Yellowstone (2018)
Disappointing
I had high hopes for Yellowstone, the first season lived up to the hype, thesecond season started going downhil, by time of the third season it had hit rock bottom, the show was just becoming a soap opera of bad acting of cardboard characters.
The plots were some of the worst I have come across and getting worse, the writers appear to lack imagination.
The saving grace for the show is the beautiful Montana scenery. I have given up on the show, my wife appears to like this kind of inane show so I suppose I am relegated to another room as I can't even tolerate this running in the background as the acting is so bad. Disappointed, oh yes.
Sytten (1965)
Close encounters Danish style
I saw this movie in the late 1960s, it's basically the sexual adventures of a youth of, you guessed it, 17. In the late 60s cinema was still very prudish in the UK, these times cinema goers wouldn't give it the time of day, back then it was risqué, hence only shown the greater London area in the UK on an adult only certificate. As a comedy it was amusing, well it made me smile, as a sex film I have seen more in Game of Thrones, as a peice of cinematography it is not great, worth watching if only to see how values have changed over the years. I still remember the film with some fondness would like to see it again to see if my memory is up to scratch.
Our Girl (2013)
Load of rubbish
Being ex services I try not to watch this type of drama, unfortunately I don't have sole domain over the remote, this load of rubbish re-enforces my decision to avoid it like the plague, the acting is wooden, the characters unbelievable, add to that the total lack of knowledge of how the military is run, the interaction between the officer ranks and lower ranks just would not happen, on top of that the military structure as depicted in this so called drama is so far off kilter its a joke. Thats it I can get back to my kindle while she who must be obeyed finishes watching what I hope is the last of what I hope is the last series
Designated Survivor (2016)
Stsrted well then fails miserably
The first series I could stomach, the initial plot was good, as the first series developed it turned into a bonfire of the vanities, some of the plot became implausible the characters unbelievable, by the time of the second series everything just fell apart totally, from the 1st episode to the 18th, the 18th is as far as I could watch as I was forever putting my heaf in my hands saying nooooooo! I expected better than this.
Die Päpstin (2009)
One of those little gems
Didn't know what to expect from a movie called "Pope Joan"! I was pleasantly surprised how good and believable the story was in the first half. I am not going to try and say what the rights and wrongs are of women reaching high office in the church are. For me this was triumph over adversity with understated acting by the lead character. Not sure about the romance side of the film, it didn't seem to add much to the plot there was no real build up to the relationship. The first half of the film was more interesting than the second again the plot seemed to get lost and the characters were not as strong. In saying that I still found myself intrigued by the film. If your wondering if its a film worth watching I think its more than worthwhile. All in all I still enjoyed it even though the plot and characters could have been bit stronger.
Jupiter Ascending (2015)
Jupiter Offending
Being a fan of Sci-fi I expected more from this film than a load of rubbish which this film turned out to be, the only reason I scored it as high I did was for the CGI which is fantastic.
I was totally disappointed, without the CGI this film would have been boring and the biggest waste of money so far this year.
Who told Channing Tatum he could act, I have yet to see him in a worthwhile movie.
The acting, by all was appalling, the storyline was something out of a children's comic, there was no effort to make an adult movie, this is a movie with action for the sake of action.
The movie does not live up to the hype.
