Going in blind, I quite enjoyed this movie. Sure, it has it's shortcomings but no way near the hate it's getting here. I don't think this movie was intended for Turkish audiences, who are very vanilla most of the time when it comes to any form of art. I don't know what this movie claimed to be during the advertising period but if you watch it expecting a "normie" comedy, you'll be disappointed. That exact reason is why I enjoyed it. It can be called dark comedy-ish I guess, labels don't matter to me. The art direction was quite beautiful and the acting was decent, as expected from a cast of veteran actors. Comparing this to the dumpster fire that was Leyla Everlasting is a blasphemy.
I don't usually write reviews here but I tend to read them a lot and I have no idea why this movie has the reviews it currently has. By no means is this a bad movie. Sure it has it's issues but nobody would recommend this movie as the next Schindler's List. It's just a fun little movie with some cool moments and decent acting from Foxx and Levitt. My only issue with the film was the awkward decision of making a 29 year-old play a high school girl but all in all I would recommend this if you want to munch some popcorn and have a fun time. I believe it deserves a rating of 6.5 so I gave it a 7 to level the playing field.
This could be a really decent show, if the writing was better. I've never read the books but I'm sure (as with a lot of adaptations) they are much better. The premise is really interesting and with competent writing it could be great. Most of the segments felt rushed and a lot of things were super cliche that you could see them coming from miles away. I heard about this show because of Haluk Bilginer and sadly I feel he could've been used better. He was just a generic villain. I don't like it when villains go into full anime mode and explain all their motives. Also, the actress playing Jack was sadly one of the worst actors I've ever seen. At times it felt like they picked a random person off of the street and gave them a script and said: "Can you read this with as little emotion as possible to the camera?". The best in the first season were, excluding Haluk Bilginer ofc, Alex and Kyra and the black dude in the agency. Episodes 6 and 7 were great but the finale was a dumpster fire. I know they can do good with this show so I'm gonna give the second season a chance but they need to convince me in one or two episodes.
