They have tried to force several stories into a couple of movies that just doesn't work, all told in flashbacks that bring nothing to the story, we didn't need to know about ever characters back story, it just gets boring, its lazy from Snyder and I usually like his stuff, but this should have been Netflix series if they wanted to develop all the characters in such ways, the action scenes are good and the visuals are stunning at times as you would expect from a big budget Netflix movie, I just don't know how they keep getting it so wrong, surely someone at Netflix must watch these and opine that they are just not good enough, if you sent to the movie to see this you would be gutted.
This is not a thought provoking action drama by any stretch of your imagination, it's dialogue is laboured and uninspired, the acting is typical of the genre and the storyline in formulaic
John Cena Jackie Chan have no real chemistry and it comes across as forced rather than natural,
The special effects are so poor they're funny, the hand to hand fight scenes are well choreographed but the gun battles are outrageous lots of bullets but seemingly nobody is shot very often, it's ok if your just killing time one afternoon when the cricket is rained off but I wouldn't put time aside as a plan to watch it on Movie night you would be very disappointed.
This is a great concept and makes for interesting viewing, the acting is good and the background character is well thought out.
It's good see an adaptation of the book and great to see Harry Treadway as a leading role, this could have been slow and miserable but it's got a great pace, the only thing I'm getting a bit fed up with is the constant flashbacks, I understand he's a tortured soul.
Sam Anderson plays the detective and is really good, the last time I saw him was in Doctor Who and I expected to see him in a lot more following that.
A great start I hope it keeps up this level of entertainment looking forward to the next instalment.
