I'll concede I didn't watch it until the end. I only watched roughly 30 minutes until I gave up, but even then I think I watched 25 minutes more than it deserved. Kevin Dillon i seriously a bad actor, I don't know if he is trying to act "natural" or he is just that bad. He doesn't deserve to be anything rather than a extra. The movie is basically a cliche, white trash likes to have a simple life, gets dragged into crime, Sheriff played by John Travolta will have to go into a shoot off with some career criminal. Basically a western, but very very bad. It's like i can see the movie director likes heavy metal, drag racing and play Counter Strike. But making cinema isn't just recording things, it's a little more than that. Plain bad, don't recommend it to anyone and honestly don't know why I watched it in the first place, maybe because it was playing on Tv and I was too lazy to dig deeper and see what else was playing. I need those 30 minutes of my life back.
As a western viewing this movie I enjoyed it immensily. Being a foreigner i Turkiey, but knowing a tiny bit about its costumes and recent history, I was amazed by this depiction of a village lost in the interior of Turkey, close to the border with Syria. It shows the habits of the Kurdish population, and how a teacher that comes from a big city like Istanbul faces a culture shock. Above all, I think this movie is very beautiful, shows a reality we rarely seen, the lifes and struggles of the misfits the humbleness of poor people but also how they are humans. A great piece of history and culture.
