Loudermilk has some amazing writers.
This is a show filled with flawed characters. People who maybe haven't made the best decisions in their life or have been given the right cards. Who are now doing their best to do & be better for themselves and the people around them. Which doesn't always go as planned.
However the series is a comedy too.....and it works. This is a show about alcoholism, the multiple ways one can hurt your friends and family, and the struggle to improve your life when you don't see any bright spots anymore. And at times it's hilarious.
Loudermilk works astoundingly great in any conceivable way. That's some damn fine writing. That all the actors make me believe their parts doesnt hurt either by the way.
Really bummed we only got 3 seasons of this, but what a damn fine 3 seasons they were.

You know those series which are amazing basically because the characters/actors make the show?
Like Shawn and Gus on "Psych", or the Winchester brothers (and many of the side characters introduced) in "Supernatural". Where the characters are so good, that it doesn't really matter all that much who the villain of the week is.
Warehouse 13 is basically such a show. Ok to decent effects for television, decent to good stories, ok villains, effin' amazing main characters.
When Pete and Myka goof around, it's like they aren't even acting. The chemistry of the two main characters is fantastic, they work really great off each other. Add in cranky Artie, and later on Claudia and Steve...
..and yeah, Warehouse 13 has an amazing 'Scooby gang'. Add in the guest appearances by characters like ms. Frederic and HG Wells, and this is basically one of my top 5 ensembles of characters in television shows.
Don't expect grand multiple layers of plot lines intertwining and connecting with each other to create one giant crescendo of masterfull storytelling and the multi-million fx to go along with it, do however expect to fall in love with this show and wipe away a little tear in the final episode once you realise it's over.
"Maybe my defining moment is all of it" It damn well was.

This show must have left a deeper imprint in my younger self than I thought, as I remembered a lot of the characters which appeared in the final arc of this show.
So I did a rewatch of this using the Japanese version. I couldn't find a version with my native language which aired on tv so many decades ago, but I guess this way I get to see how it was originally made.
It holds up pretty well, better than a lot of other 80s cartoons. It's still very much an animation aimed at kids though, but one you wouldn't mind watching along as an adult.
The first arc is pretty much the story we all know when talking about the Wizard of Oz, it's the middle and last arcs which expand on the story which was completely new to me. Basically blew my mind as a kid, "say what, the story didn't end where it ends in the movie?!"
It's a fun cartoon for kids, and as far as kids' cartoons go, this is one of the better ones.
