Jurassic Park (1993)
Just awesome for the time
The script felt like it could really happen, the acting was spot on and it was edge of your seat dino action most of the time, with an amazing sound track.
Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)
For TV movie
This movie played like a old sci-fi channel movie. The acting was terrible, probably because the story was even worse, very disappointed. It got 4 stars because of the dinosaurs, most of the time they looked really cool, some times you see a CGI waver.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954)
1954!
One has to concider the year this was made, even today watching this film one got the feeling of being in a submarine deep under the ocean. Also one got to feel the struggles of all the points of view. The movie made you think, made you laugh and made you hold your breath. It inspires me to read the book and try and get a better understanding of the characters, as I imagine the movie is a broad idea of what Jules Verne has written. This is a movie that I would love to see a modern remake of.
The MacKintosh Man (1973)
Definitely not Bond
The music was terrible, the movie was painfully slow to action, and the ending was underwhelming. It had a decent car chase scene but that is all the positives I can give it.
The Conjuring 2 (2016)
Inspiration for the show Evil
They did a good job making it look like 1977, had some cool vintage tek to go along with a great story, had jump scares, and edge of your seat suspense, the acting was spot on, and even a little humor. If there was a con it was the length maybe could of shortened a little bit.
Major Payne (1995)
Didn't age well.
The whole point of the movie was old school vs new school methods of teaching children, with the end result being a point in the middle. Another point to the movie was loyalty. The message was the best part, the humor just wasn't their for me. It was like Full Metal Jacket turned into a comedy, you just can't make that funny.
Midnight Mass (2021)
Predictable vampire short series with wholes
The show was predictable, depressing and left as a cliff hanger of course. The show felt like it was making fun of the Catholic faith, while hiding behind a vampire story. The acting was good but the story was not scary and played like a life time movie.
Way Down (2021)
Your basic heist/treasure movie
Take National Treasure mix it with the oceans series and a sprinkle of baby driver and you have this movie. I loved the vault, it in it self was treasure, loved the treasure story, and the character chemistry was good, however they should of finished it instead of doing a cliff hanger. The movie isn't good enough to get a sequel but if it does happen I will watch it. Still can't figure out why it is R rated though.
The Dig (2021)
Treasure
The movie was visually beautiful, and the character relationships where convincing, there was good chemistry. One really got the feel of the time. I was thinking I was watching a treasure hunt movie but was tricked into a drama/romance flick, but it was very well done, if a bit dreary. It is a movie that you could find something new you missed each time you watch it.
The Addams Family 2 (2021)
Light on the Cooky
The movie overall was enjoyable, and it visually looked great, had a fun monster battle. The Thing that bothered me was it felt like it wasn't quite hitting the Adams Family vibe, maybe it was lightened up for the kids. Plot was a little thin even for a kids version.
Tata muta muntii (2021)
Waste of time
After watching this movie I sat and Wondered what the point was and thought maybe it was the change of the father as he discovered what his actions where doing, which in my opinion made for a pointless movie. There is no ending. Acting was okay just terrible story.
Bob the Butler (2005)
Forgot to be funny
The best part of the movie to me was the no give up attitude of Bob. However the movie ripped off National Lampoons vacation with the dinner scenes. The character relationship building was weak, did have a feel good ending, worth a watch but not one you would want to revisit and Green just isn't funny in this movie.
Dark Angel (1990)
Alien drug runners
Some decent special effects, took a while to get going, some fun one liners. The bad guy reminds me of Raiden mixed with Scorpion and sub zero from the first mortal Kombat movie. A couple decent fight scenes. The plot tried to put a twist on the whole renegade cop vs drug dealers story and it was okay but not well executed and the acting was subpar.
Run Silent, Run Deep (1958)
A sleeper war movie
This movie was awesome for a vintage movie. It had good acting, writing and held one in suspense. Was pleasantly surprised with this movie. I gave it a chance because of my interest in submarines and WWII and it didn't disappoint.
Space Jam (1996)
Space jam
Best part of the movie is the sound track. The movie felt choppy with trying to get many different characters screen time. The Basketball players acting skills are okay concidering their experience. This movie is best for young basketball fans who love Saturday morning cartoons. The animation mesh with real world, was okay but not quite in sink.
Rookie of the Year (1993)
Makes a kids imagination wild
This movie was aimed at pre teens, and as a pre teen, I loved this movie and watched it many times. I day dreamed about being that kid for my favorite team. Just a goofy family baseball movie that will have kids playing baseball in the backyard for weeks. Love that they had a original Gameboy in the movie, but hated the crazy comments when Henry had to bat.
Black Eagle (1988)
What year was this made?
The story was relatively clear, they tried to do to much with it though. The fight scenes was entertaining but brief. I feel the movie was on a low budget in that case I feel they did well with what they had. The kids steal the show, with the older boy defending himself being the best part, not rewatching but not upset I saw it either.
Kindergarten Cop (1990)
Terminator teacher
I enjoyed this a lot more when I was younger but today when I watched it a few things bothered me, when Kimble dropped the kid, and some of his treatment towards the students didn't sit well with me, also the attack on the father was kind of odd but with that being said it fits the story line. The end battle was lame with the really fake looking blood, and one could argue that the Ferret caused Kimmel to be shot. It is worth a watch and a fun twist on a cop movie.
Battleship (2012)
A fun Navy CGI Alien scifi flick
It was far fetched story but it is very entertaining. I love the underdog vibe and drifting a antique battleship to blowup aliens never gets old. The movie has a never give up, support our Navy vibe. You just have to take a few things with a grain of salt, such as the ammo for the wwII battleship, and why there our so many bouys in the water.
Fatal Beauty (1987)
Whoopi Elliott
The writing was bad, but Whoopi had some good one liners that will bring a smile to your face. The banter in the movie did not age well and will affend people today. They had a shot at making something great with Whoopi and Sam but fumbled it bad with trying to do to much with a basic story line.
Cruella (2021)
Not the kid's Cruella
My biggest dislike is the pace of the movie, I had trouble maintaining focus on it at times, it was also a movie geared more towards the female audience. However everyone can appreciate the creativity that went into the movie with the wardrobes, the tie ins to the classic story, the battle of the evils and the twist, though predictable it fit well.
Up (2009)
The Age
Movie has great feeling, dragging one's emotions around, laugh, sad, empathy, feel good moments, but one think I can't figure out is the old guys age. The bad old guy should be dust compared to good old guy, think about the hero worship part in the beginning, anyway great movie.
Top Dog (1995)
If Chuck Norris was a dog
The movie has enough Chuck Moments and fun Dog moments that makes it worth the watch. However the story wasn't smooth and it felt forced. I feel like it was altered to take it from a R movie to PG-13, a lot of loose ends.
Fortune Dane (1986)
Fortune not spent on Fortune Dane
Carl Weathers has great acting talent where the rest of the cast was lacking. Character building was good but the story line felt stretched thin as in they could cut out a lot of dull areas. The movie is a Crime thriller, light on the thrill. However I noticed that there is a Tv show related to this movie and wonder if this movie premiered on TV in that case my rating is a little light.
Access Code (1984)
So secret even the viewers don't get to know
It was hard to tell whose side everyone was on, I know it was trying to give the viewer awareness of 1984 surveillance technology and how it was intrusive to the country and that it is possible for some one to hack and run our country but how they stopped it I couldn't figure out, maybe it was meant to be a cliff hanger. Best part of the movie is the cover art which has nothing to do with the movie.
