Yûgiô: 5D's (2008)
Better than first
Yu-gi-oh 5d's is much better than the first one. Not to say the first one was all that bad,but this spin off is just more intriguing than the first one. It is easier to relate as well because it has a lot to do about making choices and the difference between good and evil. Once again not to say the first Yu-gi-oh didn't this series just deals in a stronger more direct way. This series is very strong and direct and really re-enforces positive values contradicting what some people say such as show like this just have to do with devil worship. Sure their is some mythical view points but it is just a cartoon and cartoons are for fun right? Well, this cartoon is it will keep you laughing wondering and excited all in one episode.
American Playhouse: Into the Woods (1991)
Good if not dark and twisted....
This play was pretty good until act 2. Then things started getting weird. Many main characters die and certain affairs really cast some dark shadows on the thing. It would of been a great play for children if not for the second act. It really depressed me after I saw it. Ecsapalliy after the first act was so happy. It still didn't wrap up a few loose ends even after all that trouble to do so. Also I didn't like the way Jack kinda changed from the beginning of act two to the end. It still leaves a good message at the end though about children learning from you. One more thing they should of given more screen time to Rapunzel and her prince and made her seem like less of an airhead. I also think she should of kept her hair.
Wishbone (1995)
So GooD...
I hate that this show got canceled. It was great. I love it. My favorite episode is Romeo ad Juliet. It was the first version I ever saw of it and the only till middle school and then I could relate it back to wish bone. It is one of the best kids show I ever seen. It is right up there with the popular Aurthur. If you ever get a chance to watch you should ,and the books are really good too if you ever see any of them. Wishbone is really cute too and the cast does a good job too for the time. The only thing is that many actors double up as characters. Still one of the best ever and worthy to remember. It is funny as well as educational.
Babe: Pig in the City (1998)
Yes it may be a little dark...
Yes this film maybe a little dark ,and hard to understand for children I really enjoyed it as a kid. My favorite part is seeing all the animals get caught and then escape to the farm. This film is for older kids. Also when compared to original it shines considerably darker ,but by itself it stands firm. The darkness as I said intended for older kids teaches how this world can be an unkind place can be ,but to stay strong. Babe is still as sweet as ever just matures as his ignorance fades away. As for the dog drowning, the accident led to a needed rescue/turning point in the film. I give this movie a 4/10 because it could of not turn from original so much and the apes in the movie are really misfit.
Great Expectations (1934)
It is hard....
It is hard to compare this version or any other version of Great Epacation because of the numerous ones made ,and the fact that they were all made in different time periods. The main idea though is to get the point of the novel across. This version does this in a very timely manner as well as appealing. While it may not be a blockbuster it is a fair interpretation of the movie. It should not be taken lightly. It is in fact a great movie for the use in teaching of the book. Were is in the place I view this fine production. Even though it is not the best I want to reinforce again it should not be forgotten ,and should be remembered as a classic.
An American Idol Christmas (2003)
Oh I remember.....
That Christmas long ago by the fire I sat and watched this Christmas special. It was a Christmas special basically like all the other one with pop stars. It was fun though. A tradition I wish that American idol would have kept up. Now American Idol is going down the drain. Still the stars it has reared still remain. Such as Kelly Clarkson who danced and sung that night is still dancing and still sinining. Also Rubin and Clay are still in the business. And since that Christmas night (if you would call it that it being in Novemember) there have been a few more star like that now famous country singer Kerry Underwood.
Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005)
Herbie
All I can say about this movie is that Matt Dillion's acting skills blew many of the the other acting away. He really put a hundred percent into this movie. The standards for this movie were so high ,and he meet them on every level. I couldn't imagine there beining a Heribe remake without him being there every step of the way. Still, the originals are better ,but Matt Dillion made this one come pretty close too topping them all. Of curse he needed his supporting actors like Lindsey Loham so I give them some credit as well. You must see this movie master piece Dillion brings Herbie back to life in a whole new way you don't won't to miss.
Oliver & Company (1988)
Another Disney classic....
Oliver and company is sure to leave you howling with delight. Its great message ,everyone needs love, is sure to get threw to your kids with these unlikely heros. A full squad of dogs and a cute lovable cat even a person or two. Its musical numbers will get children movin to the groovin. Everyone I think can appreciate this Disney classic. It is so on the move it is sure to capture and keep attention spans of all levels ,and ages. I t is a movie you will not soon forget ,and you will want to watch it over and over. You will be right there with the characters threw each ,and every turn. I would recommend this movie to anyone.
The Karate Kid Part III (1989)
The Karate Kid triogloy could not be complete without it.
I mean sure Dainel still gets beat up quite a number of times, but Ralph Macchio put so much heart into that role just as he did in his role as Johnny Cade in the timeless classic The Outsiders. So give the guy his props for taking this predictable plot line and turnining it into a masterpiece. That will be cherished throughout time. From generation to geration. This is a real American film which we can not only enjoy ,but we can also learn from. So we will not make the same mistakes Daniel did. We can teach are kids the un forgettable morals that we learn fromm this great film. The Karate Kid just wouldn't be complete without it.
The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue (1998)
Terrible
First and foremost the plot is worth nothing. A segual to the secret of nimh ,a good book and mediocre film, this movie was unstable. There was no sequaul to the book and shouldn't of been to the movie. There was also a few holes. Secondly, it's characters were unbelievable. They were not true to the characters of the first film. Also the name Brisby was changed to frisby unlike the book.Thirdly, the settings in the film seem fake ,and unimaginative. The only strong point to the movie was the voice skills of Ralph Macchio. Whose talents were completely wasted. This is not a very tasteful movie. Only a young child would it if it kept their attention span, and didn't friretigened them. For some parts seem scary for children. Do not watch it.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)
What is this?
This sequel is nothing to it's predecessor. Its complex plot line is way to hard to follow. It will leave viewers minds confused. The twist of brining barbosa back was not a good thing. It totally undose the plot of the first one. The actors hung in there though ,and tried to pull off this compelex confusion of a story. Yes, all the scenery and score were still top rate ,but the plot line is what makes or brakes a story. In this case it broke it. The Governor would of never been treated so cruelly, and even though it's funny the Commander would not have ended up a poor drunk. This movies research definitely went to the swine. Yes, pearls ,no pun intended, definitely were cast to pigs.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
terrific!
This movie is sure to astonish you. It is has so well devolped charactercs, breath taking scenery, and a plot line leaving you ictching for more. The actors bring this movie to life. It is fun for the young and the old. It will lead young minds to adventure ,and dreamers to far away places filled with pirates ,and compasses that don't point north. It is so intruding you will want to watch it over and over again. It is a timeless classic for the family even if it still has those fun pirates myths. Even with those myths it still brings in new fantasist pirate styles. That are sure to kept you laughing for quite some time. This is the kind of film we need more of today.
The Secret of NIMH (1982)
If your a fan of thee book don't watch the movie....
This movie is fairly good if not compare with it's book. It is not true to the book. The book is given a slightly darker tone ,and is aimed more for adults. It does however do a good job in portraying most of the characters. Eccespailly, Mrs. frisby. Note however her name was Brisby in the book. If you want to watch this movie I suggest reading the book first. Just wahing the movie could be a waste of your valuable time. I gave this movie a 4 out of 10 because it was a fair attempt at brining the book to life while still be beingig an enjoyable ,and worthwhile film. Appealing to the age group it was intended for to wacth.
Tuck Everlasting (2002)
"Opens the young's mind fills the old's hearts."
This is the saying I would give to this book/movie. It basscily describes it in one senctence. This book/movie educates why young readers why immortally is not all it's cracked up to be. It gives the older a sense of knowing that in the end ever thing will be all right. Plus It is a classic. Even though the movie strays from the book a little you still can appricate it. The movie allows the same story to be viewed from a older Winnie. I also liked it better in my younger years. In the book you see the story from an older Winnie. Both are enjoyable and both. teach the same moral. Both aren't soon forgotten after they are put back on the shelf.
The Outsiders (1983)
If you love the book you'll love the movie
The outsiders is a great book and movie! I love it. It is a timeless tale with remerbale characters. This is a fun movie about two rivail groups the socs and greasers told through the eyes of the 14 year old ponyboy. This movie is great not only for middle schoolers but for older adults as well because it teaches the timeless lesson of differences in us and others. I highly suggest this because you want soon forget it and it's not long and complicated. It's plot is down too earth not to mention it's characters. It is a highly creative film and it is true to the story which is another reason I like it. Even though it has sort of an abrupt ending it is efficient and powerful. If you've read the book and loved it watch the movie.
