Welcome to Christmas (2018)
One of my favorites!
I don't watch a lot of Hallmark - and I get the criticisms - but they do have some terrific actors and Finnegan and Mabius are among my favorites. (I watched another film he was in after seeing this and he was SO different. His comic timing and delivery are terrific. Dunno why they're not using him more in comedic roles.) Charming little story. Supporting cast were great too - especially the kids and Susan Hogan. Wish they'd make more with these 2. I'd give it a 10, but the story line was predictable and some of the supporting cast was a little weak. That said, I watch this every year when they run it.
Love, Guaranteed (2020)
Hallmark it ain't.....
And that's too bad cause it falls short of most Hallmark films I've seen. I like a lot of the actors so I watched. It lacked energy. I'm a big romcom fan, but this wasn't smart or interesting or fun or well acted or well written.....I thought my bar for romcoms was pretty low, but not this low.
Gifted (2017)
Why isn't this more talked about?
Just never heard a lot about this, but I recently discovered Chris Evans - in a small film he directed. Really liked it and really liked this. Formulaic? Most films now require a leap of faith, but there are so few good films that are character driven. Loved the performances.
It's Complicated (2009)
Doesn't get any better than this....
Cast, story, performances, SETS - all reasons to watch. Huge Nancy Meyers fan and this doesn't disappoint. It's smart and stylish and I lock it in every time I find it on TV. Eagerly await her next film. Dunno why they enforce a length for reviews, but I've said what I wanted to say. If you're a fan of romcoms and you like architecture/interior design, Nancy Meyers has gotta be on your radar.
Doctor Doctor (2016)
doesn't get any better
huge fan of the show. Found it recently through Amazon/Acorn. I am sick to death of cops, zombies, blood and guts, lawyers, swat teams. Disaster after disaster. And we wonder why people go back to their workplaces or nightclubs to blow people away. This show is smart, funny, charming - and it keeps getting better. It's at the top of my Top 10 list of all time TV shows. Performances are outstanding, as is the writing. Hope they do a Season 2 and that it goes on for a while. At the very least, I'd like to see the plot lines that were left hanging tied up. Well done all.
Crisis in Six Scenes (2016)
I would say it's 5 scenes too long....
But since absolutely nothing happened in the first scene, make that 6 scenes too long. An embarrassment to all who appear. Except for Ms. Cyrus, who apparently cannot be embarrassed. Awful ending to an otherwise remarkable career. IMDb forces me to say more. Not much to say. Acting is awful. Plot is...well, in the first 1.5 episodes there was no plot. It was silly. Not smart, not well written. Embarrassing. Why is he doing this? IMHO his recent work is a failed attempt at humor and makes me think that I was right about his work after the 80s. Self- conscience and pedantic.Second attempt to post my review, which they keep saying isn't long enough. Irony is not lost on me. I'm writing a review about someone who stayed in the game too long until he sounded like he'd run out of things to say. I know the feeling.
