At first, I didn't like this show. I had seen far better skit shows before (Full Frontal, Comedy Inc, Sketch Show). The show struck me as unfunny and stupid. But after it returned after a non-ratings period, it had vastly improved and was very funny. However, I saw less of Corinne Grant and Peter Helliar (appearing in only 1 or 2 skits per episode). But the show was now excellent and I watched it frequently. The addition of Cal Wilson hasn't stunted it, so long as they keep Fiona Harris, Michael Chamberlain, Roz Hammond et all it'll be just fine. I much prefer it over Comedy Inc, which goes for far too long (and with only a few really funny skits), and The Big Bite (which has disappeared from Queensland television - thank god).
Just show more of Corinne!
Just show more of Corinne!
I must say I used to be quite a fan of the original CSI, but it's timeslot conflicted with my Law & Order viewing. It was definately a good show, quite a refreshing break. So I had high hopes about CSI: Miami, especially considering it was set in one of my favourite US cities. While the stories grab me and I can't switch off, I really dislike some aspects:
1) The cast - David Caruso, whom I never saw in NYPD Blue (never watched it), plays an egomaniac leader who seems more intent on staring into the sunset and taking off his sunglasses than being part of a team. His character is so up himself it's not funny. Kim Delaney's character was unnecessary, and I don't care much for some of the others (I like Khandi Alexander, but her role in Miami is a bit strange) Thankfully they fixed the Delaney error, but the cast still isn't as tidy and developed as CSI's.
2) The style - As they say, all style and no substance. CSI tried to woo us with cool special effects, that I could handle. But everything about this show is trying to hard to impress, and will be hopelessly, hopelessly dated a few years down the track. The introduction, the Hummer H2s, the style, even some of the special effects. Watch an episode in about 10 years, and see what you think.
All in all, a well-written, well-plotted, well-acted show, with a mis-fit cast and kitsch style. I'll stick to the original. While this show is so enthralling to watch, I just can't help but look at some of it's faults, and it ultimately turns me off.

I have watched nearly all of the episodes from all 3 seasons (thank you re-runs on cable) and I have thoroughly enjoyed Veronica's Closet. I bet most of the people who deem it "crappy" are people who have never watched it, and are affixiated on reality television. But I guess everybody's entitled to an opinion. Anyway, Kirstie Alley, Kathy Najimy and the rest of the cast shine. At first I hated Season 2: the original opening sequence was dropped, and Ron Silver was added, but now that I watch it, it was just as quality as Season 1 and 3 (maybe just a bit less so) Many people just seem so hellbent on picking faults of this show - so what if Kirstie Alley was a little chubby?! Must every actress be pencil-thin, eg Callista Flockhart? So what if her hair changed? Why must you think you can blame this show for being crap just because Alley had blonde streaks? Veronica's Closet is an entertaining, funny show. It may not be a classic like Frasier or Seinfeld, but it deserves better than some of these insulting remarks. And it deserves better than being cancelled by NBC.
