Christmas on Cherry Lane (2023)
Different.
This is really interesting that I'm saying this about a Hallmark movie. That's because it's incredibly different from any other Hallmark movie. Yes, they have the love. Yes they have all the other blah blah blah, yada yada yada. But I love the way that they took three different storylines from three different years in the same house and tied them all together. You just don't see that sort of thing these days. And, just when you think you've got it all figured out, they throw you a curveball. I like a nice curveball. I like it when a movie keeps me on my toes and I don't honestly see what's coming till almost the end. That's why I'm giving this one 10 out of 10. Well done whoever wrote this one.
A Biltmore Christmas (2023)
Refreshingly different
Just when you think you're going to get the same old, same old, you get something so refreshingly different that it takes you by surprise. The chemistry between all the actors, in addition to the way, they picked up the 1940s terminology, really made this one refreshingly different. The script within the script was interesting as well. Looking to find out what the original ending was supposed to be, only to make the Director end up, giving a happy ending instead of what was actually the original. Then bringing it through to the end of the current movie. Would you? Would you give up everything for a chance at happiness?
A Merry Scottish Christmas (2023)
Issues abound
My first problem is with the brothers wife. They're not doing well. They have been trouble in their marriage, but as soon as there's a castle, she wants to be a Duchess. Little selfish. She's not even part of the family, and she's trying to take over the castle.
Second problem? The younger sister of Duke is not a Duchess. They color her lady whatever her name is. And being a doctor, they have more respect all around, I would stick with Dr. Morgan.
My main question is this why doesn't the mother just become Duchess, so that nobody has to worry about it. She doesn't have to actually be there. The estate runs just perfectly fine with the max dude running it.
There were just too many issues in this one for me. Maybe I'll just lay off the Hallmark movies.
When I Think of Christmas (2022)
Eh
About as typical as a hallmark Christmas movie can be. Charge the two mains did an excellent job at conveying their characters. The biggest problem I had with this entire movie was the fact that the mother couldn't sing to save her life and couldn't carry a tune if you put a handle on it. I think another reviewer said it best. This movie would've been much better if it ended with the two main characters singing that final song instead of bringing the mother up on stage. Really killed the entire mood and flow of the movie every time that woman opened her mouth to sing. Out of tune and pitch is being nice.
Love, for Real (2021)
What a Joke
Are usually have nothing to do with movies about reality shows. I hate reality shows, so I would I watch a movie about them? The thing is, the TV was on in the background while I was doing something else, and I never got around to changing the channel. Even if I set out watching the show, I would've changed the channel immediately as soon as there was the slightest bit of manipulation. That happened within the first 20 minutes, and continued throughout the entire movie. I hate those types of movies. Add onto that how bad all of the acting was, and you have one of the worst movies of ever had the displeasure of watching. Bad writing, Bad acting, bad everything. Well, except the scenery of Hawaii. Because Hawaii was definitely the real star of the show. Too bad everything else about it was horrible.
Love in Zion National: A National Park Romance (2023)
No
Let me tell you the problem I have with this particular movie. The guy on the helicopter got permission to do a flyover for photography. They illegally landed. They illegally excavated without a permit. Then they illegally removed it from the park and the tribal people. So, you use the satellite phone, call ahead have the federal government meet them when they land and seize the property that belongs to the tribe.
I honestly don't expect much from these Hallmark movies. Or, movies from other channels like them. However, I really expected them to have at least a better train of thought than this. Very simple way to finish it. Still could've got another half hour into the movie. Things like this just anger me.
Feliz NaviDAD (2020)
Different Enough
AnnaLynne McCord is a very sexy woman. Her chemistry with Mario Lopez in this movie was incredible. This was something different from each of them and the result was a rubber stamp television Christmas movie that was different enough to be unique. For once this story doesn't involve snow swept landscapes or getting stuck trying to find your way home. It takes place in Arizona and involves family already together and looking out for each other. Of course the falling in love part is present as expected.
Add that the film was directed by Melissa Joan Hart and you have a wonderful example of what this generation is capable of.
The Art of Christmas (2022)
Not Bad(ish)
Unlike some of the other reviewers. I kind of liked this one. It had Christmas themes throughout without being overly Christian and its execution. I like the premise of the artist not liking the work and throwing it away she's in someone else finding it and thinking it's beautiful. That's not a spoiler, it's in the description. I also like that the characters are obviously falling for each other without any pretense of starting off in a negative fashion. They obviously have feelings for each other throughout the entire movie and afraid to admit it to one another, either. This is refreshing to me.
A Christmas... Present (2022)
Too Christian
I think this movie went too far mentioning all the Christian things. I don't mind Christmas movies that briefly mention or have a slightly religious theme, but this one went too far quoting scripture and things like that. Also, the main character played by Candace Cameron Bure Seemed very unchristian in the way that she treated her family. She forced them to go do things they didn't want to and continually interfered with her brother and his daughter grieving their loss.
If this is what GAC is it going to put out for movies. I'll stick to Hallmark. I understand that they want to be different. But they are taking things too far. (At least in my humble opinion.)
A Royal Christmas Match (2022)
Really
The biggest problem I have with this movie is a history professor, that has never worked in true diplomacy, telling a princess, that has worked in diplomacy for her entire adult life, that she doesn't know what she's talking about. Pretty misogynistic. I would've told him off.
The problems I have are the fact that you can see the outcome way in advance. As soon as the princesses friend the Duchess showed her new documents that were found, you knew they were going to be principal later on in the movie. Also, the aunt that is a duchess was obviously looking to create problems for maintaining the university from the first time you met her.
