Ragnarok: Ragnarok (2023)
Game of thrones level of BS
What do I even say?? This has to be one of the worst executions of a finale. The season overall was very poor in quality.
This ruined such a unique series. I have always been very interested in Norse mythology so this show was a fever dream when I discovered it in 2020. First season was soo good,so immersive, all that worldbuilding...I thought we have a fine series on our hands with beautiful scenery and location.
Second season was underwhelming, but I still gave it the benefit of the doubt that they were setting season 3 up for something epic.
But this season was just pure trash. And if this is what it was always going to be(main character trapped in a comic world) then they should have built that up from the beginning and it might have even worked.
But the last episode?? Seriously incredibly disappointing. Ragnarok could have been so big if they had stuck with the momentum of the first season, but everything went into the sewer.
Sigh.

Disturbing and sadistic
Nothing could have prepared me for this drama. It is stomach churning in the literal sense. I went in because two of my favorite actors were playing the lead roles. And this is by far their most impressive performance. Everyone nailed their roles. I haven't read the webtoon yet so I don't know how true to it the drama is.
The main character is the definition of an unreliable narrator. We see mostly everything from his POV(except the haunting last episode ofc) so it becomes increasingly difficult to tell when he begins to lose it.
He has issues, severe ones at that. I don't think I'll ever be able to tell if he became what he did because of the residence or if the people at the residence were just catalysts who brought out his inner self.
It's a very well directed drama and you get immersed into it because of how odd it is from usual dramas, even the thriller ones.
I'm sure I'll revisit it again and notice even creepier details.

Growing pains but the ending will leave you unsatisfied
I went into this drama because it's Kim Taeri's second drama and I always crave more content from her. Safe to say it was an absolute delight to watch her,she portrayed the character of Heedo so perfectly. The whole drama was a delight, up until ep 13. After that, things just went haywire gradually and it seemed like the writers didn't even know where the drama was going.
The drama depicts growing up and the responsibilities that come with it quite perfectly. Youth, friendships, first love, all nostalgic aspects portrayed beautifully. The characters, even though some Remain unlikable till the very end,all had some form of growth.
I don't understand how they messed up the last episode so royally...the characters' decisions just don't align with their personalities and how they have been throughout the drama. It feels like a sad ending just for the sake of it. It was also very abrupt and we don't even get to see what the ML is upto in the present.
Still, the actors and cinematographers all did a fantastic job worthy of praises. Nam joo hyuk has shown a lot of growth as an actor too and I hope to see him in better written projects in the future.

Hidden gem
I started watching this drama only because I wanted to watch more Choi woo Shik content. Little did I know that it would end up becoming one of my favorite dramas of all time! It's unlike any other drama I've watched before.
Even though unconventional, the plot was so interesting. All the characters were very human and they all developed throughout the drama. Relationships developed too and in a very healthy way.
It is a gem and I think I watched it at the perfect time because I'm going on a vacation soon. I hope I find my own guide eonni!

Too long,forgettable
I was quite excited when I first heard about another zombie Korean thriller. I didn't particularly have high expectations for this one but I did hope it would be memorable. It's way too long with many unnecessary plotlines. I think it could have been perfectly wrapped up in 8 episodes if properly executed. The main characters were dull to me and I couldn't relate to any of them, especially Nam Ra.
There were way too many foolish decisions that were only introduced for shock value and character development. I don't see myself revisiting this show unlike the others I've watched of its kind.

Gave it another chance and it surprised me!
So like most viewers I was a bit disappointed when I watched it while it was airing. But I decided to rewatch it with a fresh perspective and its actually quite decent. The characters and their decisions do make sense if you think about it. Nam Do San isn't that bad after all. All the characters and their choices stem from something they've gone through and I appreciate that the drama is honest about it and doesn't skirt around.
Death Note: Desu nôto (2006)
Worth the hype
I finally caved in and watched it. Needless to say,it kept me entertained throughout. It is still stylistically different from the animes I have watched and I would put it in my top 3. Characters were solid and I can now understand why they're so iconic.
The Punisher (2017)
Gritty and bloody
I didn't know what to expect when I started this and I'm surprised that I liked it as much as I did. The acting is great and there's a lot of blood ofc. I did feel that some characters didn't get enough time to develop but most of them were good enough. Ben Barnes and his character were a standout.
It's a bummer it's being taken off Netflix soon.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Not memorable or impactful enough
I don't understand why this show was so lackluster given the high production value. I haven't read the books either so I don't know how much of it they got right.
But I just couldn't get immersed in it,the world building is one of it's weakest parts. The cinematography is enjoyable and the acting moderately good at times. But no amount of expensive CGI, set design or locations could redeem it. The main character doesn't even feel like one throughout.
Chung Hing sam lam (1994)
Stylistic and charming
This follows two cops who fall in love with women who couldn't be more different from each other. The second half is easygoing to watch it felt so surreal. The music throughout the movie is reminiscent of the 90's and it gives the movie its rich vibe. I think there are many directors aiming to create this type of movies today.
The direction and cinematography are enriching and the camera work is especially enjoyable.
It's eerily beautiful in a way.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
fanservice makes it semi watchable
I was never sold on a Boba fett led series so I did have my bias when watching it. To me,part of the appeal of Boba fett was in his shrouded identity for most of the of the original trilogy. He was cool, he looked cool and fought.
But I don't blame Disney for capitalizing on the success of the Mandalorian and its characters. And they were the most relevant parts of this,so much that they completely outshined Boba Fett in his own show. It was enjoyable and that's all fans need.
I can't help but think that there just wasn't enough coherent material for the series and hence it felt more like The Mandalorian ft. Supporting characters..
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 1: Stranger in a Strange Land (2021)
Boba's survival
This is presumably right after return of the Jedi but it will obviously seem disjointed as the actor has visibly aged.
There isn't anything extraordinary in this episode and it's more of a filler. Still, a decent start by all means.
Mr. Robot (2015)
Television at its finest
Mr Robot is unlike any form of entertainment I have ever watched. It is exhilarating and plays you right from the start. Every season there's new revelations that completely overthrow your previous perceptions about it. I would definitely like to revisit it sometime in the future too.
Elliott is a very profound and intriguing character. All the characters present emotional vulnerabilities that would otherwise be difficult to confront in the type of show this is.
I am thoroughly impressed by it.
Mr. Robot: Hello, Elliot (2019)
Pure brilliance
There can't be a more fitting ending to a show like this one. I don't think I'm ready to let this show (and Elliott) go yet. Everything falls into place and it seems perfect.
It was a sublime experience to watch this.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Thaw (2022)
pacing and action focused
Another fantastic episode in this flawless season. There were some important developments too. The pacing was almost perfect and it flowed really well. I'm very excited to see how the key reveal at the end plays out in upcoming episodes. Hopefully more of the founder in the next episode!
Chomyeone Saranghamnida (2019)
Cute Fluffy drama
It's cute and the leads have good chemistry. The plot isn't something extraordinary but it's good enough. It's a lighthearted fluff drama. It's funny too and my mom really enjoyed watching it.
Eternals (2021)
Nothing particular interesting
This drags on for way too long. There is no clear direction or objective. I didn't like any of the characters we were following either. Just a waste of resources and a star cast. There is not much action either so this sets it apart from all other MCU movies.
Overall it's not as bad as claimed but not good either. I took one star away because of the past credits scene.
Shingeki no Kyojin: From You, 2000 Years Ago (2022)
Just when I think it can't get any better it DOES
Just flawless. Everything comes together, like pieces in a puzzle. You cannot even begin to think that far ahead before this show blows your mind away. I'm just in awe.... It's also very emotionally charged and nuanced. I will go rewatch it from season one now because I feel like a fool rn.
Gwaenchanhah, Sarangiya (2014)
Well written and excellent acting
The way this drama portrays mental health is commendable. I think it is progressive for its time. Though some of it is exaggerated i think it generally very well directed. The acting is great and nothing to complain in that aspect. I think the ending was too rushed and unsatisfactory and there are still some characters whose storylines were left unresolved. Overall it's still a very well done drama.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Good enough but too late
It's beautifully shot and cinematography and locations excellent. I was a bit confused by the ending but that's alright I guess. They did quite good on the worldbuilding but as someone who has watched a ton of Chinese dramas with richer worldbuilding and characters it didn't amaze me.
A Decent MCU movie in its own right they just should've made this earlier, like before Iron man 3 (?) Or something.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Memories of the Future (2022)
Left me speechless
I don't think I can describe this as anything other than pure perfection. Just...wow. Everything has been given a deeper meaning now. I can't wait to see what Zeke's thoughts are going forward. Eren oh my god it's like everything has been perpetrated as it was meant to be.
Bad and Crazy (2021)
Fun action and crime drama
This was really fun and action packed. I watched because of Lee Dong wook and Wi hajoon and they were fantastic with each other, their chemistry was so entertaining. This is basically like if fight club was a drama. "K" = Tyler Durden lol.
It's really good and I'd watch it again too. The action sequences were awesome and the plot was interesting and to keep me entertained.
Eojjeoda Balgyeonhan Haru (2019)
Questions about existence
This is one of the most thought provoking dramas I've ever come across. It may just seem like a romance drama on the surface(like the comic) but it's so much more than that. The characters having all human emotions and desires but not free will of their own,it's brilliantly portrayed. I love how there are so many layers in this drama. It's definitely very entertaining and I was left with a lot of questions about it and life while watching it.
Geu hae urineun (2021)
healing and human
This drama cannot be boiled down as just a romance drama.
At its very core, its a drama about how people deal with loneliness and the feeling of abandonment and simple human emotions. Everything about this drama feels so human. They all grew from the people they were at the beginning. Their progression felt so natural. That is the beauty of the drama, it takes simple human emotions and presents them so vulnerably that we all can relate to some part of it.
It is very well directed and written. The cinematography is exceptionally beautiful. It's very hard to find a drama like this where everything just seems to fall into place naturally. I find it to be so comforting, like a warm hug.
Widaehan Yuhokja (2018)
Did it have a purpose?
Watching this was very weird. I still don't know if the drama served a purpose. The cast is mostly stellar and I think joy did a pretty good job in her debut role. But the main criticism is that what purpose did this drama serve? The plot is nonexistent and things just...happen for whatever reason. No lessons were learned and all characters are back to square one. Especially Se-ju whose story is barely explored.
