Dying Is Easy (2021)
So Much Better than Robert Pattinson's Batman
This fan made Batman movie short is about Batman looking for three of Gotham policer officers who are missing and must talks to his nemesis, The Joker at Arkham as his request.
First of all, the short felt like watching a live action series of Batman. This could have been shown on a Netflix streaming show. The look of Gotham is good and so is the music. The acting could've come off bad, but it has good performances of the guy who plays Batman, the Joker (who's the director) and Michael Madsen as Bullock (I wonder how they cast him for this short?). The Batman costume looks like a mix of Bale & Affleck's and the fight choreography is also excellent
This will be my dream Batman show. I will watch it on Netflix or maybe guest star on. It's better than Hollywood Batman movies (except The Dark Knight Trilogy), It takes a real passionate or dedicated writers to understand the Batman lore beside the people involved the BTAS.
Overall, this is a must watch/worth watching.
Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments (2016)
Average Show, but still watchable
A second adaptation of the Mortal Instruments based on the young adult book series by Cassandra Clare after the 2013 film flops on the box office. Now there is a Freeform TV Series. Same premise about a teen girl discovers she comes from a long line of human-angel hybrids called Shadowhunters, who hunts demons. After her mother is kidnapped, Clary Fray relies on Jace and fellow hunters' siblings Isabelle and Alec to help her navigate the dark world. While living in this new world among creatures like vampires, werewolves, warlocks, and feys, Clary's best friend Simon helps her uncover answers that could help find her mother.
The cast are likable and they act exactly like the characters in the books. There is one cast that miscast it's the young actress who plays Clary. There is a problem of casting her and Jace in both film and show. I don't like how they change the characters age they are no longer teenager in this but as young adult, like making Clary 18 or 19 instead of fourteen.
I don't like how they change everything around and not exactly the same of some of the books. While it almost watchable it still little better than the previous one. After find out they were taken it off and given the show their final season it become lackluster when it returns and disappointing last episode.
Overall, I think is still worth watching and entertain; it has it moments.
Batman: Caped Crusader (2024)
The Long-Anticipated Batman Cartoon turned Mediocre
It haven't been a Batman cartoon series in years since Cartoon Network short-lived "Beware the Batman" (2013) until now. The first red flag was it was originally supposed to seen on HBO Max and HBO cancelled it before airing.
Batman role's reduced and the supporting characters are the focus. The characters are unlikable; Batman called Alfred by his last name (until last episode he finally says his name and lighter up). They change Harley Quin portrayed; In her psychiatrist persona; she's whimsical and her true self she's serious and scary. This version of Harley had no connect to The Joker. Harvey Dent is a jerk and corrupt. Movies and TV series need to stop the Two-Face origins how many times has his face messed up?
I prefer the animated series takes places on the 1970s instead of 1940s. I known it fiction but Jim Gordon who's now black (Jeffrey Wright played Gordon in Robert Pattison's Batman (in present time)) would not be police commissioner because the time period of the 1940s.
The series got good toward the last four episodes (Moving Target, Nocturne, The Killer Inside Me & Savage Night).
The series does not live up to the legacy of Batman: The Animated Series no other animated Batman series can't match it.
Mystery and Imagination: Dracula (1968)
Not Good Dracula TV Adaptation
This is the first TV adaptation of Dracula one decade before Jack Palance's Dracula and Louis Jourdan's BBC mini-series.
The episode is kind of boring. The problem is that there is more talking and less action than the previous adaptations. The scene's Transylvania and the Demetar ship are cut (think due to low budget), instead we have the Count all already in England. Also, they never explain Dracula's motive of why he chooses England.
Now for the title role, Denholm Elliott's Dracula is suave and more dapper gentleman, But he's no Christopher Lee. He's neither tall or fit, he adds a little sexual into the role, without seduction and not enough charisma. They don't show him that much and he does nothing but wonders and convince Mina and Van Helsing of give them his immortality and knowledge. His takes of the Count, attempts to befriend his victims, in order to build their trust so he can bite their necks and turn them to the undead. I know his casting choice is odd for some that they could cast a young Anthony Hopkins, Robert Shaw or Terence Stamp as the Count, but you can't blame him it the script. He does a decent and fine job as Dracula thanks to his presence and expressions.
Other two highlight are Corin Redgrave (Vanessa & Lynn's brother) and Susan George. Redgrave as Jonathan Harker is combined with Renfield after he goes insane and under Dracula's spell and Susan George is the pretty girl who plays Lucy who also falls victim of the Count. After first meeting him, she seems smitten and fascinating of him despite she's engaged to Doctor Seward. She went from naive middle-class girl into Carmilla-vibe vampire predator.
The two interesting changes they had were combining Harker and Renfield into one character and the three brides are diversity (two non-white, one black and other is Asian).
My conclusion is the episode is not great and bore.
Mystery and Imagination: The Fall of the House of Usher (1966)
Third Good Adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe Short
Mystery and Imagination is lost anthology British Horror/Thriller series that adaptation classic or short stories. In this one another screen version of the House of Usher (film release six years before).
The two stars who plays the siblings are Denholm Elliott ("Indiana Jones movies" & "Trading Places") & Susannah York (Superman's mother in Superman movies). Denholm Elliott is no Vincent Price, but he brings Roderick madness. In original story, Madeline was an ill woman who also could not leave the house because of her condition, In this version she just as insane as her own brother. Anyway, the acting is good.
There are also added new character that were not in the original story, the narrator's fiancée whom Madeline's jealous of and tried to kill in the middle of the episode.
The two best adaptation of House of Usher are the Vincent Price film version & CBS Mystery Theater radio show episode with Kevin McCarthy. Of the three version I choose the Vincent Price version.
This episode is worth watching.
Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes (2024)
More Than Just Pretty Face
This HBO documentary release never-before auto tapes of Elizabeth Taylor from 1964 & the 1980s exploration of her life from child star, adult roles, her eight marriage and her AIDS activism.
Elizabeth didn't like to be known for her face and wanted to be taken serious as actress not just a movie star. She could not act and never taken acting lesson after she told her Lassie Come Home co-star/friend, Roddy McDowall.
She had good friendship with her male friends mainly gay men's; Montgomery Clife and Rock Hudson. It shows she care for them and support them.
Also, in the documentary she reveals to the interview she's not perfect and made few mistaken on her life, she owns up that she destroys Debbie Reynolds & Eddie Fisher's marriage after her husband, Mike Todd was killed in plane crash she later regrets married Eddie because she didn't love him. She will later dump Fisher (which he deserves for what he did to Debbie). Her true love she married twice who's Richard Burton while filming Cleopatra.
The documentary I found very interesting and show more detail of Taylor's life. That's worth watching.
Journey to the Unknown (1968)
The Twilight Zone & Alfred Hitchcock Present Would-Be Show
This attempt anthology series is about everyday people finding themselves in unusual circumstances (sound familiar?). The series is produced by Hammer Horror & 20th Century Fox and the same producers who produce both AHP & Hour.
Good actors and actresses in this series, some of them could not save few of these particular episodes with Patty Duke, Stefanie Powers & Roddy McDowell.
Only good and interesting episodes are the ones about the mannequin with Carol Lynley, Vera Miles about the serial killer in the library, "Miss Belle" & "The New People" with Robert Reed (Mr. Brady in The Brady Bunch).
The positive is the scary opening intro with the whistling and an abandoned roller coaster at night.
Overall, I said it's okay, it tried to be the next Twilight Zone & Alfred Hitchcock Presents but around the 70s they will have the Night Gallery and Thriller. If the series will have a second season, they could have recurring actors Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing guest stars to make the show a little better.
Batgirl: Year One (2009)
Decent Origin Story
This origin story is about Barbara Gordon who's determined to join the ranks of fighting crime against her wishes of her father, Jim Gordon. Barbara dons a costume to become a crime-fighter, and must overcome Batman's skepticism while taking on new villains Killer Moth and later Firefly.
Good, this is better origin story of Barbara Gordon as Batgirl. This version of Batgirl gives me Sarah Michelle Gellar vibe when she was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You find out what drives her to become Batgirl. Because her father stands in the way of her being a cop and because she has to prove (to her dad, herself and Dynamic Duos). She gets a lot of amounts of rebuffing from the police to Justice League members. Batman later acceptance her (he previous rebuff her).
The mini-series already gave us a foreshadows of her later becoming Oracle.
The two main villains are Killer Moth and Firefly. Killer Moth remind me of Jim Carrey.
I hope the next motion comic should do Robin: Year One next because I never read that one too.
Terminator Zero (2024)
Disappointing and Bore
The anime series is about a female resistance fighter from the future who travels to 1997 to protect an AI scientist and his three children, who are being hunted by the Terminator (voiced by Timothy Olyphant).
First of all, the show has a slow paced. The entire time has the scientist talking to his AI computer (voiced by Rosario Dawson). He talks about saving humanity and fear of the future but nearly the end it starts to make sense. You find out how he knows about Skynet and the Terminator. The children are unnecessary, the oldest boy does stupid actions while the youngest brother is actually the smart ones. They also took parts from the two earlier Terminator movies (1984 & 1991).
The only good parts of the series are they are stay away from The Connors (John and Sarah) and introducing new characters. Alas these new characters are not interesting or likable. Also, this show made The Sarah Connor Chronicles look like it was not all that bad a show.
Overall, it mediocre and it could have been better than this.
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated (2010)
Surprise Good Hidden Gem Scooby-Doo Show
This modern incarnation of Scooby and the Mystery gang solves new mysteries in their small town, Crystal Cove.
When I first saw it last year (2023) on Netflix. The series had taken a darker turn on this modern day of Scooby-Doo. The characters are more developed: Fred is obsessed with traps and Scooby is little braver than Shaggy and become more of a badass then he was in the old show (and not all that stupid).
The first season were to focus on Fred & Daphne and Shaggy & Velma love life/relationships. First of all, Shaggy don't like Velma, and everyone also known something going with Fred and Daphne (meaning dating). Velma is meaner in this season (she became nicer in Season Two).
Season Two got better when they dealt with new threat, the evil bird's name Professor Pericles (who made his first introduction in Season One) and the main villain.
While the series has excellent storyline, they made lots of movie & TVs references throughout the series. They include cameos of other Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters. Also, the returns of Vincent Price's character & the Hex Girls.
Overall, I think the series would been better off as a movie instead of TV Series. I've been a Scoob fan since my childhood when old Scooby-Doo incarnations from 1969-1980s were on Cartoon Network. The series is worth watching and I like it, it's as good Scooby-Doo series such of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You & The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo.
Dracula (1974)
Dull Dracula
Jack Palance played the title role who search for his lost love and need human blood.
First of all, this made for TV movie is kind of boring. The castle on the inside, is not old or ancient enough, it looks too clean.
The characters are bland and not interesting enough that anyone would care for them. This is second version omitted Reinfield (Horror of Dracula) and their also remove Dr. Seward. They reduced and killed off Jonathan Harker and they combined Arthur Holmwood into Seward, Harker & Quincey Morris.
I can see Francis Ford Coppola borrow the subplot of the look for lost love. While Coppola version had Mina look like Dracula's love also Palance's Dracula had Lucy who look like her. They never explain enough about it and nether explains what happen to her, was she killed? Also, can't help this is produced by Dan Curtis.
They didn't show any concluding scene with Mina at the end and the Count didn't turns to dust after he stake. I think Richard Matherson is overrated as a writer who screenplay it.
Jack Palance made a decent Dracula, but he does not have the charm like previous actors or after him. Like when you first seeing him, he come off rude after Jonathan Harker comes to meeting him. The actor who plays Van Helsing is okay. Everyone else either can't act or forgettable.
The real reasons why we don't have good Dracula film adaptation because the story/book is not good or is difficult to adapt. The current tried to romanticize the Count while in the book he is pure bad guy.
Overall watch the BBC "Count Dracula" with Louis Jourdan and Christopher Lee's Dracula.
Tiny Toons Looniversity (2023)
Prefer The Original Tiny Toons Adventures
I don't care for it. I was disappointed last year (2023) when it premieres on Cartoon Network.
First of all, they made Buster & Babs's brother and sister. They were friends and boyfriend and girlfriend (got rid they catchphrase: "no relations"). They made Hamton scared all time and Sweetie as Babs's friend. They reduced Furball, Fifi & Shirley into small roles. I agreed on one reviewer that only character they kept the same is Plucky, who's bigger headed than ever. You only see Monty and Elmyra in later one episode.
I don't like the new voices of the characters. I prefer the original voice actors (I guess they don't cast them because they old now). I don't like they new theme song I prefer the original (guess too 90s-ish).
Overall, it is mediocre and watchable. I still prefer Tiny Toons Adventures.
X-Men '97 (2024)
Awesome Comeback
Continue where the original series left off back in the 90s. With some of the original voice cast and new ones as the X-Men characters.
I enjoy it, even thought it had more mature theme than Fox Kids. It has lots of plot twist on each episode.
Only thing annoying to me was Jean and Scott soap opera plots. Only characters that still the same were Wolverine, Jubilee & Beast. Scott/Cyclops is more badass than his live-action version (which were the writers are the blame they made him a wimp in the film).
I like how they kept the familiar awesome theme opening that everyone remembers, and I also know they change scenes whenever the characters were leaving or coming back.
So far, this is the only Disney+ streaming series of Marvel they got right this year and worth watching for so far.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024)
Eddie Made This Movie Work
The long two decade wait for fourth sequel of Beverly Hills Cop end up in Netflix streaming (instead of theater).
This time Det. Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy return to his famous role and looks great at 60s) fly back to Beverly Hills after his old pal, Billy gives him call and is caught by criminals. Foley teams up with a new young partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who's ex-boyfriend of Axel estranged layer daughter to uncover a conspiracy.
The movie is okay, it is a throwback to the original teams back (all except Ronny Cox). Eddie Murphy carried this movie and had good chemistry with Gordon and two his old pals (Judge Reinhold and his former grumpy partner).
The weakest of the film are scenes of Foley's daughter. She has resentment toward her father and a real pain in the butt. They should never add her into the story, or they could reduce her role. They also are no chemistry to father-daughter duo.
Like I said okay picture but the first ones are still the best. The second is also good but not as good as the original (still worth watching). I haven't seen much of the third one so think I will skip.
The Twilight Zone (2002)
This series deserve a second chance
This second revival of The Twilight Zone with a new host featured future Oscar Winner Forest Whitaker. I remember watch it once when I was still in my early teens when it first air in UPN in the early 2000s.
Now watching again, they have good episodes. I've seen the remake of "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street", a sequel to It's a Good Life with the title "It's Still a Good Life" with the returning of Bill Mumy and Cloris Leachman with his real-life daughter in sequel episode, "The Collection", "Memphis", "The Placebo Effect", "Hunted", "The Pharaoh's Curse", "Night Route", "Into the Light", "Sunrise", "Cradle of Darkness" & "The Executions of Grady Finch". Some episodes felt like something out of The Outer Limits series instead of The Twilight Zone and some I don't understand that come off making no sense.
They have a lot of B-listers actors and famous singers for example appears (Katherine Heigl, Lou Diamond Phillips, Ian McShane, Usher, Jessica Simpson and Andrew McCarthy).
The series didn't last because of low rating and the audiences didn't like it; it didn't deserve being dislike. I think the series should get a second season and it worth watching now.
Are You Afraid of the Dark? (1990)
Another Good Old Nickelodeon Series of the 90's
Are You Afraid of the Dark is horror/fantasy/sci-fi children anthology show about tweens and teenagers who called themselves The Midnight Society. Each ones tells scary tale every night at the campfire.
I like the series after school (before Goosebumps was release in 1995). I like Gary who is in charge of the Midnight Society, I also liked him when I was small. He's the most interesting ones out of them.
My favorite episodes are The Tale of the Ghastly Grinner, The Night Shift, Laughing in the Dark, Crimson Clown, Dead Man's Float, Apartment 214, Mystical Mirror, Water Demons, The Hatching, Captured Souls, Twisted Claw, Nightly Neighbors, Dark Dragon, The Thirteenth Floor & Closet Keepers. I didn't like the episode "The Tale of the Hungry Hounds" I found that episode was boring or the one with ghost boy with Melissa Joan Hart.
The show had better production and scarier. I have nothing against Goosebumps (I like Goosebumps), but the series has cheesy special effects.
Overall, this is worth re-watching for those who grow up in the 1990s or feels nostalgia to watch it.
Tales from the Darkside (1983)
Tales from the Crypt is so much better
I only remember looking at this when I was smaller in the early '90s when used to show reruns on Sci-Fi Channel. The series has the scary intro that everyone remember, and I only remember two episodes (the ones with Jean Marsh and other episode with Robert Forster).
Now rewatching it again from last year (2023), the series is rather mediocre. It has hit-and-miss episodes because their low-budget, not good writing and the acting is either over-the-top or bad. They have few good episodes mainly the Halloween episodes and the rest are full under okay-ish.
The truth is Tales from the Crypt is the winner (another one I grow up watching) because of a better budget. Overall, the series is not the best, it still watchable if you a fan of silly moments like me.
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
PG-13 Horror version of Chuck E. Cheese's
Five Night at Friday's is based on the popular horror video game of the same name. It about a security guard gets a job at now abandoned "Chuck E. Cheese" place. While learn about the place with local policewoman he discovered there something sinister about their animatronics.
Okay movie, but nothing special. Not worthy of a Razzie award it more of future cult following/favorite.
The problem with this film is the writing. It has slow pace, too many dream sequences and personal problems than a scary movie. It is creepy but made little to no sense (unless you read the book or play the video games).
It not a bad movie, it an okay flick. I think that it would have been better as streaming movie (Netflix, maybe).
M3GAN (2022)
Don't mess with M3gan
A woman (Allison Williams) whose is robotics engineer at a toy company creates a life-like doll for her niece who recently lost her parents. For a companion and protector until the doll takes too much interest in her owner and become more self-aware and smarter.
The story is similar to the Child's Play reboot & the original only a little bit different. The name Megan made me think of the evil little sister who terrorize her two teenage brothers in "Drake & Josh" (the way they say her name). The doll appearance is unnerving that scary type doll I will not have a kid. M3gan looks like the Olsen sisters (Mary-Kate, Ashley & Elizabeth). M3gan gave Chucky and Annabelle a run for their money. The only differences that Chucky and Annabelle are actual dolls and M3gan is life-size robot doll. The real big difference is Chucky is far worse than M3gan and his kills are a higher count. He is cursing a lot.
The film has bad acting, and we know the same story of adults giving their kids the doll that turn into a killer. It also shows everyone there is danger of using technology and how technology would turn on human (think of The Terminator and other sci-fi flicks).
I enjoy the film and I hope the sequel will be entertaining too like the movie and the unrated version is worth watching.
Gotham Knights: Pilot (2023)
The show has potential, but need to stay away with stupid writing
The series is about the murder of Bruce Wayne and his adopted son & street teens are accused of his killing. They join forces with Carrie Kelley and Stephanie Brown to clear their names and find out who murder Wayne.
First of all, the series has potential, but they should not add Batman/Bruce Wayne in the mix, because the show has nothing to do with Batman, they should make a random rich guy got murder not Bruce Wayne. There's no Dick Grayson, Damian Wayne, Alfred or Commissioner Gordon where are they? Instead, they create Bruce Wayne adopted son named Turner Hayes who was never in the comic.
It has bad writing (they brought the same writers of the bad show, Batwoman). The cast cannot act (except for Olivia Rose Keegan as Duela (who claimed to be The Joker's daughter) where her character is the only one carrying the series and Misha Collins ("Supernatural") as Harvey Dent).
Oscar Morgan is attractive lad but cannot act, like rest of CW cast they have attractive people with a lack of talent.
I will give the series another tried from episode 2-3 or 6, as along they focus on The Court of Owls. The series might end up like Riverdale. It needs to remove all the teen soap opera, keep The Court of Owls & Harvey Dent. Because this show is one that no one ask for and ruins Batman mythos to fans with stupid storylines plot.
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022)
Very Good and Interesting Take of Pinocchio
Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro (Mimic, Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, Crimson Peak & The Shape of Water) directed and screenplay of the classic fairy tale. A father (David Bradley (Harry Potter)) who wish brings a wooden boy to life in 1930's WWII Italy.
The movie was long overdue since 2010's and it definitely deserve an Oscar nominated for Best Animated Film with other Netflix cartoon movie The Sea Beast. This was darker than Disney's 1940 classic Pinocchio, but you cannot compare this to other adaptations of Pinocchio because Disney's would always top, this as the best.
They cast the right voices (Ron Perlman, Cate Blanchett, Christoph Waltz & Tilda Swinton) for all the characters including Pinocchio, Geppetto and Jiminy the Cricket (Ewan McGregor) who named is Sebastian J. Cricket (Which I still called him Jiminy). He tells the story and is a scene-stealer. This version of Jiminy is festy and want to be writer, Geppetto is depressed and grumpy, and Pinocchio is more naughty and still naive.
They had catchy songs. They were entertaining but I prefer the classic Disney songs better.
The main point about death and afterlife a father who lost his son and suddenly get a son figure and must accept him for who he is.
The movie is very good and worth watching which I will add it in the best movies of 2022. If you have small kids this film is not for them, maybe showing to older kids.
Around the World in 80 Days (2021)
Around the World with Different Fogg
Another screen adaptation of Jules Verne classic novel (hasn't been movie/tv adaptation of the title since 2004 movie with Jackie Chan). Where Phineas Fogg made bet on his friends at the Men's Club that he can circle the globe in 80 days. With the help of his valet, Passpartout and a female reporter, Abigail Fix (who at the same situations as Maggie DuBois was in The Great Race as the first woman reporter), they slowly discover the bet is partly that he wants to see the world and also find his former love.
I thought the series was okay, it only got stronger after the trio got marooned on an island.
It has good acting that keeps the mini-series going especially by David Tennant. You may not like this version of Phineas Fogg because early episodes he wasn't strong and adventurous character like David Niven's portrayed or the book character. I expect him to be more like he was as the 10th Doctor and Scrooge McDuck. You end liking the character as the series progress.
There are two major changes to two characters on the story. They made Passparout into a black man and Detective Fix into a female reporter. Both characters but mainly Passpartout keeps saving Fogg from dangers while traveling. Without them Fogg would've been a dead man.
I heard they were going to make a second season, this time another Jules Verne classic novel. These three characters were never in it but its kind fun to put them in. I wish they should've added them to Journey to the Center of the Earth. But hey it's fun idea!
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
It Could Been Better Than This
The series takes place ten years after Revenge of the Sith. Where we find an older Obi-Wan Kenobi who is guilt-stricken man still haunted about his former apprentice/friend, Anakin turned to the dark side. Meanwhile the Inquisitor are hunts surviving Jedi's including him. He must rescue Senator Bail adopted 10-year-old daughter, Princess Leia (who's Luke twin sister).
First, I will tell the good stuff about the show. Bringing back Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi who went from broken man to the Obi-Wan everyone remembers. James Earl Jones return as voice of Darth Vader. They brought a more terrifying version of Vader we never seen in the Original Star Wars Movies until Rogue One at the end. Ewan and Moses Ingram did a good job for their performances.
We finally had flashback of Obi-Wan and Anakin, but I didn't expect be flashback from before Attack of the Clones instead of the Clone Wars. The CGI de-aged of Anakin was not good enough. They tried to make Hayden Christensen looks like how used to look in Attack of the Clones as teenage Anakin (aged 19). But he still looks older (he's at his early 40s).
Now here is the bad part. They didn't need Leia in the entire show, because they turned it into her show. First of all, she acted too grow instead of act like child. Second, she never met Obi-Wan she heard of him, but she never met him. And finally, why did she never remember all of this. They ruined Princess Leia character however she still how she was in the original film trilogy. This series title is Obi-Wan Kenobi not Princess Leia. The episodes are poorly written, and some scenes don't make any sense (for example: Reva goes after Luke and tries to kill him). They made Mandalorian show look epic. They only got three episodes that were good episode 3, 5 & 6. This was because they were focus on Obi-Wan & Darth Vader and less Leia. If they are making Season Two, they need to hired better writers like Dave Filoni (who wrote The Mandalorian, Star Wars Clone Wars & Rebels) who understand Star Wars lore & seen both six films & television.
I not trying to say I dislike the limited series, but it could've been better. It got good later on, so it mediocre at best. I hope it will be Season Two soon to see what Obi-Wan next adventure will be.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part III (2022)
Little Better than the Two Episodes
Episode three finds Obi-Wan and Leia on desert-like planet. While attempt take her home to her adopted parents. Obi-Wan seems to be suffering PTSD and has trust issues. Meanwhile Reva notified Darth Vader and Vader joins her and other Inquistors the quest for revenge on his former master/friend for leaving him for dead in 10-years.
The episode is little better, but they need to get rid of Leia. Leia is little annoying in this, however she's much better than she was in two episodes, this time she acts like a real child should act, asking questions and said, "I want to go home". We find a little backstory of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Which I recently read the first book of Jedi Apprentice, Obi-Wan doesn't know his family, all he knows is growing up in Jedi Temple. I am happy they brought back James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader. Vader and Reva are more menacing in this story. It's really show everyone's afraid of Darth Vader when villager was hiding and Vader taunting and using the force to choke and drag Obi-Wan in the fire. This is too similar when he messes up Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back. I didn't expect Dark Vader this early in this episode, I thought we are seeing him at the last episode.
Ewan and Moses are still the strong highlight through three episodes, for their performances and I hope upcoming episodes is good.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part II (2022)
What a Big Disappointing
The limited series takes place 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. Where we find an Older Obi-Wan Kenobi who is guilt-stricken man still haunted about how his former apprentice/friend, Anakin turned to the dark side. He ends up pull himself out of self-pity when the Inquisitor who hunts surviving Jedi's including him. He must rescue Senator Bail adopted 10-year-old daughter, Princess Leia (who's Luke twin sister).
After seeing two episodes this is a big disappointing. The series focus on two female characters: Reva, a vicious and over-ambitious antagonist. She loathes Obi-Wan for whatever reason. She's the mystery, could she be one of the survivor children/Younglings in Order 66? Then there Leia, she's a real pain the butt, she keeps run away and act too grown up. The episodes are poorly written and don't make sense (Leia don't meet Obi-Wan but she heard of him). It has bad acting (except from Ewan McGregor and Moses Ingram as Reva where both did good job).
The series has four episodes to go, and I hope it get better as long they have episode three where Kenobi send Leia home (I have a bad feeling she will be in entire episodes. Which is not good). This is about Obi-Wan Kenobi not Princess Leia she should've guest cameo for one episode not the entire show.
