The idea of terror in the store is interesting and a fun premise. However the story gets dragged down in being long winded and unorganized at times. The idea that two people can be this self cantered doesn't surprise me in this day and age, but the fact we are supposed to feel sympathy for the characters once we get the big reveal is asinine. I didn't like the characters to start with and this reveal made me cheer for their brutal death even more. However my sympathy does go out to poor Boris he deserved better.
A simple action buddy comedy, It is just some dumb turn your brain off fun We have all seen a similar story told a dozen times before. Spencer is the idealistic former cop out to do the right thing with his mentor, new roommate and his loyal girl in tow. The cast is likeable, the action and comedy are fun. It's a simple pleasur, an enjoyable way to waste a Sunday afternoon.
If this was all he was going to do with the Firefly Family Zombie should have left them dead. This was inferior from the beginning you could feel how off the story was and how forced everything was.
Not enough of what made the first 2 films great. The pacing was slow and off putting. The lack of the late great Sid Haig further hurt the film, because without the wit and charisma of Captain Spaulding Otis and Baby can actually become a bit tedious. I really wanted to love this film as much as I do the first 2, but it brings nothing new and the things it brings back it doesn't do well either.
While not as bad as Rob Zombies Halloween 2 this is definitely not one of his better films and it just leaves fans with a bad taste in their mouths and wanting more.
