I thought this was the worst Kevin Spacey has made. It has a few clever lines in it, and a few scenes designed to provide a little momentary surprise, but they never go anywhere and seem like cheap tricks to try to keep interest.
This is a movie in search of an identity, with little consistency. Very few clues were offered for the central plot of the movie, 'is he an alien or not'. And of course the ones offered are contradictory. I admit the possibility that maybe I just didn't understand the movie, but it seems to me right now that it's a movie comprised of seemingly disconnected events. I should have made better use of my time as my wife did, she fell asleep about halfway through.

One of the best movies I've seen, and one of only a few I am willing to watch more than once. The kids have even watched it more than me. The pacing is slow but constant and the tone it sets pulls you in from the start.
In a time where everybody is going out of their way to be offended, it was nice to see someone has the courage to do something creative and different. Not the same old strained vegetables that seems to dominate most comedies, and not the murder-death-kill formula so many movies depend upon either. This is refreshingly amusing.
