An enthralling masterpiece. T.E Lawrence, one of history's most astounding figures, is wonderfully played by the illustrious Peter O'Toole. This movie entertained me from beginning to end; from the beautiful score in the beginning, to the bittersweet ending. Wonderful characters emerge throughout this grandiose film. Omar Sharif, in the film that made him a star, plays Ali brilliantly. His raw emotion and chemistry with Lawrence is mesmerizing. King Feisal is played by the always magnificent Alec Guiness, who shows us that great actors only get better through their movies. And let us not forget Anthony Quinn, playing Auda abu Tayi. Quinn has to be one of the greatest actors of his generation. With Jack Hawkins as Brighton, a star contrast to Lawrence, and Claude Rains who plays the very dry Mr Dryden. Containing some of the most violent scenes of it's time, the battle scenes seem to become larger than life (especially on a home-entertainment system like I watched it on!) and depict the Arab cavalrymen in all their glory. The desert scenes are beautifully shot, and the exasperatingly large amount of work that director David Lean puts into the film comes out wonderful. One of the top five greatest movies ever made, and the greatest epic ever made. I recommend this movie to whomever wants to watch a film that will take you to Arabia in WWI, surrounded by the greatest actors of their time, and all time. Makes sure you don't miss Lawrence of Arabia!
Club Wild Side can probably be classified as one of those movies you can only find on Cinemax and Showtime. You can really never find it in a movie store or rental place. Because usually it's either not there or it is checked out,(which seems to happen a lot!) The movie itself is not terrible, it just seems to be misunderstood as a romantic/drama. And if you are not pleased with that classification, just call it anything you want. I myself enjoyed Club Wild Side. Okay, okay, I admit it! The sexual scenes are a big part of why I like the movie! But that's not all I liked about it. The photography was great, and I think Julie Condliff is quite a good actress, and hopefully she will get involved in more movies. She is very talented in theater as well a stunningly attractive young lady. James Horan is also very good in this, he seems to brighten up the show with his superb acting and mild chemistry between Lora. I liked this movie very much and I encourage you to watch it for not just the sex but also for the acting, plot and photography.
I expected the new 2001 Planet Of The Apes movie to be a high-tech blast of chills, thrills, and spills. It had none of that, I was not chilled or spilled. But I was thrilled at the end! That was pretty cool. But I won't tell ya anything about the ending so don't worry. Of course, the ending was nothing compared to the original- (and if you haven't seen the original I won't give that ending away, either.) Some scenes were quite ridiculous, though. And the storyline was not as good as the original. Although at least Tim Burton had his own special storyline instead of copying the original's. Overall, it wasn't a bad movie. If you like movies without blood and a lot of swearing, and you are not totally opposed to science fiction, I think you won't be disappointed, but won't be exactly thrilled either.
