Animal (2023)
Do Not Waste your precious 4 hours
I repeat do not waste your time on this awful, pathetic and brainless movie!!
I don't even know where to begin. Maybe I can start with crazy plot armour for the main characters, I mean literally nothing can kill them even bullets to chest and the movie makers call it "adrenaline" rush that keeps them going like that.
The writing for this movie is so so poor, and the BGM for this movie is a classic example of how not to overdo it..and play it literally for all the scenes even where it's not required.
The only positive I can pick from this movie and why I have rated it 2 instead of 1 is Bobby Deol, his acting was very good and was actually a better and more realistic psycho than Ranbirs character, and don't be fooled by the trailers Bobby Deol's role is more of a cameo, he hardly has any screen time in this 3 and half hour movie.
All in all, do something better than watch this movie, I have no hopes for Bollywood.
The Pogmentary (2022)
Just hype and nothing else, just like his entire football career
This is just another hype he has managed to create about himself. He is just an average football player with a great PR team that tries to convince the world that he is some magician lol. He is injury prone and so much self-centered, he is more of a celebrity than a football player, he has more creativity in his hair styles than on the pitch.
Jana Gana Mana (2022)
Absolutely thrilling & a very strong plot
This was a great watch! Clearly a lot of efforts has gone in to writing and Suraj and Prithviraj have done amazingly well to portray their characters. This movie can hurt a lot of political sentiments and hence negative reviews are fairly common, in my opinion the movie has stayed neutral and has shown the real face of politics irrespective of any party. The role of social media in today's politics has been highlighted very well. Would highly recommend this movie to all Indians.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
Absolutely love this show!
After the disappointment that is Game of Thrones I turned to The Last Kingdom and boy am I glad that I decided to start watching this one.
Great characters, and even better story. This show is a very good example of the fact that you don't need high level CGI or graphics to make a good TV show, its just pure acting and a great story and they have done a great job so far. Definitely looking forward to season 5!
What We Do in the Shadows: The Curse (2020)
Nandor is just amazing
This was the funniest episode of this season so far.. Nandor and the email curse.. Loved it.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Solves Global Warming (2019)
Super awesome!
Really enjoyed watching this episode .. And guess what the Trash man is back in a whole new appearance.. Charlie is awesome. Hope this show goes on forever.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Dee Day (2019)
Best episode of this season so far
This was a classic sunny episode! Amazing plot and well executed, and yeah Dee's a bird, always will be.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Just when you think it can't get any worse..
Season 8 has been a massive disappointment right from the start, most of us agree on that..and just when we think they can't do any worse than this they actually do it. Worst possible ending to a series I'd say. No point going in to details, the show was doomed right from the start of this season or maybe the last. Hope the Dumb & Dumber doesn't get to ruin Star Wars as well.
Barry (2018)
Amazingly Good!!
Just started with the first season and am totally hooked ! Wasn't expecting it to be this good when I saw the rating here, but I liked the plot and gave it a shot, and am so glad that I did.
This is great writing, and all the actors are just brilliant! This show reminds me of how the initial seasons of Breaking Bad were, before it hit the mainstream. This show has a great plot and potential to reach the top, and with such an awesome cast I won't be surprised if this hits mainstream soon as well.
What makes this show good is the balance of humour and emotions. It has it's funny elements thanks to Gene, Fuches and NoHo Hank, just love these characters, special mention to Goran Pazar too. Bill Hader plays the lead (Barry) exceptionally well, emotions were spot on and one could actually connect with the character and he is well supported by Sarah Goldberg who plays Sally Reed.
Overall, I am totally digging it right now. Highly recommended.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
Unrealistic
This episode started out well, build up was terrific, Melisandre's early entry got my hopes even higher and was expecting something unpredictable which the show is known for.
However, once the battle started one could clearly see how poor the writing was, War strategy was so poorly devised. Lighting Dothraki Arakh's just for the aesthetic appeal and then sending them to a certain death.
Once the Wights reach the front lines of Winterfell it gets even worse, Army of men and women is outnumbered by 10 to 1 but still all the main characters escape with just a few scratches on their face, even the one handed Jamie manages to survive the attack from a thousand Wights while Dolorous Edd just got randomly killed by a Wight from behind, which is exactly what would have happened to other main characters as well if we are being realistic.
Aerial dogfight between the dragons was poorly executed again, once Drogon takes out Night king's dragon, Jon's dragon is injured from all the fighting and goes down, not sure if it's dead or alive. Night king's dragon is seen again moments later attacking soldiers inside the castle. Everything seemed very disconnected.
When Jon tries to attack Night King, NK resurrects all the dead and sets them after Jon, at this point Jon is completely surrounded by Wights from ALL sides, but for some reason these set of Wights move very slowly and don't seem to attack their subject all at once, unlike we saw in "Hardhome" or "The Door", where the wights attack in great numbers all at once and very swiftly, anyway, after that, the scene is cut and later when we come back Jon is not surrounded by Wights from all sides anymore and they only attack him one by one.
Arya kills the Night King, the scene was directed well, it had a cinematic feel about it but I thought he got killed rather too easily. Arya is a killer and am not taking that away from her but the execution was so poor. Night king is supposed to be like a super villain, but the way he got killed doesn't do any justice to all the build up in the past 7 seasons. It could've been way better.
Let's hope Cersei doesn't get the same treatment in the war for seven kingdoms.
C.I.D. Moosa (2003)
Average slapstick comedy
Movie is an attempt at slapstick comedy, while some of the scenes are really funny, especially because the supporting characters were really good and are veteran actors, Dileep, who plays the protagonist CID Moosa, although does the comedy scenes well his overall acting was way below average as usual. The best performance was by Arjun, a German shepherd dog and Moosa's sidekick. I'm rating it 5 only for the excellent performance by Arjun and some decent comedy scenes otherwise Dileep's acting makes me cringe and almost never watch his movies.
Sudani from Nigeria (2018)
A class act by Soubin Shahir
This is one of those rare Malayalam movies which has totally moved me. While the movie does reflect on the love Keralites have for the beautiful game of Football, it delivers a message which goes beyond Football, it has emotional elements, touches upon the refugee crisis and civil war in Nigeria, and the traditions and cultural aspects of Kerala at its core.
The cast comprises mostly of small time actors, save for Soubin, who all did their roles exceptionally well. Soubin literally lived the character he played, very composed and natural. Story was really good and well executed. Character transformation of the protagonist played by Soubin was one of the best things I liked about the movie, some sudden predicaments we find ourselves in teaches us a lot about life and makes us appreciate what we have.
Highly recommending everyone to watch this movie football follower or not. This movie, like I said, is much more than that. Hope Soubin and Malayalam film industry produces more movies like this one.
Breathe (2018)
A Class act by Madhavan
I had little to no expectations before I started the series, that's mainly because of what we have already seen in other Hindi TV series and soaps which runs for ages and makes no sense whatsoever and also our strong belief that an Indian tv/web series can never match the likes of what Hollywood produces which does stand true to a good extent even now no doubt about that, but after watching Breathe i must say we do have some hope, we have the right talent..maybe all they lack is a good platform.
Madhavan was the reason I thought I should give it a shot, and it was worth it. He is a natural actor and He lived the character he plays in the series. Also, the Background score was just amazing it played a pivotal role in portraying the feelings and emotions of the series in the right way. The supporting roles played by some veteran Marathi actors deserve a special round of applause, great stuff.
I personally thought the other lead role played by Amit sadh could have been better, decent acting by him but the role he plays needed someone more fierce perhaps. Overall this was a great watch and I'd definitely recommend it.
The Man from Earth: Holocene (2017)
A Good example of why some movies should better be left untouched
The Man from Earth is one of the most amazing movies ever, I mean there is no other movie of that kind, at least to my best knowledge, and more importantly the movie ended exactly how it should have, it was Perfect in every sense.
The Sequel was a good attempt to say the least but the acting and story itself was rather disappointing. The whole theme of the movie got somewhat disrupted, the original Man from earth was a complete scientific exploration on its own, there was a touch of mystery, facts, a classic debate over human existence and the Gods, where as the sequel was more centred towards John's character, his personal life, and a bunch of school kids investigating his identity, no mystery, no debates, nothing new..viewers already know who and what John is.
So to conclude, its almost impossible to extend a movie like The Man from Earth, my expectations weren't high to begin with but I watched it anyway hoping I will be proved wrong but of course that never happened. So, while I definitely appreciate the effort, I strongly believe that they should have left it where it ended.
Game of Thrones: Battle of the Bastards (2016)
Do not miss one of the best cinematic experiences ever on Television!
I think till date there has not been a Television series or a Movie for that matter which has filmed a Battle/War fiction this good. The full-on battle in the North was more like a first person view through the eyes of Jon Snow, there were some moments when you might actually think you're there for yourself, sheer beauty of Cinematography.
** SPOILERS AHEAD** The episode was fast-paced living up to the expectation, it was all out war not just in the North but also in Mereen, which was rather short lived thanks to the Dragons. Back to North, this is the like the best of Jon Snow we have seen this far I think better than all his previous battles, that moment when he stands alone against a storming Bolton army literally sent a shiver down my spine. Jon gets a little assist in the nick of time from Petyr Baelish's Vale army, courtesy of Sansa of course, which eventually destroys the Bolton army.
Rickon and Wun Wun are killed during the battle, Rickon was not a fan favorite as such, but still, yet another loss for the ever receding Stark family. One notable member missing from the battle for the Stark side was Ghost, last seen when Jon Snow came was resurrected.
The wait has ended for the Starks to reclaim their home from outsiders, although now they have the ever unpredictable Petyr Baelish / Littlefinger, which is quite interesting. This episode was a treat to watch, and we can definitely look forward to more interesting events building up for the season Finale! Valar Morghulis.
Game of Thrones: Hardhome (2015)
Adrenaline overload !
This is what we expect from Game of Thrones, and by far this will go down as one of the best episodes overall, and deservedly. Every minute of this episode is poised to give you that feel which we thought has been long lost after some of the recent episodes. 'The Gift' had definitely showed some great comeback potential but this is was the real Winner. Tyrion is back to what he does best and Jon Snow has become a man of action again, but who has really impressed me in this one is Tormund, this character has definitely improved a lot this season, and reflects true fighting spirit and courage. Overall, this was one hell of a show couldn't take my eyes off the screen for a second, don't dare miss this one ! Valar Morghulis !
Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
Thank you for Kingsman!
This is one of those movies where after the it ends you will say, that was 2 hours well spent. Action begins from the go, and it is very realistic or at least they have made it look realistic on the screen, unlike some other similar movies, there is no flying or gravity defying moves here, its more of a close combat and that really intrigued me. Precision perfect stunts and amazing cinematography with a touch of humor will definitely make you come alive. The characters in the movie are really appealing, A notable candidate would be the super villain, calm, humorous and villainous all at the same time, loved his character. Even though the movie is action packed, it comes with a good story, a very good one in fact, so the bottom line is, this is a Great Movie and worth your time !
Interstellar (2014)
Gem of a Movie!
Interstellar, Another feather in Nolan's cap, This movie is surely one of the Nolan's finest blend, it had everything that makes you glued to the seats and those nail biting moments I can watch it again and have the same feeling as watching it for the first time, and don't be fooled by some idiots claiming that the movie is way too technical and you need to brush up your Physics before watching the movie, don't fall for this bullshit, the movie is clear and concise and well not to mention but just like any other Nolan movie this one also leaves much to your interpretation and I believe that's what makes the movies of Nolan stand out from others, it's all about IMAGINATION with a good bit of science and what could very well be a reality, I don't want to spoil it for you by revealing any interesting parts of the movie, I would recommend the movie to anyone who loves watching fiction movies that makes you believe in the fiction they portray, yes we are far from the reality, but when you are in there watching this movie, those 3 hours you become a part of the movie and it becomes the reality, few movies have given me such experience in the past, and this one definitely tops the chart!
