The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Who said the lambs scream when being killed?
This movie is about not only the miraculous and creepy relationship, but as well as the marginalization of women in the society. No one in the cast sees the qualities of Clarice Sterling (and she has many - one of them being best of the class). The only person (different from the audience) that acknowledge the qualities of this women and sees her by itself and never less than any other man, is the maniac and psycopath homicide. And by this, you automatically love Hannibal, even if he is a serial killer that eats his victims. He doesn't have preconcepts between men and women, although everyone else in the society has.
This only upgrades the confidence of Clarice along the movie, and she overcomes her mentors' one by one in the investigation. The same "mentors" that judge her for their sex.
This is why we "fell in love" with this 2 characters, because they see the things from another different perspective, although being completely extreme. It makes us think: how can a maniac eat his victims and still thinks that a woman is at the same level as him? How can the thoughts of a maniac/homicide being the most correct on?
Excellent perfomance by the 2. For sure in the top best ones ever.
Gladiator (2000)
Honor and Strength.
This movie is successful in showing us how to put these words into action. All of the lines and actions are "in accord" with this code. This is how the Roman Empire was build on.
Excellent performance of the duo, trying to overcome the other in and out the movie, always with these words to count for.
I wouldn't rate this a straight 10, since in my opinion, the trama could be more developed around his vengeance and could have take another way that would be interesting to see. Although that, totally deserved of the Academy Awards, and i would say that could've sincerely won the original score award, with an honourable score from Mr. Hans Zimmer, matching the expectations of an "epoch drama" from the ancient times.
Forrest Gump (1994)
Great, great movie!
This is America. This is THE movie. This movie represents some of the most important parts in America's history from the 60s to the 80s.
Even the soundtrack is aligned with that theme.
Excellency from Tom Hanks (personally, not a great fan), representing on point a 75 QI man. His facial expression rarely moves, although he plays enumerous sensations and feelings throughout the movie. Joy, Sadness, Commitment, Anxiety (having to rescue Bubba from the war), Lonelyness. Feelings that normally make people have different reactions when feeling those. Amazing!!
Newness (2017)
How can we link? Is that so difficult?
In a contemporary Los Angeles, it wouldn't make sense to make a movie about this particular theme without being like this.
This movie shows our living standards in a world that everything can change from one day to another, and that is shown in a meticulous way in their relationship. Their relationship is enfatized as a small portion of the changes of this world. Emotions all the way in, really good stuff.
And just a small detail, the light of this movie is very strict. We can count by the fingers the acts that had light (one of them when Gabi is lay down and Martin appears after opening up with Blake), they are very few.
The lights are very important, because we can see that in this type of issues, things most of the time are more dark than shine, being that illustrated very well in the movie.
Control Z (2020)
There are series that are a lot worst than this
A Netflix's serie that doesn't totally represent Mexico's people and culture. Although being common, approaches some issues that are always important to remind that exists in this world. Not diverse though, which can be a thing to improve.
Compensates with the great production and direction in Episode 3. Huge scene. Looked very real.
Gone Girl (2014)
Great Movie!! Excellent ending!!
This movie is not about this story. This movie is about what are people's feelings when hearing a story like this.
In the entire movie, i felt divided by this two AMAZING characters, and at some point i couldn't distinct the truth from the lie (which in the movie is well represented by the oblivious and dramatically quick change of opinion of the media and people - example being the scene where people discover about the pregnancy).
This movie also makes an ironic "roast" to the media, by showing the dirts of the actions of the media, that many times (try to) choose a scapegoat just to divide people's thoughts and bring more audience.
Amazing performance by Rosamund, who plays a quiet but yet vengeful woman, two adjectives that can even be opposites or holding hands as one.
