every child should be required to watch this at least 3 times from age 5 to 15. This should be elementary school required watching. In my humble opinion this film is likely responsible for my generation growing up to give a crap about the planet and recycle and go into careers that are centered around the environment. I have to keep typing until the character limit is reached, so I will also add that the soundtrack is wonderful and Robin Williams as Batty is one of my all time favorite animated characters. Watch this film.
Ok, it is a low budget flick. Start with the idea that you are watching someone's personal art and not a Hollywood mega-movie. There are lighting and sound flaws, but good camerawork. The acting is great considering the driving point is this lady's intensity and duality, a well played expression with a little exaggeration for effect and humor/shock. The story is weird and fun in a dark humor way, and the stylized slasher scenes have an adult comic book look and feel that I liked. If you're looking for something serious and thrilling, this is not going to be your cup of tea, but if you want a weird and fun psychodrama and don't mind the whole "indie film" vibe, I do suggest giving it a try. 7 out of 10 for originality, strangeness, and creative effort.
Well first of all this is not my usual cup of tea even though I lift and enjoy being fit. I'm not sure how I ended up seeing this entire film but I'm glad I did. Very inspiring and heartfelt throughout. 9/10, not for everyone probably but I liked it and I think it is worth watching even if you aren't into bodybuilding simply for the story of this guy's life and how he was able to overcome so much to be where he is now. Very positive story of hope and resilience, showing the importance of dedication and passion in life, even after the worst things. The review requires so many characters but I've already said the important points and don't want to spoil the film for anyone who might want to see it.
