In the midst of a totalitarian dictatorship, an eccentric man risks his life and uses his wiles to save what he values far more than his society does. What, you mean you've already seen "Schindler's List?!" But what if, instead of saving people, the man just saved art - tons and tons of splendid art?
This amazing story, with characters as wild and bizarre and wonderful as any you'll see in any flick, is terrifying, heartwarming, funny, and hugely human. Even if you're not an art-lover, this tale tells so much about our times, there's no way to not be moved.
It's both a good and bad thing that this came out in a time when there were so many important and excellent documentaries that this got ignored by the Oscars. It's a movie for everyone - take your grandmother and your kids. Cannot recommend it enough.

"Trail End" is a marvelous quiet, mature, poem of a movie. With excellent acting, gorgeous photography and locations, and a sure, steady, creative voice, this simple tale of an aging cowboy and horse taking a last ride to fulfill an old dream is moving and elegant. Never falling into the usual short film "see what I can do" traps, it rewards the viewer by telling its story simply and beautifully. Also, unlike most feature Westerns of the last few decades, this is clearly a movie by, for, and about people who truly live and breathe this world. By the end of the film, you'll feel you know the people, the horse, the land, and how they all smell and feel. It's a movie with weather, with aches, with breath. And - I'm not giving anything away to say - an awesome race scene!
The first Mummy movie was real good. This one is even better. More action, more big crowd scenes of battles, more creepy effects. The girl is even hotter this time than she was the first time. And there are more jokes. But the coolest thing is this time they got The Rock as The Scorpion King, and he really does have scorpion legs and pinchers and everything. He's scary as hell. Sometimes it gets kind of confusing, like is the Rock a good guy or not. But mostly it's great. I give it a 9.
