Reality (2023)
Folded in half
To all who exposed the truth as Reality did changing the world and especially the ones who didn't survive the process, this remake of Reality's story will be a tribute. The expressions of an individual who's going to loose everything for exposing truth was patiently reenacted by Sydney. Great cinematography and visual effects that captures the moments of a hero laying down arms. Great background music. Excellent story telling by the producers to mix the actual records to thin the line between the movie and the true story. Instead of a documentary this serves the purpose much better and wishing Reality a happy birthday as well !
Bad Monkey (2024)
Too much story
It's too big of a story for it's destination. Takes a good amount of time to get seasoned with the audience. It's uniquely funny with all the bits and pieces taken from other stories here and there. A severed hand flicking off, a monkey carrying islander, a food inspector and a love story in a morgue this all adds up to great possibilities but it didn't seem like reaching it's full potential. But Vince Vaughn plays a huge part along with the star studded cast. Great use lf background music. Perfect sound effects and beautiful visuals. Story is unique no doubt but the burden should be divided more fairly with Ro opening the trunk for the second season.
American Star (2024)
Literature of death
An aging assassin and a sinking wreckage comes comes face to face with realities in a tiny spot off the coast of the great cradle. It's a thriller no doubt but the movie has it's spellbinding ways to distract audience and suddenly snap them off with the killer's nerve tense encounters. Excellent performance by the cast. Stunning visuals of the Fuerteventura. Great cinematography that captures the lonely coasts of late age and the dusty desert of it's present existence. Love and lost is for soldiers of world that's what the message this tale brings to us. American star is a hitman tale from a lovingly unique and a heartbreaking perspective.
Les chambres rouges (2023)
A great fan with perfect justice
In a society that calls out the criminals as insane we get to take a look at a modern day vigilante in this movie. Movie shows the essential amount of evil when heroine herself goes off tracks loosing herself and finally putting the case to rest going all in. Masterful plot leaves many ways to look at the conclusion which demands for future instalments. This is a well acted movie that captures the character's emotions very well , glreat cinematography. Excellent audio and video effects. A string of homicides, an unlikely vigilante and court room drama is all there in this hidden gem from Canadian theatre.
Eileen (2023)
Not for the common
A periodical drama on freedom for womanhood with a puzzling end. If indeed Eileen imagined an existence of her mate it's well described with her father's reputation having an effect on her loneliness from companionship. There's many hints at it like the shock in drunk bunch's faces when they see Eileen takes the dance floor. There's so much the story tells about a history of the world where horrors went unpunished and normalized Eileen spots a much desperate version of Joanie in Lee's demeanor and make a quest out of it and fly away for her well deserved freedom while getting two birds with one stone. Great performances, Interesting music and Great visuals to fit the mood of the story. Eileen is a unique tale of freedom.
Infinity Pool (2023)
I'm gonna go to the front desk, See if they can help
Rich can rejuvenate within the barbed wires of money while fencing away the uncivilized poverty. A righteous writer from the well-to-do world whose also an in-betweener gets trapped in the midst of self loathing and parasitic desires. A man sheds three phases of him just to recognize he is still belittled heading into a unwelcoming rainy season of loneliness. This movie portrays how the human mind gets corrupted until it becomes ordinary. Brilliant performance by Mia and Alexander. Strong clever visuals. Excellent audio effects. For alot of us who gets lost in the maze of constant change this a vivid dream or a mare of two hours.
In the Land of Saints & Sinners (2023)
A storm
Movie is slow as the quiet mountains of Donegal and the plot is the gradual perfect storm. It's more of revisit to the country's turbulent past and rewritten page of it. Considering some of the recent productions Neeson starred, this movie brings out a different character than usual. Great cinematography with all the background and excellent special effects for action sequences. Great audio effects and background music. Flawless performances by the whole cast. It's a brand new experience for all. For action movie fans this slow burning movie will be a unique experience and Liam Neeson manages to make that happens.
Cuckoo (2024)
In the nest
A horror story with a unique concept. Well landing sudden scares with it's own twisted novelty. Matriach's call was the main part of the story and that sound effect hits hard. Great scenery but the temperature of the visuals signals the cold remoteness of Alps. Sincerest performances by the cast that draws a clear picture about each character's role in the story and the distinctions of characters from one another. A young mind distraught with loss, every side of that character is cleverly unveiled. For a fresh theme and a truly unique story none like many before Cuckoo serves horror fans in a great deal.
Ferrari (2023)
Difficult Truth
Title of the movie may hints at smooth turns, joy rides and champagne but this biopic surrounding the founder of an Italian national treasure bring to us the difficult journey of an interesting line of business. Precarious life of key people, a changing world of investor takeovers and a car maker that sell cars to stay in the race adds up to a great tale.
Excellent performance by the cast and a remarkable makeover to signify the traits of each character. Perfect cinematography, visuals and special effects. Great background music and audio effects. What this movie bring to us is way more valuable than a extravagant car movie.
Gran Turismo (2023)
An impossible race
Inspired by true events this is a remarkable story of inclusivity. A sharp read of the familial relationships and the new generation's world. A reminder for the world to include the next generations to important matters too. Skill when not prejudiced at would grow and change everything around it for a better. Excellent visual effects that connects the two worlds of Jann in a stunning way. Perfect audio that injects enerygy to the story. Unique set of characters that are brought to life very well. Great cinematography that explores the lives on race tracks. This is not the usual law breaking race this new generation taking over.
Hermana Muerte (2023)
Where's the real horror
It's a well acted movie in gorgeous surroundings. Nevertheless the story is haunting but rathern than placing all evils on what's supernatural this takes the audience back to the old ways of final heartbreaking revelation and pure justice. Story is more of a criticism on traditions, willful blindness and rights. It's another production that reminds of true horrors are nothing but man-made. There's lot of hints like the wall of shame in opening scene that questions the impracticality of placing religious figures above and isolated from the social decay. Great visual effects and audio. Good horror movie to enjoy.
Slow Horses (2022)
Running out
Slow horses first season was a treat no doubt but the atmosphere it creates brought out the possibility of unique imaginations of spy thrillers being brought to motion picture but by season four it's like a loop and few alterations after regular intervals of six spins. But after being in the company with slough house for about thiusand and one hundred minutes it's heartbreaking to stay away. Though there's not so much new about weight pulling underdogs and a grumpy boss the performances, witty dialogues and uniqueness of characters makes the journey enjoyable. This is a series that brings friendship and good times to your living room.
The Marvels (2023)
Not marvelous
Loss of identity and trying to force characters that aren't even remotely in sync with the nature of story made Marvels a mockery to it's own title. Inclusion when brightly highlighted become it's own enemy. Story is disjointed villain has her own army at times and then she doesn't marking the absence of essential bit of logicality even for a comic book adaptation. There's nothing much the renowned cast could do rather than to shrug and getting on with it. While CGI struggle to make something out of this story, the holes were simply too broad. Good music and sound effects. There'll be better ones ahead just wasn't this.
Force of Nature: The Dry 2 (2024)
On the summit reminding how small we are
Bunch of different personalities, a missing person and many other entanglements sets up this thriller on a good foundation. An unfortunate mishap within a grand scheme that brings famous detective Falk into this Australian wilderness much damper than the previous instalment. Totally different circumstances but the conclusion is satisfactory could have been even better. Rich visuals of the greenery at last connects to Falks final statement of how nature reclaims no matter what we occupies our lives with all affairs are benath it. Great sound effects. Excellent performances by the cast. And this is another great instalment for Aaron Falk's adventures.
Longlegs (2024)
Pure Horror
A horror movie with an excellent story. Not dependent on jump scares but gets to the audience with simple least expected surprises. Great visuals with a hint of darkness in all outdoors that sets the mood well. Vintage cinematography and transition effects introduce a sense of nostalgia into the mix. Presence of the horned figure seen concealed in various frames proves the movie isn't dependent on showcasing entities absurdly. Excellent sharp use of audio and background music. Exceptional performances by the cast especially from Long legged Nic. For the top shelf horror releases this one is a great addition from batch of 024.
Håndtering av udøde (2024)
Sign of undead
Life is many different things of course the vital signs detect your existence but is just a fluctuating wave on a screen ? Is it just the heart that beats ? Well the dead comes back to tell us otherwise and ones who take longer to grasp that ends up in tragedy. Great cinematography to capture the worlds of live and dead clashing. The pain of loss and the consumerist notions that envelopes all logic is sharply critisized even if it's between a mother and a kid. Strong emotional performances by the cast. Audio sits well with the emotions. Movie might be mislabeled yet it's unique story make it all worth.
Bastarden (2023)
For what's worth
An end of an era marked by a one man's army with feudal blood in veins and feudal foot on his throat. A provocative portrayal of the gradual change. A fitting end to a tyranny. Advancements assisted by vagabonds when noble customs unfairly bend. All these great things were performed meticulously by the cast. Great background music and audio effects that tells the story when the moor is dark secluded but awake. Perfect cinematography. Between many period dramas that focuses on literature this movie manages to produce another Robinson Crusoe tale of courage, love and loss that's simply a joy to watch.
Prehistoric Planet (2022)
Story of giants
Tale of us told by the most excellent story teller Sir David. The human touch Attenborough gives to this documentary is wonderful. Turning towards this drama it's a brave exploration and a tremendous reimagining of an era before human history that's based upon thousands of man hours and logical findings that revived monsters out of bits and fragments they left behind. From first ti the second season visuals have evolved into better and explores more unlikely territories of this ancient wilderness. Perfect audio effects that enriches the experience. While there's been many cinema about these majestic reptiles this documentary should without a doubt one of the very best.
Malum (2023)
Scary and weary
It's a nightmarish trip with no logic and non-stop chaos. Graphic visuals and apparitions gives enough shocks to keep the abandoned station as scary as it gets. Audio effects plays a major role along with excellent visuals. Great performances by the cast too. Underlying story tells how law enforcement become the cleaning crew that wipes the dirt of the society we accept and how evils of the world infects the realms first responders in an unimaginable degree. Tragedies of bullying and trauma is also symbolized very well. Story is unique, immersive and harsh and it's worth the time despite being a remake.
Le règne animal (2023)
He took after his mother
Story that underlies is equally heartbreaking as the one on surface in this unique pandemic drama. Every dialogue and an expression of characters brings value to the story that's what's remarkable about the movie. It's haunting at times but the mutated beings symbolizes an innocence beyond human comprehension. Cinematography and visual effects were perfect for the job. Audio effects are excellent. Cast does an impressive job in unfolding this heartbreaking tale with their sincere performances that's just the right amount. Animal kingdom can definitely place it self as a movie with both reason and artistry.
Foundation (2021)
A story with a solid foundation
A futuristic tale about an astronomical humanity even beyond the age of droids. Concepts are truly remarkable thanks to the imagination of Isaac Asimov but the due credits goes to the wonderful work by the producers of this series. Great performances by the cast sincere and flawless. Excellent visuals and special effects just the right level. Same can be told about the audio effects and music. It's not just a sci-fi but a sharp commentary on politics, human relationships, faith and ultimately the uncertainty. With Gaal assembling an army of gifted let's hope the future instalments would be even more exciting.
Lady in the Lake (2024)
Social Drama
A drama about two women fighting two different battles to achieve a common goal. A drama about freedom told with magnificent visuals supported with great music. Dynamic set of characters that enables a wide exploration into the western society that's undergoing rapid change. Sincere performances by the cast full of expression. There are no heroines even the central characters are criticized for their selfish desperations. It's different not the typical thriller most of us come looking for yet succeeds in keeping any viewer engaged till the very end. Absence of a one central theme makes this watch even more worthwhile.
Walden (2023)
Words turned to action
A stenographic vigilante is not a common theme and opens up vast number of avenues for the plot to grow. But the movie's first half was too distracted with introducing the manic nature of the central character rather than focusing on the plot's progress. Introducing irrelevant characters such as romantic partners wasn't making much effect or useful. Final twist was great but police showing their findings for the sake of neighborly acquaintance was one out of many illogical things in this story. However the visuals were haunting and performances were sincere. Walden is a story that's very much interesting when summed up.
Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie (2023)
Good ol' days
Tales of Adrian Monk brings back memories of good old days and it's like nothing has changed ever since. It's same old funny little things monk does with the supporting cast returning to the scene as well. Considering this movie one would think why wasn't this done before but the timing was perfect to light up Monk for at least once more with his unique character. Great work by the cast, especially by Shalhoub never missing a beat of Monk's persona. Visual effects were a reminiscent of the tv series. Great background music. Despite the title many viewers might want to see Monk working on those cold cases for sure.
A Haunting in Venice (2023)
Magnificent
Poirot the crime magnet is at it again in the city of masks. As always, Branagh's Agatha Christie series had stunning visuals, and this episode was no exception. Wonderful special effects and visuals has the quality of a stage drama with it's lighting which was remarkably another quality of thiw series. Complimentary use of audio telling a side story while the visualy are too occupied with main plot. Great performances by the cast performing a set of unique characters. Though the customary double deaths weren't really fitting to the setup this was one of those high quality Agatha Christie movie adaptations.
