Osmar has some nice things in it, some of the jokes are pretty funny, some of the pop culture references are relevant and humorous, and some of the episodes made me smile, but all in all, it was pretty bad. The animation is mediocre at best and plain bad at worst, most of the jokes fall flat, and the stories are boring and predictable. But in my opinion the biggest flaw of the show is the characters. This show has one of the most despicable, detestable, and downright unlikable ensemble of characters that I have ever seen in a TV show. The main character Osmar is an uncharismatic loser who never stands up for himself and is frequently depressed, his love interest Josie is a stupid and disgusting individual who is terribly written despite the fact that she's supposed to be a parody, but the worst offender is the freeloading scumbag of a best friend Stevie. Every time he's on screen I despise him. He treats everyone like garbage and never shows any development or learns anything. Basically, the characters are what brings the show down. When I hate the characters and I don't feel attached to them, I don't feel attached to the show.
Every once in a while, a film comes along that sinks into your collective consciousness, that pushes boundaries that you didn't know could be pushed, that seems to have something for everyone whether you're a fan of complex and intelligent Science-Fiction, or just a plain Action nut.
This movie is Inception. It's a film that redefines what a summer blockbuster can do, and makes you wish for more. A film that makes you think long and hard hours after you left the cinema. A film that effortlessly blends and mixes aspects from all sorts of genres, and makes something wholly new and original come out of the pot.
As a Science-Fiction film, it succeeds by creating a world where it is possible to enter someones dreams, see their thoughts and steal (or incept) ideas from their mind. As an Action film, it succeeds by creating original and exciting set pieces, most notable of the bunch is a breathtaking spinning hallway fight scene that still leaves my jaw dropped every time I see it.
Sure it has it's flaws, like the fact that characters often take a back seat in favor of explaining the rules and physics of this world, and also having some inconsistencies with the rules themselves, but with such a grand and thought provoking concept, it was inevitably going to have some. Most important is the fact that non of the flaws take away from the excitement, the thrills, and the overall fun you experience while watching this fantastic film.
It also holds a special place for me personally, seeing how it is the source of one of my favorite running jokes that i have with my friends. Because the film deals with the idea of dreams within dreams, me and my friends like thinking of funny ideas for "Something within Something" to get "Something-Ception". For example: It's a film, within a film, within a film... Filmception! Try it, the possibilities are limitless.
Christopher Nolan has created yet another masterpiece to his impressive track record, and has created a modern classic for all to enjoy. I give this film a 9/10
