The main thing Caught Stealing catches is a big bag of adequate. Not terrible. Certainly not great. But totally fine. Or to put it another way, if you can see only one film this year, don't make it this unless you enjoy pictures rising to just the okay level. But when it's streaming, do see it. Should go well with folding laundry or cleaning your living room.
This all sounds like faint praise, which is my goal. However, I didn't hate the movie by any means. I have had my time wasted on way worse stuff. To be clear, this isn't mid filmmaking. Nobody sleep walks through the picture but the end product simply doesn't add up to a whole lot.

This is going to seem odd on my part as I did not find this comedy all that funny. Not to say it doesn't have funny moments. There are plenty, I just didn't laugh at much as the people I sat in the movie theater with. Why is that odd? Because I still very much enjoyed the film. It's highly entertaining and every one in it gives it there all but a laugh riot this wasn't. At least to me.
Having said that, on the scale of straight people and our confused, unhappy sex lives movies this is way, way better than Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice or Threesome but not as funny as Poor Things or Chasing Amy, if that helps at all. And if it doesn't, well, just see it, it's good. You could do worse. You probably already have.

This is the flick where a woman's night out turns into a nightmare when a stranger ensnares her into a plan to kill her date. You know, the way professionals do it! Of course, the whole thing is ridiculous but it's still entertaining. Some moments are even sweet. Who'd have guessed?
That said, the amount of work that would have to be put in to pull this scheme off is worthy of a Batman villain. And not the modern version of Batman, either. But the one from the 1960s with Adam West.
In other words, if you're looking for logic, this is not your movie. If you enjoy a tight little thriller that isn't too demanding of your reason skills you should enjoy this.
