Star Trek: Lower Decks: A Mathematically Perfect Redemption (2022)
Everything I dislike about Lower Decks, kind of
It starts off with 20 minutes that I actually thought were very good, and then they dropped the ball hard, because this is a show where nothing sincere ever happens--okay, that's not quite fair. I can see why others would disagree, and I am happy for them that they do, but personally I just found that the character was one I would have preferred actually developed, instead of it just being the writers doing an "Aha, we got you!" joke. Yeah.
Anyway, I have lots of characters left to fill. So, yeah, anyway, pretty much, yeah, definitely, probably, most likely, have to disagree, yeah, no way, bye.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (2017)
Very good, minor problems
A very short game, and yet I feel like it was maybe a tiny bit too long. Additionally, I struggled to care about the puzzles, and I found some of them relatively annoying. I liked the combat.
The plot and character of Senua are the standout parts of the game. The game is kind of a movie that you sometimes play, to be honest. The beginning was good, the ending was good. I just found the middle to be a little dull.
I don't really have anything else to say, but I have quite a few mandatory characters left, so I'll write something. The lorestones were interesting to me at first, but I ended up ditching them.
Anyway, bye.
Toy Story 3 (2010)
What a great trilogy!
What a great trilogy indeed. I'm so happy that this trilogy is so good that they never made another movie in this wonderful and beautifully concluded series. I'm glad we never got some random fork character that was kind of annoying and just isn't that interesting. I'm so glad that they haven't started making a fifth Toy Story film. I'm just so glad about all of these things. Truly an amazing trilogy that includes three movies, rather than four or five or six or seven or eight or nine or ten or nine-thousand fine-hundred and seventy-two films, not including pretty mid prequel/in-world film/who the hell knows.
The Last of Us: Endure and Survive (2023)
If you turn into a monster is it still you on the inside?
I'll try and stop my complaining that this episode came out on a Friday, and I almost didn't catch on it release. And, aside from that, there is a lot of good this episode does. It remains faithful (perhaps the most faithful yet, and certainly more faithful than ep. 3, so for those of you who hated that episode for not telling the exact story told in the game, first, grow up, and second, you should be happy with this one), and is also just really good and emotional. Perhaps the antagonist characters got too much screen time, but whatever. Overall, great performances, great writing, great story. Great show.
The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
Couple of changes, nothing bad.
Couple of plot changes, nothing major. Everything worked for the medium, and would not have worked particularly well in a video game. Uh...perhaps a little bit of an odd diversion, but a pleasant one, though it does lead to me worry a little, since while The Last of Us is not the longest game out there, when you spend 1 whole episode on a (admittedly pleasant) love story without really progressing the plot at all...it concerns me, I suppose, though I trust the creative team. They have made some amazing episodes so far, Episode 2 or 3 (this one) being my favorite, and I think they can take it all the way to Ep. 9. I just can't really give tens so easily.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Halloween III (2015)
The worst heist
The winner of this heist is...like the worst winner ever, which goes along with the heist. This is the worst heist, and it isn't particularly close. Four and eight are tied for second worst, I guess. Just an overall unsatisfying heist, with a bad twist and a plot that isn't all that amazing (not that I'm expecting a good plot), and okay jokes. Now, IMDB forces me to use 600 characters for no reason, prepare for some inane rambling.
Wikipedia, as a website, is a website, as is YouTube, and IMDB, as is Letterboxd, and RYM, and RYM, both of which have opinions I don't agree with, but they're alright, I suppose. They are just polling people.
Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou (2019)
The 3D Animation Sucks.
That's really all I want to say, but I have to say more, so...
The show has a pretty good, albeit quite standard anime/manga plot. It has nice 2D animation. And, I will say this once again, the 3D animation is so terrible you wouldn't believe it unless you saw it.
Plandemic (2020)
They used a chiropractor
They used a clip from a chiropractor for this--and in this same clip, he talked about Tonic Water and...why? It just doesn't really make sense, and for a great video about this, Dr. Mike, and probably others.
Illogical.
Mental Mistakes (2019)
The buildup was good, but...
This...this wasn't good, and it wasn't helped by the great 5 episodes of Making It that came before it. They just made me...sad, and that sucks. It wasn't funny, it wasn't good, it was just stock footage and some story.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
It's a comedy that isn't that funny.
I like--no, I love Taika Waititi's work. But...this was bad. Okay, not bad, but not great. Not even necessarily good. The comedy is MASSIVE downgrade from Ragnorak, which was great, and it had some good moments, but overall...eh.
Geronimo Stilton (2009)
I had some fun times.
I had some really fun times watching this show when I was really young, so it's hard for me to be objective, as you can likely tell from the eight I gave this show, though I may downgrade to a seven.
I'd say that this show is a MUST-WATCH for bored children, ages 4-8. For anyone else though, the books should do.
The Matrix (1999)
ehhh.........
This title pretty much seems up all of my thoughts on the film, which is quite overrated, but it was a revolutionary film, and the effects mostly hold up, but the ending just isn't my style. It was honestly kind of bad, and ruined an already meh film.
Lightyear (2022)
Enjoyed, but did not view it in context with Toy Story.
I overall thought the movie was fine, I thought the animation was good, the character was...passable, the plot was fine, the humor was okay, mostly from the cat. Overall, it was fine.
The Amazing Bulk (2012)
The best worst movie.
The best worst movie.
It is so bad that is amazing, and worth a watch, because it is terrible. The effects....wow, the effects. It's amazing. It's terrible.
Dopesick (2021)
Brilliant
I would say the show is carried by the acting, but the show isn't carried by anything, because the entire show is quality. Not a weak moment, I'd say.
There are confusing parts, such as the constant time jumping that can be disorienting, but I wouldn't see the problem is bad enough, especially considering I don't believe that it could have worked in a different method.
Dever and Keaton are just brilliant, as are literally everybody else, and the characters are mostly fictional, but still great.
Update: The White Lotus winning the award is like when Shakespeare in Love won Best Picture.
Hamilton (2020)
History done right.
Pretty much everything in this movie is done well, though the historical accuracy can be fluctuating, as there are inaccuracies, some small and some big. The music and acting are both pretty good, and it's a crime this didn't win all that many awards because it's a musical.
Batman: Hush (2019)
Unfaithful.
This is an unfaithful take on the HUSH storyline, and it keeps unimportant parts, and it'll leave out some important parts. It will change the story for no reason, and leave out the entire Jason Todd part. It's just wrong.
Invincible: It's About Time (2021)
What the...
Oh, this was the really just the most lighthearted thing ever pretty much, with the worst thing being some swearing and some slight sexual stuff I guess...until it ended. I'm not going to go too in-depth, but heads explode.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Golden Child (2019)
Amy sucks.
This does not do Amy's character any justice. It's funny, but Amy is just not a good person. It was irritating as they butchered Amy's character, and everyone played along.
Venom (2018)
Fun.
This movie is just really fun....
I have a bit more to say: Tom Hardy has some fun acting, and the rest are also quite decent.
The rest is pretty bad, but it's funny.
Moon Knight: Summon the Suit (2022)
Great
I really enjoy the mix of showing us what Marc/Steven sees, and what everybody else sees. I think the actors are all on point. I think Khonshu looks great, and kind of scarey. I think the plots good.
Some might want more of Marc, but I myself think that it just makes him being there more exciting.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Good Ones (2021)
PAIN.
Pain...so far of a departure on everything 99 could, and should be. Rosa's character in this is pretty different considering what she is supposed to be, Jake is off, everyone else is barely there. The show can be political, but they went a bit too far this time. Way too far, it was kind of just annoying at that point.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013)
Amazing.
This show is amazing at so many things, but the character is by far the best part of this show, and all the character--most times--feel consistent, and relatively realistic (though it's a comedy, so it's not to be expected it will be realistic).
My biggest problem with the show is Amy Santiago, who is often inconsistent and is occasionally a bad person, as is every character except for Terrance Jeffords, for the most part.
The strangest part is the mystery part, which is actually pretty good, which is unexpected.
My favorite season is season 5, which has "The Box", with Sterling K. Brown, who nailed it. The Box isn't really a mystery, since we know a decent amount of info, but it still works SO WELL.
I also love "The Crime Scene", which is a good mystery.
Jake and Holt are a great dynamic.
Jake's character arc is great, Amys not so much, the other characters don't undergo as much character development.
Forrest Gump (1994)
Nearly perfection
It's hilarious, and it is tragic.
Tom Hanks is...amazing as Forrest Gump, striking the balance between "stupid" and "normal", as many choose to describe people.
There's parts where you can feel how sad it is, but it's not crammed in there, or overpowering. It strikes the right balance with the comedy.
Somehow, this movie has found a way to be underrated, as it has 70% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Casecation (2019)
Why?
Amy is, typically, a good character. This episode is atypical, and makes me think Jake and Amy don't work together as a couple.
Their argument was on a subject that didn't really need airtime, in my opinion, and the subject was handled terribly.
If I didn't find the comedy decent, this would be a much worse rating.
