It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Gets Cursed (2023)
I'll make your dreams come true.
So I gave the Rat episode a 2 and I still feel bad but it's ok "Boggs didn't hit it out of the park everytime". I started thinking, which was my favorite episode so far this season? It has to be The Cursed.
The most popular review says they were laughing the whole time and that is exactly how I felt. I listen to Sunny in the background all the time so when I actually watch it, I really notice the acting. This was well done, funny and consistently hit so many Always marks. Na, it wasn't perfect but they figured out what I wanted most and gave it to me.
Right now, this is the lowest rated episode of the season and I think it is probably the best so far. There's your rant.
" I can be whatever you want be to be".

Least Favorite
"aren't many laughs" "haven't felt what I used to" "actors don't play the same characters" " feels tired" "so depressed" "bad timing"
So like, yeah, this is my favorite show and this is probably my least favorite episode next to Mac Finds His Pride. I just don't agree with the political leanings and it just makes it so much harder to watch.
Looking at the reviews, the average person won't mind. I just keep thinking about how I am going to be able to add this to my playlist. I'm not going to go into nick pick details but every time I try to watch it, I can't. I started skipping through the first time I watched it and I had to remind myself that this is my favorite show and that is not allowed.
Really, I don't understand the high ratings for this one. Even if you did agree with ever political point, it didn't feel that classic Sunny to me. I could look past the things I don't agree with but it just wasn't funny, abnormally poorly acted but worse is just how forced it feels. We did this already in Big Mo! It was the fake out end. Why are we doing this again and worse? That's so basic.
As negative as this review seems, I'm so happy to still have the show and the ability to look forward to new episodes. It honestly seems like they are trying enough and I'm pretty content with this season. This episode just didn't resonate with me at all. It's pretty unwatchable tier for me right now. I'm really hoping it grows on me like Ladies Reboot and not like Finds His Pride or Cricks Tales. Oh and to all the die hard Sunny fans out there.....Put your hands up.
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016)
Simply Classic
After watching Dave Chappelle's the Closer about a week ago, I decided to randomly watched this again. I try to make my reviews for people like me. Maybe, your the rare person who likes and dislikes the same things as me and that's always nice. Hopefully, I'll help you find a few gems as I review more things. So anyways, I hated The Closer and I just can't watch this movie without laughing so hard I have to catch myself so my neighbors won't complain. It's just my type of humor. I still listen to the songs: " Incredible Thoughts" "I'm so Humble". I just don't know what else to say but that this is one of my favorite movies and one of my most underrated movies. I'm not going to say people " just don't get it" or this or that. I know this is not a movie for everyone but for me, this is a pure classic. Remember, "Be good to each other, peace".
Dave Chappelle: The Closer (2021)
"beyond comedy" "I just miss old dave when he just told jokes"
"If you didn't like that special then you don't understand the art of comedy" "Most people missed the point of the special" "opposite of being woke if you don't understand or think Dave isn't funny" "You folks just don't get him STILL?" "He preaches gospel" "beyond comedy" "Funny & insightful" "Eulogy for his friend" "Hilarious!!!" "Master storyteller" "Heartfelt" "killed it as usual!" "Dave is the GOAT and the set was a brilliant multi layered masterpiece" "Facts".
After watching Double Toasted's review I had to watch The Closer. All of these quotes come from there and I have never seen so much gaslighting before in my life. "Dave is just too loved. Celebrity worship is real." For starters, I used to be a huge fan of Dave. I still love Half Baked, his show, and just watched Killing Them Softly again. I laughed over and over again. I have not enjoyed him after he came back from Africa and even fans admit this is one if not his worst. I really did not want to give this a 1 but I didn't laugh once. Not once. One smile, 1/2 smile and two thoughts of "oh that was funny" but not one laugh. I also did not find anything enlightening or worth my time. The only reason I watched this was so that I could understand the commotion and honestly review this. I know this is going to be buried by downvote and most won't even read this but if your interested I'll leave you with some negative quotes. Take care.
"Dave Chappelle has long since stopped focusing on being funny and been more of a life lessons type of preacher" "I felt like this special wasn't for me" "Beating a dead horse" "30 mins in he's not gonna get off the LGBTQ" "feels like he's running out of material" "attracts a lot of trash people" "smirked once or twice during his special" "intentional filler" "weak from a comedy standpoint" "weakest he's ever done" "The last half elicited more applause than laughter. Applause is just approval, you have to really work to get laughs."
"The retrospection of this stage of comedy will be known as the cringe age. Where there's no actual jokes but you have to laugh anyway because if you don't you will be identified as being apart of cancel culture. Cringe, venting, unfunny rants. Netflix killed the comedian."
"George proceeded to go on one of the biggest late night shows, call it out, and then killed it for 10 minutes without using a single swear. That's why I'm not sure I can rock with Dave anymore."

Yes, Yes and More Yes
I haven't read any reviews yet but I don't have to for this one. This was a little slow to pick up, cliché, predicable, has some spotty acting, and I didn't like the progression of the games or the last episode. Those are all my nitpicks and even with those, I still feel like I have to give this a ten.
So, why the ten? This just reminded me of Breaking Bad and A Game of Thrones when it should have reminded me of Battle Royale and so on. This is because I simply chewed through this content. The character development is amazing, loved the anti-capitalism overtone, the scenery was great, the dubbing was very well done, the acting for the most part was topnotch and there are some really good memorable, quotable and heartfelt moments. I'll keep it short. If the trailer interested you, you probably won't be disappointed.

Prisoners of the Ghostland (2021)
Never, Never Before In My life
I'm going to start off looking at the 10 star reviews. I just don't understand how anyone could be so positive about this movie. I felt like I was in a Redlettermedia's "Best of the Worst". Never have I laughed so much and so hard at parts of a film that I did not think were intentionally funny. Never have I ever face palmed so many times or had to stop a movie due to pure confusion. Not confusion due to complexity or something like that but due to wondering "why" as in why did the filmmaker chose any of this? This film is astonishingly absurd and not in a good way.
There was one scene that just screamed Mandy and low and behold this film is from the makers of Mandy. I did not like Mandy, Pig, tolerated Willie's Wonderland and skipped Color Out of Space. I'm coming to the conclusion that I just don't like Cage or his acting anymore. I don't really blame him though. The Rock, Con Air and Face Off will always be classics to me but this is pure grade A nonsense. I never put spoilers in my reviews but for this film I just have to mention something that happens in the begin that really doesn't spoil anything but if you are adverse this is your spoiler alert. Cage is given a car to go on his timed quest. He gets out of the car and takes a beat-up bike and everyone thinks he is so cool. At this point I thought the film was going to be intentionally funny and self aware. Nope, he gets about a hundred feet and is stopped by someone who throws him the keys to the same car. He than drives the car...What!? I am still so baffled.
Anyways this is getting too long so if you like films that focus on Asian culture, Cage, decent scenery and camera work you might enjoy this more than me but I think I'm being way too generous giving this a 4. I laughed so much. I just, I just don't understand. Why? Why to everything.
The Guilty (2021)
Disappointed
So I saw the trailer and thought this looked interesting. Jake is the lead in a few of my favorite movies and this looked like it could be a new favorite. It started at about an 8 for me and as the movie kept going I kept wondering "am I going to have to give this film a 10?". I was really into it. So I looked at reviews and saw people saying the original was better and this movie was nonsensical. For starters, I didn't even know this was a remake and so far everything was pretty coherent. I got back to watching and it was at that point it started going downhill. I haven't seen the original yet so I can't compare but I will say that after about half the movie things just stopped make sense for me and it didn't feel real anymore. In the end, all I could think was man this was disappointing. I could probably give this movie a lower score but I really enjoyed the first half and Jake was of coarse solid throughout the film. If you have seen the original and not a big Jake fan I'd say pass. Otherwise , it's a pretty good movie with some unfortunate problems. Cheers.
Pig (2021)
I Didn't Like Any of That
"If you do not have a minimum of EMOTIONAL intelligence you'll hate this" "probably the best movie of the year" "This movie made me so emotional. " "melancholic quality, serene camerawork, relaxed editing, unhurried pace & intimate score." "This film is an absolute masterpiece" "Beautiful, deep and meaningful." "This affected me in ways it had no business doing." "Pig is going to make you cry a lot" "A film for film lovers. For story lovers. For people who love and have possibly found pain in it." "This film utterly floored me." "Masterclass in filmmaking" "must-see for chefs and foodies" "In all honesty, I couldn't really find any glaring flaw in this movie" "One of the most profound essays on humanity in the form of cinema" " they didn't understand what the film was going for"
My turn. (put's on EMOTIONAL intelligence hat) Glaring flaws alert because I understood the film. I was relatively interested in this movie after watching the trailer but after watching Redlettermedia's review I was really excited to see this. Instead, I'm going to summarize all the 1 star reviews. This film is boring, incredibly boring, utterly boring, pretentious, unrewarding, nonsensical, dreary, pointless, dreadful, annoying, artsy, deceptive, odd, tedious, slowest, snobby, pseudo-philosophical, disappointing, pointless, overrated and bewilderment for how anyone could give this movie a high rating. Yeah, I hated this film as well. It reminded me of 'My Dinner with Andre". Just simply unwatchable. I found Alex Wolff's character so over the top and purely insufferable. Definitely a movie for the emotion "Notebook" crowd. I'm sure you and your wife will love this. ( Throws EMOTIONAL intelligence hat in the garbage) Definitely not for people like me. Sorry but if you enjoyed this movie we probably aren't going to be close friends. Song time.

Escape Room: Tournament of Champions (2021)
Mostly Watchable
Once I saw Sony I knew what I was getting into so that's you lol :). I had to skip past a few boring dialoged scenes. The characters felt a little too young for me, like they weren't picked because of talent but picked because of this or that reason. You know Sony stuff. Some elements also felt very PG-13. Then there were a few things that just made absolutely no sense to me. With all that said, for the most part, I found the rooms tense and enjoyable. The majority of the film is spent solving ridiculously hard puzzles and that was fun for me. Maybe on a bad day I would give this a 5 and I totally understand the lower ratings. Meh, for what it's worth, I enjoyed it that much. Sony makes films that look great. They don't play. Was it a great movie? Nope.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Strange Energies (2021)
Just Soo Funny to Me
This episode hasn't received a 10 yet from anyone here so I will boldly go where no man has gone before. I just thought this was perfectly funny at ever turn. A few have called it low brow. I thought the jokes were soo clever, subtle and unexpected. I simply had to rewind most of it just to laugh at the jokes a second or third time which is a hallmark for my 10 ratings. I've actually come to really enjoy this show whether it's funny or Star Trek but this was the funniest one for me. Man they came out swinging. I'll keep it short. Somethings or meant for you and some aren't. This episode was meant for me. Take that Deep Space Nine! :)
The Box (2021)
Very Impressive Low Budget Movie
I'm pretty sure this is definitely not a movie for everyone. It can feel a little boring or repetitive at times and I think most people would call this a slow burn. With that said I really enjoyed this film and I didn't really feel it was slow except for a few parts.
Most of the time it was tense, contemplative and kept me captivated. I didn't rewind any parts which is a hallmark for me that is reserved for the best movies, however I never skipped though anything which is giving this film much praise. For a film this low budget I was expecting to just not be able to watch it however, it constantly exceeded my expectations. The acting is great, music great and the plot was more than serviceable for me. This is also a movie about acting which is something I typically don't like but I felt like it was very well done and that really wasn't the point of the film. I also thought this movie does have a great "pay off".
All and all, I feel like I could give this movie a 7-9. Maybe 7 if I'm feeling like it is too contrived or 9 when I catch myself still thinking about a movie that is so low budget. It's as if they used every penny meaningfully. Lastly, this film kind of reminded me of "Pi" by Darren Aronofsky with a little "Cube" or something sprinkled in. I can't recommend it but I will say it not only exceeded my expectation by miles, I truly enjoyed this film. Still thinking about it.
My Dinner with Andre (1981)
Easily One of My Top 10 Worst Movies
I was looking through peoples' favorite movies and because I love philosophical bottle films, I thought this would definitely be up my alley. It was not. Calling this movie pretentious just doesn't do the film justice. It's preteninity ( pretentiousness to the infinite power). I have tried multiple times just to get though the whole thing and my brain just can't take it.
Most reviews who love this movie will admit it's pretentious. Reviews who did not like this movie have referred to it as "Shut up Andre", " If I didn't stop watching I would l kill myself", " this movie is the root of all evil" and " complete insistent blatter ". One person even said this was one of their favorite movies until they watched it again with someone. They were both so bored they had to stop watching it and he now gives the movie a 2. Maybe this film is for artsy people or maybe it's past it's prime but it's definitely not for my kind. I watched peoples' favorite parts and thought... no thoughts, just confusion as to how one could find this enjoyable.
With that said, I thought it started out well enough and I enjoyed the setting. It felt a little surreal to me and in a good way. Everything was just fine until Andre started telling stories. Then it just felt like torture in the form of pretentiousness but the icing on the cake, the thing that really makes this one of my worst movies is when Wallace says " tell me more". It's as if my soul was hurt. Why god, why? How, how dude? How can you be interested in listening to this man rant on in the most mindless self indulgent way. I don't even care if your a fictional character. You should know better person that doesn't really exist! Anyways, just had to get that off my chest. First review. Be good to each other. Peace.
