Score is a bit low because it doesn't stand comparisons with more classic and ambitious horror movies; however, this is definitely a fun watch. Colin Farrell is very entertaining as a vampire and Toni Collette also deserves praise, while other actors are decent enough to keep it together.
The movie works both as a tribute to the original 1980s classic and its own valid project. The casting choices help cement it into the Fright Night legacy and the contemporary touch might appeal younger audiences, compared to the original. This last element is valuable, as this "franchise" was one of the earliest and best pictures to introduce the "fishy new neighbour" trope in horror movies, and being a remake, this movie reconnects it to the original source.

It's crazy how people go mad picky on old classics and try to humiliate an iconic legacy, then flood similar recent movies with positive reviews just cause they're hip and on netflix. I swear if netflix made this same movie today and used modern cgi fx the rating would be no less than 7/10.
I really enjoyed the recent Hellraiser remake as I enjoy most recent horror movies from the 2020s. The thing is, what makes them enjoyable is that they draw many things from these older movies, which get fricking blasted with negative reviews.
I do understand how Hellraiser 2 and 3 are disappointing compared to the first movie, I see how the disappointment could turn fans into haters BUT!!! Hellraiser 1 is a once in a lifetime experience, it was an absolute masterpiece. I find it arrogant to pretend the franchise should keep the same level of the original, it'd be great, but also a miracle! (only the godfather and a few others managed, and they're the exception!!)

This movie is literally the latest Chucky combined with Annabelle, minus the horror parts. The sort of "sci-fi" approach is very lazy and uninspired, makes you wonder if ChatGPT wrote this movie. The only honest thing about this movie is that it has been promoted with such a basic and underwhelming strategy I knew exactly what to expect, still I can't really grasp how this is a James Wan movie -especially after Malignant, which wasn't perfect but a very tasteful effort nevertheless.
Maybe, since this is a kids' movie, they could have sold the idea to Disney Pixar. I'm sure that style would have been much more consistent with the plot.
