Yet another gruesome dog's breakfast of guns, killings, explosions, beatings, chases, torture. All I could do to watch the first half hour of this before I gave up. I guess if there's any redeeming value to this movie, it would be that it raises the question, over and over again, of what the heck America thought it could gain by tromping all over the Middle East with its big fat brutal boot. I guess the other redeeming value is the portrayal of the loathsome CIA boss (played by Russell Crowe) who's ordering tortures and deception and murder while tenderly taking his kids to the potty or to soccer games. A classic DC parasite bureaucrat with no moral compass. Don't burn your eyeballs out with this miserable stuff.
Highly recommend this movie! Great actors. Great acting. Excellent plot with a great twist at the end. Don't be deceived if it starts off a little slow. The action and suspense build up gradually to a great ending. The therapeutic tension between the hero who's trying to restrain his murderous nature and the psychiatrist who's trying to prevent the hero from lapsing into a frenzy of lethal mayhem is pure dark comedy genius! Every character is believable and well acted, from the implacable mother figure to the ditzy blonde female to the coldblooded mercenaries. The head villain bears an odd resemblance to Elon Musk. Coincidence? You decide. Don't miss this excellent example of action and suspense.
