Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
horrible pacing and poor execution
This movie was terrible to say the least. I think the thing that bothered me the most was the pacing. For how bad it was, there was apparently a lot of plot and information that had to be rushed through to make it in a shorter time length. Maybe if they had just paced it in a way that doesnt feel like if you blink you no longer understand the entire reason for anything, it would help cover up the other flaws better and make it a movie that is endurable. Another thing that bothered me that seems to be a consequence of the rushed pace was how nobody would explain anything. Even as someone who did watch Loki, I am very confused as to what Kang's goal was and why it was evil. When scott was given the choice to cooperate with Kang or risk his daughters life he hesitated despite not knowing almost anything at all about this guys intentions. If I were in Scott's situation, I may even wonder if he was a good guy, because basically all he said is that he needed to stop something bad from happening. Also, the grandma or whatever her name is was asked so many times what her story is and what was even happening and she was like "No time to say" WHEN HER JUST TELLING THEM WOULD SAVE SO MUCH MORE TIME?? I love movies that are confusing and you have no idea what's going on, but knowing that the only reason you dont know is because a character who could very easily just say their story refuses to say it ruins my love for the mystery of it and just makes me so pissed at the character.
In conclusion, this movie is not worth watching. If you are planning to still watch future marvel content just read a summary. Personally, the recent movies being so terrible is making this long time fan consider never watching a marvel movie again.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
I dont understand why everybody else likes it so much
I honestly dont get why i seem to be the only one who didnt think this movie was good especially being in a trilogy with 2 other great movies. It makes me wonder if others just like it because they have been so deprived of good marvel movies for these past 2 years or so. Yes, people are right when they say its one of the best marvel movies since endgame, but other than spiderman no way home, all other competition is bad cinema that isnt hard to beat.
First of all, I didn't like that the medpacks were just now introduced. I dont remember ever seeing them before and I think they put them in just to have plot armor for every main character except rocket, just to what, enhance the already high stakes? We dont need to be spoon-fed the fact that rocket is in danger, we couldve completely understood that without it. Its pretty obvious that it is just a useless plot tool so the the writers can be lazy and have characters get into fights with no consequence on their health to be able to do another one right after. If youre going to write a story where you dont have time to include any injuries or deaths, then just dont let them get hurt in the first place??
Secondly, since the main villain had these incredible powers capable of stopping all his guards who were pointing guns at him ready to shoot. If he was so powerful, how was he not able to stop the guardians when he confronted them? It seemed like he wasnt using the full potential of his power because the movie was already too long and the lazy predictable plot just HAD to have all the heroes beat him right? This is not the only time the plot has problems with lazily crunching important moments into a smaller timeframe; it can also be observed in the last few scenes where Quill is about to die then is saved in seconds and is COMPLETELY UNHARMED 1 MINUTE LATER! This could have been a sad death scene to naturally end an era, but no, they just had to add this for no reason just for him to end up leaving for earth anyways with his happy ending hero story because thats what always happens!!
Finally, the villain is so one-sided, predictable, flat, and provokes no thought or moral conflict in the viewers minds at all whatsoever. It does not challenge your point of view on anything at all. Heroes good villain bad, hurt animal bad, hero always win. Marvel should know we are not little kids judging by the fact that they put in the F bomb and very disturbing scenes of animal cruelty. So, if marvel knows we can be adult enough for that, why are we not adult enough for a story that actually breaks the mold and makes the audience think?
In conclusion, yes this movie was good for PHASE 4 (the worst phase ever!!) That does not mean it deserves to be called the best MCU movie by a lot of people. I really think people are overhyping it because they have been so deprived of above horrible content for so long that they think this is somehow a "masterpiece" in any way. They introduce new concepts as a lazy fix for their plot holes, make the villain not show his full power just for the point that the hero must always win even if it shouldnt be that easy, and show problems in the world (animal cruelty) without provoking any thought or change in perspective about it into the minds of the viewers at all. People need to take a step back from the hype and realize that hidden behind the tear-jerker backstory of Rocket is a movie that is objectively JUST AVERAGE...
thank you for your time.
The Pixar Story (2007)
Very interesting documentary
It is basically about how pixar came to be through its hardships and successes. It is a very interesting and informative documentary. It taught me a lot about the history of computer animated movies that i had not known before seeing it. Im not usually a big fan of documentaries but something about this just kept me watching the whole way through. I definitely would recommend this.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018)
very confusing and stupid
The story was very hard to follow and confusing. The twist villain was so uncalled for and frustrating as a viewer and just the whole thing was so boring. When I first saw this I was expecting it to just be your average play to movie adaptation. I was expecting the play only slightly tweaked to fit in a cinema format, instead they gave me a dumpster fire. It was nothing like the ballet in the slightest. The only surviving feature was the characters and thats quite literally all that stayed. Even a little kid deserves better entertainment, don't waste your time!
The Oscars (2022)
Since when was the oscars a comedy??
Why the heck was every line stated supposed to be a joke, other than some of the good speeches after winning an award, it felt like one long "woke" joke??
It seemed out of touch from the idea of people respectfully admiring the art of cinema, it became more of an attempt as being the entertainment itself which failed miserably
I think the only good part was when coda got best picture and a few of the awards, other than that I was a bit bored.
It seemed uncalled for when the hosts made jokes, especially when the one made a joke about the covid tests thing, all of the men on the stage looked awkward and uncomfortable. You know darn well that if it was a male host making that joke to women on stage instead everybody would be talking about it and upset, but because they were men everybody is just silent? Just sayin'
Im not even gonna talk about the will smith fiasco
If you wanna watch it to see the winners go right ahead but if you are expecting some grand award show im sorry but this really is not it, you should probably just look up the winners online to be honest lol.
Âya to majo (2020)
i refuse to believe its actually ghibli
From the very beginning the art style already had me taken-aback. Very different from your typical ghibli especially the fact that it was computer animated but I was willing to see past that for a good story...assuming it is a good story right?
Mere seconds after this thought we learn how annoying and inherently unlikeable the main character erica, or rather earwig, is. Shes so mean and fake. I already knew this was going to be more shallow than other ghibli movies like the wind rises or princess kaguya, heck even kiki thats not super out there or very deep but it still has that ghibli feel and feels like its a movie for kids and fans not just kids who will eat up anything served on a silver platter. Very mid
-if u dont want spoils stop reading ig-
it isnt necessarily a good experience just watching erica work her ass off all day and not get any good treatment from her parents. Its also unrealistic of how unphased she is by this. I mean yes shes annoyed to a point but this girl is being straight used as a slave. She cannot leave and she cannot take breaks at all. I would be ok having to watch this if one of the morals was that it was bad but that could be further from the moral. I feel like every movie has a moral intentional or not. This movie feels incomplete in so many more ways than this but this is only the tip of the iceberg. I mean what is the lesson anyways "be annoying as hell and people will eventually become your freaking minions" like what?
Ive said nothing but bad things but the part where she makes the spell with the cat is interesting and i like the music yk its nice i guess
ok now heres the thing. Another reason why its incomplete. How can we just dump the worms on her and have the demon man get so mad he like attacks the other lady and we just never resolve this. We never resolve how shes terrified of her own bandmate, her own roommate, "friend"? But whatever shes annoying too so idc about her
frankly idc about any of the characters. Theyre all so unlikeable and flat. You cant feel any connection, empathy or even just tolerance towards them.
When i first saw the part where they just timeskip to her being their little queen or something i lost it. Its like they take any hint any little start at character development, an actual theme, a better understanding of literally any character and throw it away. It feels like they made the story, realized its bad and just put this to cut it short fast. Like they ran out of time or something? Its so weird and confusing.
Ohoho and you think the horrors are over. Theres only 5 minutes left, nothing more bad can happen, her friend will just come and have a nice reunion and thats the end right? Haha, haha....ha-
WHAT THE HECK WAS THE LAST MINUTE OF THE FILM?
It is suuuuccchhhh a bad move to just have something so big happen and cut off. Even if they had just given 2 more seconds for her to hug earwig or something or like have a little montage of her in the party it would have atleast felt like the chaotic fast ending was real life. It doesnt feel like real life. I refuse to believe it. It makes me feel upset when i watch it and not in a good sad movie way in a "i dont know anything about film writing but even i could do better" way. I dont wanna seem petty here but the ending of the movie ruined everything. I mean its like they want a sequel but you know there isnt enough for a sequel because there was barely enough used material for a good one movie. I always like movies to not say everything, i like movies to not have to be perfect to more be the experience than the little nitty gritty but this has no experience, it doesnt, so im forced to see it for what it is and past whatever emotions it gives me, it what it really is is hot garbage.
I mean is this dreamworks?? Is this a godawful sequel nobody watched? I mean i expect this quality from a cars 5 not a ghibli movie come on. Atleast you know cars will have an actual storyline and conclusion tho.
If u read this whole thing ur cool and as much as i wanna say u shouldnt watch this, u should. Lets share our pain together my friend. I will watch all the ghibli movies at any cost and i encourage you to endure this for the sake of the cause. Thank you.
Steven Universe: The Movie (2019)
no
Im sorry but i hate the plot. Unnecessary extension to the series. I dont even want to waste my time talking about this other than the fusion between greg and steven is a disgusting awful violation of nature.
Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018)
horrendous
I used to like this movie when it first came out so I went back and watched it again and...what the actual hell. It is so blatantly advertising within the movie and forgetting everything that made the original actually decent. Ralph is a huge man baby getting upset over his "best friend" who should be like a daughter to him for having dreams and hobbies in life unlike him with his likable qualities from the first movie completely stripped from his character. It feels weird and sad the whole time. It tries to be funny and modern but it is not. A movie should have qualities that make it good other than the fact that it is "modern" and a sequel. It is actual garbage. The only slightly good part is where we see how felix and the shooter game lady are as a couple but this only lasts for a shockingly short ammount of time before it is painstakingly only about being in the internet and ralph being disgustingly childish. At this point any disney movie will just get away with it. Heck, it seems like really anybody can get an oscar as long as there is a successful corporation behind them right? If anybody has not watched yet, which i am disappointed to say its not likely, dont. Thanks for reading.
Miira no Kaikata (2018)
Super cute but kinda basic
The art style is very nice and the pets are so adorableeeeeee! It doesnt get that interesting until the last few episodes but its still worth a watch.
It is about a boy who's father is in egypt and he knows that there are magical creatures most humans dont know about. One day his father sends him a tiny little mummy who he quickly learns to love. Along the way he discovers friends who also get a mystical friend of their own and go on day to day adventures.
Tokyo Mew Mew (2002)
Very sweet childhood favorite
It is very heartwarming and suspenseful. It has a slice-of-life vibe to it while still sticking to the main plot build up. I wouldn't necessarily watch it now but when i was younger it was totally my kind of show. Each of the characters stand out in their own way and have their own struggles (Mint with her brother, pudding with her mother, lettuce with toxic friends etc.) I cant say anything for the dub (mew mew power) but i assume its basically the same. It is free to watch on youtube.
WandaVision (2021)
Easily my favorite sci-fi ever!
Vision is my favorite character of the MCU and its amazing to see him come back. The mind boggling twists and turns, the detective clues hidden throughout and agatha's banger song earn it an easy 5 stars!
Tenkû no shiro Rapyuta (1986)
Great for family movie night
Every friday my family has movie night and I had heard good things about this movie. It was even better than I expected and I am a long time fan of ghibli movies. It is immersive and captivating, the music also elevates it to a whole new level. It is kid friendly, only mild violence.
It is mainly about a girl who was taken captive because she has a magical stone which can make her float. A young boy finds her and helps her to stay away from pirates, spies and even the military. They find out that the stone actually belongs to a magical island in the sky and has the capability to leading them there. One problem, no human has ever made it in and people are going to do everything they can to get there first.
