Borderlands (2024)
Just, awful
I don't even know how to fully express all of the ways that this movie wasn't good.
Whoever's idea it was to take characters that are supposed to be in their 20's and 30's and age them up to their 60's and 70's needs to be fired.
Also, whoever keeps hiring Ariana Greenblatt, needs to be fired. She is awful. In everything.
The special affects were comical, I've genuinely seen better in early 2000's films.
Then let's talk about the costuming!! What the actual heck!? Did the budget for this movie just go straight into the directors and producers pockets? Because it definitely wasn't used on the actual film itself.
The Deliverance (2024)
Christians should Stay Away from horror films
I watched Zac Bagans Demon House and found the story very interesting, so of course whenever I heard that there was a movie actually being made I was so exited! Seeing Glenn Close gave me hope and then.... Christians happened. The story had so much potential, the actual events that happened to the Ammons family were terrifying, but instead they decided to turn it into some weird, cringey Religious Ad. "If you don't believe in God enough you'll be an addict, hit your children and get possessed by demons". It's a shame because the little boy did such a great job, and it actually had a few creepy moments, but by the time all was said and done it ended up being an overly religious blaxploitation film more than anything. So disappointing.
Matt Rife: Natural Selection (2023)
If you like drügging womens drinks this is the special for you
If you've ever peacefully been living your life and thought "you know what would be great right now? A privileged, undereducated, yt male with absolutely no real life experience explaining to me why women deserve to get hit and that the rules of society should not apply to attractive people" then you've found the special for you.
The worst part of the entire thing is that half of the jokes he took from popular memes and Twitter threads aren't even funny! At no point does he use that pink little wad of bubblegum in his brain to even slightly attempt to put together a relatable story or set up a decent punch line. If you remember being in the hell that is a Middle School Lunch room, and remember the little boys desperately attempting to gain attention by being offense, thats this.
The Biggest Loser (2004)
Hating this show is such Hypocrisy
We are allowed to have tv shows about alcohol addiction, drug addiction, gambling addiction, addictions to drinking gasoline and eating diapers, but the second there is a show that centers around people who are on the brink of death due to food addiction it's an issue? There is no shame in needing help for ANY addiction. People will sit by and watch My 600 Pound life where they show those in need struggle and suffer, but the second we show how to avoid that misery and fate it's offensive.
The few who have been on the show and have claimed it gave them an eating disorder forget that they Already Had An Eating Disorder. Most of them were killing themselves and were ridden with a slew of diseases that they did not have at the end of the show, I get that for some reason shining a light on addictions and disorders that can be helped is somehow wrong, but The Biggest Loser has genuinely helped me fight through depression caused obesity numerous times in my life. It's reputation pisses me off.
Prey for the Devil (2022)
Ignore Bad Reviews
I am SO tired of people who don't actually like horror movies taking the time out of their miserable days to review and rate them.
This deserves so much more than a 17% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5 here, and is a prime example of why I do not ever trust any horror ratings or review. It's like the whole genre is just a free for all for incels to pick apart.
This movie was SO good, I adore scary films and watch them because I actually like the genre, and this one instantly went to a high spot on my favorites list. It was genuinely so creepy, and very entertaining. The way it left off makes it seem like there may be a sequel and I can only hope!!!
The Dark Pictures: The Devil in Me (2022)
Blech
I was able to play every other game by these creators within a day, most within 5-6 hours. But this one took me about three weeks to shove through.
More than half of the directions you go end in dead ends with no clues along the way or at the end, and they'll give you about 7 different options with only One having One clue. Matt's gameplay is long, boring and just utter garbage, and whoever thought that the stupid coins that you think might be clues were a good idea should honestly be fired from the game making industry all together.
This game was so utterly disappointing, maybe I just had my hopes a little too high, I just wasn't expecting to either be bored or annoyed for 70% of the game play.
Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies (2022)
Disgusting
If Caylee doesn't get to tell us her side of the story, then I have absolutely no interest in listening to what the person who took her life has to say. Especially when that person was the one who was supposed to keep her safe.
Anyone who believes a word that comes out of this narcissistic liars mouth should truly feel ashamed of themselves, I will never forget following this case as a kid, and now that I'm a mother myself just hearing Casey's name is enough to boil my blood. Baby killers shouldn't be allowed outside of bars, non the less allowed to have their own documentary where they're able to spew lies.
Ginny & Georgia (2021)
Ginny is Awful
If you've made it farther than the first season of this tv show then I truly salute you. I was honestly so excited to give it a watch, it had been suggested by a few friends and being mixed myself I was excited to find a character that I could relate to.
But Ginny makes this show completely unwatchable. The character is infuriating and honestly nauseating, they made the black girl act like some privileged yt prom queen and I just cannot stand it, and we won't even get into how bad the actual acting from the actress who plays Ginny is.
I made it to episode 10 and I feel like I should receive some kind of medal for patience.
The Menu (2022)
Instant Classic
I just watched it and am already ready to go back for another viewing.
I honestly cannot gush enough about this film. From the acting to it's tongue and cheek nature, it is entertaining from beginning to end.
Whether you're trying to figure out exactly what is going on or if you're attempting to figure out who the "bad guy" of the group may be before the big reveal, you'll start to realize that there really isn't a clear answer to either question. You'll switch side's several times, and by the end you're just left visually appeased and thankful that you were invited to join the group on experiencing The Menu.
Barbarian (2022)
Wild
What a wild ride.
I genuinely hate this new "600" character minimum, because I wish that I could just simply tell you that this movie is crazy and you absolutely should give it a chance if you're into horror films, but now I have to really draw it out,
So I will say that you never know what is coming next with this film, when you start you think you have a subtle idea of what it may be about, but I promise you're wrong. There are so many twists and turns, with an ending that you'd need a crystal ball to see coming.
Absolutely more than worth the watch, and should be on any true horror fans watchlist.
Wrong Turn (2021)
Pleasantly Surprised
Listen, I put this on in the background while doing some work and thought nothing of it. I wasn't ever the biggest fan of the original Wrong Turn movies, so I wasn't expecting much. When I tell you about 25 minutes in I had to completely abandon my work because this movie had my full attention, the twist is a little "meh", you may miss the whole "cannibal mutant" aspect from the original films, but it is still more than worth a watch.
Last Night in Soho (2021)
What a trip
I completely understand how this one can be a little too intense for some, but if you're a fan of thinking a little, trippy effects and plot twists left and right then this is the movie for you. I will admit that it takes a little too long to actually become a "horror" film, but once it gets there it's obvious why it's in that category.
Day Shift (2022)
Genuinely so fun
I am not going to lie I was in the worst mood whenever I put this movie on, and it turned that right around. Such a fun, silly and action packed movie, I'll absolutely be watching it again.
The Black Phone (2021)
SO GOOD
The combination of true crime and horror makes this movie so, genuinely creepy. Ethan Hawke is creepy anyway, but when you put him in the roll of sadistic child predator it is beyond intense. Don't get me started on how badass the little sister is!
Orphan: First Kill (2022)
So much better than expected
I was very pleasantly surprised with this movie! I watched the first movie when I was a kid and have been a fan ever since, and this one really didn't disappoint. They didn't do the best job at making her actually look like a 9 year old, but other than that it kept me on my toes.
Turning Red (2022)
Gorgeous
Such an inclusive, intelligent and well executed movie.
I promise you any negative reviews come from angry white people who only want their cultures represented,
anyone else with a couple brain cells can see that this beautiful film is a must see.
Umma (2022)
I went in excited, and left disappointed
I love Sandra Oh, and I love Korean horror films. I thought that this was going to be a match made in heaven, but honestly calling it a horror movie is almost offensive.
Umma is predictable, boring more times than not, and all around just a lame attempt at something that could be amazing.
X (2022)
I appreciated it
The cinematography and vibe scream 70's, they stayed true to the aesthetic from beginning to end and I appreciate the old school cinematic moments.
Was the over play of sex annoying? Absolutely, but again, it stayed true to the time the movie is trying to represent.
I loved the acting, the kills were cool, it's a fun movie.
Antlers (2021)
Interesting
It's not the worst and not the best, I know that doesn't really say much but it was just a very meh movie for me. Would I recommend it to my friends and family? Peobably not, but I didn't dislike or hate it.
Choose or Die (2022)
Pleasantly Surprised
I threw this on for background noise and was so pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Captured my attention and held it all the way to the end, it even managed to make me jump a couple of times. More than worth a watch.
No Exit (2022)
Predictable and Annoying
Know that most of the positive reviews came out the second the movie did and are fake. It is tedious, annoying and beyond predictable, there is nothing special here.
Portals to Hell (2019)
No
Coming from someone who genuinely believes in the Supernatural and has had plenty of their own experiences Katrina Weidman sucks and is not one to be taken seriously. I don't even have to mention Jack Osborne, if you have a brain cell and know he is involved it's gonna be fake and stupid.
The Call (2020)
Ignore Bad Reviews
Most of these reviews are the result of weird people who don't actually like horror movies, but still insist on watching them just to have something to complain about.
Lin Shaye and Tobin Bell are just the icing on top of a decent movie with a good plot and some genuinely creepy scenes, and that twist ending!? I really didn't see it coming. Remember anyone can leave a crap review, give this film a chance.
The Night House (2020)
Ignore Other Reviews
Honestly, people are stupid, especially when it comes to horror films.
This one is absolutely worth the watch. It is so intriguing, keeps you guessing until the very end, and the lead actress is phenomenal.
If you actually like horror movies, you'll like this one.
The Deep House (2021)
Not horrible, Not the best either
I really didn't know what to expect, and I've let the movie sink in for a bit and am still not sure whether I liked it or not. There were scenes that made my heart race, don't get me wrong, but the down right horrible decisions made by the two main characters, and the fact that neither of them are likeable in the least bit throws everything off. The end wasn't the best either.
