Well, of course I just discovered this and of course it's only two seasons and i am late to the party. I can not believe this is only two seasons and, maybe it was ahead if it's time. I have no clue if the second season is this good. I watched some of the episodes twice and it's pretty sophisticated for being a comedy about gamers. The characters are really well cast and Alloson is excellence and of course we love our main character characters.. I have no clue if the second season ends it or everyone was left wondering and hoping for a third season? I don't know yet. Season one was really good and I'm sad to see only two seasons.. The only good thing about discovering this in 2025 is that it's pretty clear there won't be another season which is sad but also I'm not left hanging.
In the late 60'a an orphan's dream of becoming part of high society may be on the verge of coming true but she has to make it happen all by herself. Kristen Wigg performs as a highly watchable character that is not immediately relatable or lovable thus creating intrigue and allows us to expand our scope of appreciation to the generous helping of characters, the remarkable setting , exceptional scenery outrageous costuming and tasteful characters and their development . It all unfolds ad she quite desperately navigates the socialites, old money, no-money and the nuisances of Palm Brach's elite society. The prize is to gain access and acceptance into the Palm Royale country club. Each episode is a delicacy., its bounty , a feast for the eyes, rich immersive visuals , well-cast characters and delicate timing.. A whimsical and lovely blast from a past that doesn't have a foothold in today's world. Her desire to be a part of this group of self absorbed and indulged women is ever her plight yet never forced .on the viewer. There are few shows that can transport us to a place so luxurious and entertaining, allowing us break from the world around us . I can't wait for season two !
Least I forget, M Night writes, directs and produces his own films. An impressive wholesome cinematic feat. Trap has a great premise and may have easily been a limited series, far mote fleshed out and accessible ( as far as believably) but that isn't really what he is about . The ability to suspend belief and take it for what it is may be more a fans game. I will continue to appreciate and look forward to his work. M Night is a gifted story teller with a personal vision im his films, they are not necessarily horror but suspense. The suspense was finely crafted and carried out here. The story is engaging , unusual and yet as usual, is current and speaks to the times in a multifaceted approach. His movies are fantastical , relevant and intriguing. Trap is mo different in it's delivery. Sure there are so many moments that could rob it of it's credibility ( for example's procedural elements) there are a few 'offenses' that may take the viewer some real work to overlook however, once one fully enters M Nights world , the payoff is a unique and entertaining experience, realizing one talented mans concept and imagination. I highly doubt that work like his will ever be more than internet famous. He is a throw back , forge ahead and welcome organic creator in a time when we are on the the verge of needing and expecting entertainment over artistic vision. Highly recommend all his films to understand the scope of this modern day gifted 'one man show 'dreamer.
