3 Idiots (2009)
3 X 3 = the mark for this film ;)
What's 3 X 4? That's how many years the film was released, don't ask why I haven't reviewed this film sooner, but the film's topic is mainly pressure from society, whether be it education, marriage or career and this film does great to showcase Amir Khan his humbleness to help others and enjoy life the way they want. This film is somewhat relatable and possibly to others and does a brilliant job showcasing this.
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
Watered down from the anime
As the title suggests, it was enjoyable for a netflix show but as an anime adaptation it fails to capture the charm that the anime had like looking more like a comedy than a sci fi noir, combining plots together to make it compact e.g. Vicious hiring Le Fou to kill Spike, Faye getting involved with the couple from ep1, The teddy bomber at the ship etc, thus comes narrative deviations like adding Jet's daughter, making Faye into LGBT, Ein connected to Le Fou's backstory and Julia staying with Vicious. I don't mind if they change the setting and somehow combine two episodes together (although each episode from the anime is it's own thing) but please do NOT change the character's backstory and your own thing, it will not work like adding this woke culture onto Faye by having her make out with a random woman is absolutely disgusting along with doing her dirty by bluntly introducing her in ep1 without any context.
On the bright side. I think Mustafa Shakir was hands down was the best choice for Jet, he even sounds like him as well, I'm also fine with Spike (a bit too old), Faye, Julia & Vicious.
Is this the worst anime adaptation? No, it wasn't bad at all, I like the OST, action & cinematography, probably waay better than DB: Evolution
Is there room for improvement? Yes, in fact if this show ended with Spike dying and Vicious and Julia winning I would hate this show, but as it stands, there's plenty of story left like Faye's past, Introduction of Ed, Ein's story and Spike's revenge.
For now I'll wait and see if season 2 will be better, hopefully introduce references from episodes I haven't seen yet.
Cike Wu Liuqi (2018)
China going up, Japan going down!
Funny story, I stumbled upon this show by random while on Netflix and I thought it had a cool premise so I gone ahead and watched it for myself.
From the get go I thought it was going to be another boring Shonen-type anime, but to my surprise it balances out the action with weight along with LOL comedy. To my surprise this was made in China and it reminds me one of those flash cartoon or games back in the 00's, not in a bad way.
The series has a very interesting cast of characters along with the story and world it's set in. Anyone who's into anime or wants to see Chinese animation definitely need to watch this.
I give it a 10/10 (first time giving an animation this rating and that's me just being generous)
Extraction (2020)
When John Wick meets The Raid!
Just spot this film being advertised on Netflix and by watching some of the trailers, I thought I'd give the film a chance to watch since it looked promising.
It was well paced and everybody did their part just right, Chris Hemsworth, Randeep Hoda and the boy (forgot his name) were the highlights of the film, the fight scenes were all taken in one shot making it easier to watch (if your into Gareth Evans-style action, this is def the movie to watch).
The only downside was one or two plot holes and some of the dialogue in the middle act, otherwise a very enjoyable film, probably the best film of 2020, hope a sequel comes soon.
Re:Born (2016)
Solid action film with a lot of mystery
Looking through some action flicks that asia has to offer like China & Korea, Japan seemed to lack more of the good live-action films, however I stumbled upon Tak's film on Amazon Prime and decided to watch it.
I must say Tak Sakaguchi proved to be engaging in most of the fight scenes, although the plot was confusing at times, it didn't hinder the film's quality, I can also tell Tak went all out on this one, for this who don't know, he is really fast in real life also. The film also had a decent cast that did there part and was satisfying to watch.
Is this film the greatest action flick? prob not, but this is definitely worth watching, a film that can be described "strange" but not in a bad sense with all it's stylistic choices.
Li Xiao Long chuan qi (2008)
The best biopic of Bruce Lee to date!
I finally get to sit down and watch the english dubbed 30 episodes after a decade, this wasn't just about martial arts, it was about Bruce Lee's struggle trying to climb his way to the top while facing discrimination and the teachings of Chinese philosophy, their are also many likeable characters that helped Bruce's success such as Kimura, Uncle Shao and Dan Inasanto. Unlike the 1993 film, Dragon: Bruce Lee story, this version explains more in depth why Bruce came to America and what was the purpose of his style Jeet Kune Do and to my surprise the series doesn't exaggerate his style too much and kept it practical and less flashy, the actor not only looks strikingly like Bruce but does a great performance to act like him in characteristics-wise, the fights in most episodes are great for the budget they have for a tv series (best fight scene would have to be Bruce vs Rolex). This is a must see for every Bruce Lee fan if you want to see a deeper look into how Bruce Lee came to rise, although the english dub at first was funny to watch, but later episode they improve on it.
Saladin (2010)
One of the best CG animated series I've ever watched
I've known about this series almost a decade ago when it was shown on Al-jazeera channel but I couldn't find a english dub until couple of years later, problem was that there were limited episodes of it. Now in 2019, I finally found the full episode list and can safely say this is one of the best CG animated series for numerous reasons, realistic & historical theme, well structured story, great fight scenes, top-notch animation and great voice acting (even in the english dub).
We also get likeable characters like Saladin (the main protagonist), Tarik (the Joker), Duncan (the brute) and Anisa (the heroin), even characters like Behram (the sympathetic villain) and Shadow/Sofia (anti-hero) get shining moments.
The fight scenes are a brilliant mix of middle eastern sword fighting and Silat which makes a fun and sometimes cinematic display of creativity.
My only complaint is there are some plot hole regarding Anisa's sister (who appeared as a cameo in the episode "bad guy"), however this may not be as important as Saladin's quest.
Overall: it's great to see an animated series with a muslim protagonist, but also trying to promote the historical figure with it's professional production, it may even be on par with Star Wars: Clone Wars, if not better and I wish see more of this type of show on TV.
Venom (2018)
Fun and enjoyable film, but could've benefitted an R rating
For the last decade, we finally get a faithful adaptation of the character Venom, after the Spider-man 3 flop, I always wonder if Topher would reprise as Venom in Spider-man 4 or a spin-off Sony was planning at the time, however due to their misfortune they had to reboot the film series with yet another flop. After Spidey was brought to the MCU, Sony decided to resurrect the Venom film.
Sorry for the rambling, I've seen the film today and I can say it was quite enjoyable but it was no masterpiece. Tom Hardy convinced me that he can play a way better version of Eddie Brock/Venom than Topher Grace, especially the relation between Eddie and the symbiote was a great idea as we can see how they interact, Venom was much bigger (which looks closely to the comics) and always say "we" unlike Topher's ver.
The plot was consistent and explains into detail about the symbiotes and the main antagonist's goals, what isn't consistent is it's tone, as it looks like a horror film but acts as an Action-Comedy (I suppose it's a comic book film, but the trailers tricked me into thinking it's a horror film), don't get wrong the comedy is fine and it's not off putting but it would benefit more if it went into detail with horror and violence to balance it out.
The main antagonist looks too much like a nice guy (I suppose that's his way of deception lol) and the Eddie's GF is kind of forgettable, however I will say that the film's action is pretty good (although it looks bit tamed) and the CG for the symbiotes look great.
Overall I had fun with this movie, but I'm not satisfied due to the lack of horror, violence and more character development and I have yet to see an uncut edition on Blu-Ray (heard 40 mins was cut from the film to keep it pg-13/15), but on the bright side Kletus Cassidy a.k.a Carnage appears right at the end of credits, a hint towards a sequel perhaps (lets hope it's much darker and scarier) along with a nice sneak peek look at Into the Spider-Verse film.
God Hand (2006)
One of the best beat em ups of 2k6 and sadly Clover's farewell
I've been wanting to play this game for a decade now and I finally bought it on psn, to see how wrong IGN was (the fact they were nit picking stuff like the graphics), however upon playing this game I can say it is very enjoyable to play and even keep, here's why:
Story, theme and characters:
The story is not taking it's self too seriously and there are a lot of moments which are hilarious (e.g. the power ranger duo). The story is some what kept simple, martial art protagonist given the power of god hand to defeat the demons who are after him but eventually his love interest is kidnapped right at the end. Some fans will definitely recognise voice talent such as Darren Norris and Sam Riegel which they do a fine job in this game, however the other are ok apart from some other dialogue that just don't make sense e.g. every big thug says "I'm Alexander the Great!" lol. Since the theme is a parody of any anime (particularly Gene being similar to Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star), many of the bosses have different themes going from fighting bosses such as a masked gorilla, a robot, a demon lady, a rock star, power rangers, gay stripers etc and it get's crazier and I think it works brilliantly.
Gameplay:
At the beginning it was hard due to losing several times to thugs and bosses alike, but unlike any other beat em up, a certain attack works for certain foes and what I like is that you learn from your enemies the second time, once you start getting good at it not only your TP meter allows your to transform into your god hand mode (which allows you to hit your foes with more damage while being invincible) but also earn money to buy new moves or your can sell them, also there's this roulette feature which triggers a menu to choose a finishing move on your opponent in the most cinematic way (but you have couple of seconds to choose), also QTE is implemented when your foe is knocked so your finish them off by mashing buttons (kneeing fat guy's head, rapid punching thugs etc). Though the camera angle and dodge mechanism may be my gripe with this game but it isn't a big issue.
Conclusion:
Overall this game is great, not perfect as I yet explore more of it (only finished the game once and I haven't been into the casino). Now from what I heard about the development of this game what given less time as it was first revealed in April 2006 and released around September 2006 (which is why it looks a bit unfinished) , many people complained about the outdated graphics (e.g. clipping through walls) and camera problems, but to me this is a quality game made by Shinji Mikami and if it was given at least 1 year to develop it would've been a solid game right up there with games like Yakuza and Urban Reign in the same genre, heck make sequels or spin-offs of it since the game is so unique. Sadly such a brilliant game is forgotten and Clover's last game, fans of capcom, viewtiful joe or beat em ups should definitely try it out.
Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor (2018)
One of the Best CG animated films from Pakistan, but not the greatest
I've recently watched the full film on ARY and it was surprisingly good, it's set in khyber although I can understand 30% Urdu, I can get each character's goal and motives which are kept simple such as:
Heroes:
Allahyar - main protagonist, wants revenge on Mani for killing his father, helps Markhor to get back home.
Markhor - other protagonist, wants to get back home and eventually became Allahyar's best friend
Hero - comic relief character, a chuckar bird that has a crush on Markhor, tags along with the gang because not only he knows the way to the place they're looking for but also wants to impress her also. Btw he's probably my fave character in the film.
Chakku - A young snow leopard who comes in the latter half of the film, he comes to not only rescue the gang but also wants to get revenge on the antagonist for killing his parents (kinda relatable backstory for the protagonist).
Villains:
Mani - The Main Antagonist, don't know whether I consider him a badass or a jackass since there are scenes where he does cool parkour moves across the forrest and beats up a bunch of fully grown wolves without getting hurt (in real life he would be dead less than a minute) and scenes such as rubbing his foot and smelling it or literally eating sh!t. The point of him being in this film show that anyone is desperate for money, even showing no mercy to humans let alone animals and sometime as human being can make cruel decisions.
Bubloo - The Antagonist's sidekick, I'd say is neutral from the beginning as he's only doing his job (like having a better pay than his usual job at the store) and later finds out the cruelty of the main villain's plan. What I like about the inclusion of the sidekick is that he's not just some cliche lackey with no personality who does what the villain tells him to do in some other films, Babloo is a character who has heart and decides what's wrong and what's right for himself.
Wolves - Nothing much to say about them other than being side filler villains since they looked hungry lol.
Although the film was considerably short, it had a solid storyline, great animation, great cinematography, good music, acting and pretty much everything that makes it professional, my only complaint is that Allahyar (the protagonist) was easily forgettable because of course the markhor steals the spotlight and also a plot hole were the ending shows Allahyar's father found his son, while being alive it doesn't explain how he was knocked out (unless I missed something or Allahyar forgot to check his pulse).
Overall I enjoyed the symbolism of the film's characters (representing national animals) and getting it's message across (being that the animals are in danger because of poachers), as much as I like this film, I doubt it would get a sequel (unless the villain escapes or bailed out of prison to join another group for a spin-off film lol).
Is it the greatest CG animated film?
No, I've seen better
Is it Pakistan's best CG film ever?
Definitely, seeing it has a solid approach in filmmaking and a step in the right direction as young generation is better than old generation.
Must watch, especially being almost the same league as Shrek, The Incredibles, Kung Fu Panda etc.
Justice League (2017)
Perfect comic book film for the fans
So I went to see it in 4D with my family and boy was it worth it, definitely watch it in 4D because it makes the shots look beautiful as if it is straight from a comic book. The story however was a bit cliché but still enjoyable and some parts understandable but some fans will understand, The action scenes were well done, especially showing off so much of the character's abilities, however the villain seems a bit cliché though.
character roles review: Batfleck - This is the third time Ben has played the character (Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad) and once again he nailed the character that should look like and act like from the comics, such a bad ass performance, Batman is smart and gets taken down by superhuman beings such as the para demons or Superman and yet walks it of, would've got killed if he was a normal guy but he's not he's BATMAN! Also he doesn't get pummelled by random street thugs (looking at you Bale), he manages to knock out a few para demons singlehandedly. What's also great is the gorgeous shot of Batman in some scenes really stand out, so I'm hoping to see the solo film with Ben reprising it (begging you to return).
Superman - Even though I prefer Tom Welling (Smallville) as the definitive Superman, Henry was pretty good in this role, so I wouldn't mind seeing him more, also the CGI on his mouth was noticeable from the beginning, close ups & ending but you know what, I don't care because I understood the situation before I seen this film but what would've been better if they put a beard on him to blend in with the moustache and gave him a black suit then he would've looked great as a contrast of change when resurrected.
Wonder Woman - Never really cared who played her, Gal Gadot did good for the role although I prefer someone like adrianne palicki to play her, but it was good that they showed off her weapons and abilities for this film.
Aquaman - Jason did brilliant in the role and the suit design looked good as well, unlike previous portrayers of the role and since Arthur Curry is half-human half-atlantean, he's meant to look different from an average guy hence the strong physique and piercing blue eyes which made the character cooler than the classic version some fans remember from Super Friends. They also made the character very useful for the plot as well.
Cyborg - Ray did good in the role and looks exactly like the character I remembered from the cartoon (Teen Titans) especially saying the catchphrase booyah, though I don't think casual film goers will not understand his origin easily, but he makes up for it with some scenes he was in and he was also cool as well. The CGI was well done for the film as well.
The Flash - I still prefer Grant Gustin's Flash, though Ezra didn't do bad but he wasn't given enough development even though some scenes were funny and the slo-mo sequence was done much better than the TV ver, especially showing off the speed force he has. Also the suit is too armoured and his relation with his father was a bit rushed and I didn't feel that father/son bond compared to Grant Gustin & John Wesley Shipp from the TV ver.
Commissioner Gordon - JK was talented as J Jonah and now he's great as the Commissioner, no words
Deathstroke - OK this maybe a bit of a spoiler but Joe nailed this role and looked exactly like the comics, A towering white haired American assassin for hire and better than Manu (not that he was bad but Arrow writers messed up his character completely), he looks like he could go toe to toe with Batfleck in the solo film or Justice League sequel. I must say he looks really different from when he played Flash in Raimi's Spider-man.
Overall: Definitely better than Avengers movie (seeing how Disney is going downhill with the movie property), a gorgeous film to watch, just ignore the haters and see it for yourself (in 4D if you want), the experience is worth it and DC is doing great establishing it's movie universe. (I really want to see Forever Evil, JLA Earth 2 or Batman Beyond story lines get adapted in the future)
Enjoy!
Swaroop: Bovine Bliss (2001)
A really forgettable show that deserved not to be picked up
I remember as a little boy watching this at my cousin's house in Canada back in 2K1, during Cartoon Network's golden age. After over 15 years I've finally found it and I didn't really enjoy it as much compared to when I seen it first time and I thought seeing a show centred on an Indian family was kind of original, but it had more flaws with it.
The story is about an Indian kid stealing his next door neighbour's cow due to his religion, then regrets his decision after the cow bosses him around, that's it?
Well what do you expect from this short? The brother is soo annoying, the parents are dumb, the granny is a bossy and Swaroop is an A$$hole for stealing that guy's cow (must've cost him to buy that cow), insulting him and injuring him. The whole family comes of as a very stereotypical Indian-American family, also their lifestyle is backwards.
I'm glad this didn't get picked up, because it seems very racist, I can see the Indian community getting raged with this show lol. I wouldn't waste time with this short as the plot is useless and the only redeeming thing about this short is it's animation and voice acting (well for the most part).
Sym-Bionic Titan (2010)
Unresolved show that need gaps to fill in
Even though this cartoon has not been aired in the UK, I heard of it over the net though so I tried to read up info about it and it surprised me that it is one of Genndy's work (the same guy that made Samurai Jack), so I rather watch it. Even though there's this trend in all of Genndy's work e.g. dark & gritty look, badass tragic hero, origin episode, anti-climactic ending etc, but this show amazed me with it's visuals along with motion blurs in fight scenes and atmospheric sound and making the show more horror-action genre.
As for the characters, here's what I think:
Octus-Without a doubt steal the show, for some reason it's interesting to see a human side of him as he struggles to question whether he's a robot or not and also having feelings for Kimmy (even though she's a slut), also acts as a father-figure towards Ilana and Lance. I feel he's very likable and really hilarious.
Lance-Even though he's not as interesting protagonist compared to Samurai Jack (another of Gennedy's previous work), he can be badass at times and find his way through, even though he can be stubborn towards Ilana and not give a sh!t about Earth's customs. But to be honest whenever there are people in his past being a$$holes towards him and having to lose his father and mother, I kinda feel bad for him. He's somewhat likable and hilarious.
Ilana-Nothing much to say other than trying to be polite, I feel as if she needs more character development on her side.
General Steel-Other than the uncanny resemblance to Marvel's Thunderbolt Ross, he sure screams a lot.
Solomon-reminds me of Agent Bishop from TMNT (both having similar roles) and looks like Alucard from Hellsing. He was pretty cool and quite likable, he began being an enemy and later an ally towards the three main characters and I'm hoping to see the mystery behind G3.
Kimmy-Other than being an annoying whiny b!tch who gets whatever she wants, she began being a bully towards Ilana to being more caring after Ilana saved her. She also serves as being the love interest for Octus (hope he ditches her but I highly doubt it lol).
And my biggest problems are the plot holes that I question about and here it is: *Is Ilana still safe? *What is going to happen to the king of Galaluna? *Will General Modula find the princess? *What the G3 boss Lance's dad? *The origin of Solomon? *Is G3 an enemy of the US army? *Will Steel ever be allied with the three main characters? *Octus relation with Kimmy, if continued is he going to reveal his secret to her? *the fate of the people from Lance's past e.g. Baron, his roommate etc, if they're dead or alive? *Lance's relation with the goth girl, kristin? *What is General Modula capable of?
Also I feel like watching the 20 episodes feels like the beginning of the story (since it's like watching a quarter of the full story) hence the name of the final episode 'A New Beginning', it was pretty ballsy for CN to pull the plug on this show way too early just over toy sales (it could've been as popular as Adventure Time). I also want to see character developments, more variety of villains (not just monsters, but other Titans possibly), plot holes really needs explaining and also the struggle of the titan (since it was too OP, I want to see it get hurt and upgrade itself).
I'm aware that it's been nearly 6 years after it ended, but never say never as season 5 of Samurai Jack recently returned on Adult Swim, so maybe have this show back on Adult Swim or Netflix?
Magi: Shindobaddo no bôken (2016)
Good short anime series
It's been quite awhile since I reviewed anything for ages but I must say that this anime series incorporates 1001 Arabian nights in a different manner, Sinbad in this version is very likable and becomes a sailor not just for the sake of it (I'm looking at you Luffy LOL), he becomes a sailor to change the world and unite nations (wherever corruption is) due to his sad origin. The action is great, but some character designs don't look great at all, some male characters look too feminine but it wasn't that much of a big let down. The real reason I watched this is because of my interest in Arabian mythology and also Sinbad the sailor, definitely check it out as it is only 13 episodes long.
Fateh (2014)
Nice try, but better luck next time!
Thanks to IMDb user The_Phantom_Projectionist for helping me find a film about Gatka, the reason why I'm very interested in Gatka is because it use to be popular in Pakistan (but now it's slowly less popular due to the MMA craze) and the fact my uncles from Pakistan been telling me that it's all about sword/stick & shield play.
Anyways I think I was out of topic lol, Fateh was more corny than serious, having a similar premise from Karate kid (jealous jock picks on smart-puny guy because the girl prefers that guy instead of him, stranger saves puny guy from jock, stranger teaches puny guy, training montage of puny guy, enters tournament, nearly gets his arse kicked until something triggers him and ends up winning against the jock).
Also I can tell the main protagonist (Nav Bajwa) had so much potential (doing his own stunts) but was a bit of a waste due to the sloppy editing at times in fight scenes (along with stereotypical international fighters using fictional martial arts to make it more corny lol), also would've been better without the musical scenes (I guess it's a permanent staple of Bollywood lol).
Overall the only redeeming thing about this was the sympathy for the protagonist (of what he went through), the training montage and Nav Bajwa doing backflips in slo-mo lol. This film ended up being more of a RomCom instead of sports action, leaving this film being unrealistic and cliché.
If you don't care about realism and care about watching it for fun, then your free to watch it, but if you want to see it just for Gatka then go watch Jodhaa Akbar (as there are scenes of it being depicted) instead of this, although it was nice to see Gatka strongly depicted in this film.
Tian jiang xiong shi (2015)
One of the best (and yet underrated) Jackie Chan film of this decade!
I manage to watch this on an airplane while I was on my way to Qatar, anyways I was a bit worried of what the outcome might be e.g. Flops like tuxedo, the medallion and the spy next door, but it turns out that it was so brilliant (guess the critics are wrong about this film. Here are some of my pros I manage to break down: *The most redeeming thingwas the fight scenes, as Jackie stated in behind the scenes promo (he wanted the fight scenes to be realistic instead of a wuxia-type fight scene) and he absolutely delivers it well, he's in his 60's so he's not a young lad anymore that can make fight scenes look fancy (or perform stunts) and tbh it fits well with his age, also it was great contrast with eastern vs western styles of fighting. *diverse location/cast-I was so surprised of how many groups were involved including Uighur, Huns, White Indians etc and also the Romans, also filmed in a beautiful desert and with no cgi what so ever. *Prop design-the scorpion sword (attaching wrist rope to sword) was pretty original and artistic at the same time, also the costume design was also artistic as well (as it wasn't very typical).
Here are my cons: *acting-it wasn't bad nor great, it was alright but could've done a bit better. *story dragging too long-my only complaint is when it tries to get into the action, there were some boring dialogue but nothing that puts me off from the film.
Verdict: It was very interesting to see Adrien Brody to play the antagonist as he seemed to always play protagonists in previous roles. As for Jackie, he did say he wants to be a better actor so I think he should make film like this in the future minus the historical era lol.
Pirate Brothers (2011)
Fast paced and excellent fight choreography!
What a martial arts film needs is a bit of drama and this film got that nailed perfectly, although it's a bit rushed, Robin Shou actually improved in this film from when I saw him in 1995's Mortal Kombat in acting. Also newcomer Verdy Bhawanta did fairly good in acting, but OMG he had the most stylistic capoiera movements I've ever seen in a movie (which some movies fail to represent) compared to Lateef Crowder (not bad, but he's good too). this film rarely let me down but the only problem was realism but I don't really care that much for it TBH.
I wish good luck for Robin Shou (for improving his acting) and Verdy Bhawanta (to see him in more action films). So if your a Robin Shou fan, your definitely gonna see some great performance from him and if your just a casual movie goer, then this film is definitely on the same league as Ong Bak, Undisputed 3, District 13 and The Transporter.
Acting=7/10 Plot=8.5/10 Action=10/10
Assassin's Creed III (2012)
Worst AC game ever!?!
I borrowed this game of a friend 2 years ago and I can say this was very disappointing and heres why: 1. When the trailers and cover art first debut back in early 2012, I thought it was cheap and not that anticipated compared to AC2 but that's my op
2. The game is watered down in weapons like bomb crafting and hidden guns (replaced with poison daggers and a range of pistols)
3. I was expecting connor havinga third blade in the shoe to reference the fact he's the third assassin's creed character (like altair have 1 blade and ezio having 2), but no we get a stupid folding knife that was pointless.
4. The fighting system was way too complicated and was harder kill the enemy especially even without their armoury (especially killing a highlander with a kilt wtf)
5. The lock on is terrible, especially using any firearms and bow & arrow, It literally can't target properly and even if I have the target locked on and shoot it, nothing happens and they're still alive wtf.
6. They took out the hidden locations that were fun in the Ezio trilogy
7. The new assassin hideout in the modern era is badly designed
8. The stealth is terrible, even when you hid in a perfect position the enemy will still see you?
9. Escaping in this game is dreadful, every enemy all of a sudden pops up when one of them spot you, when you scale up building they shoot up with guns and your dead instantly.
10. The main protagonist, Connor is such Brat and a Tw*t, he wasn't anything like Ezio or Altair? he just lunges in battles without any tactics or plans, even his father Haytham was more interesting and therefore Connor has no character development, feels like a guy I see on the street that I feel like to punch him in the face.
11. The sub-boss Daniel Cross is really useless boss in the game and easily gets his A$$ handed to Desmond, looks like he's mentally retarded.
12. The multiplayer is awful and characters in it are unlikable
13. The final boss fight for Connor and Desmond were both lazy and undramatic, Connor escaped from a destroyed building and hangs out with main antagonist at local pub then kills him? same laziness towards Desmond's final battle were he kills Warren easily with the apple of eden? I'm sorry but that was just cr@p, I'd expect to see a big battle or something were Warren has a smart plan to counter Desmond (I've been dreaming of this since the first AC came out).
14. The ending was much like Mass Effect 3, were the ending gives you ONE option and main protagonist dies? I wanted more of Desmond to develop as a character and see him as the chosen one like Neo of The Matrix, but sadly Desmond didn't show much of his great moment in this game compared to the previous installments.
15. The story was the weakest of all AC games, nuff said
For those who are AC fans, stay away from this game as possible, worst game of 2012
Brick Mansions (2014)
Funny and yet underrated
Most of the films this year don't have much Martial Arts flick these days and this film is NOT a Hollywood remake, it's Canadian now that I brought that out of the way lets begin my review.
Like many fans, I use to watch the original District 13 film and it's sequel D13: Ultimatum, a couple of years ago when free-running was popular , Brick Mansions seems to be an alternate reality to the original (because I don't treat it only as a remake, but as it's own story), here are some difference I'm going to point out:
Lino-still the same from D13, but doesn't seem to get along with Damien a lot. David's performance is probably the strongest and most liked.
Damien-unlike the original, this film shows more about Damien's Father (a cop) that got shot dead by Termaine and wants to get revenge instead of bringing justice like the original. Paul Walker was no Cyril in this film as the fights could've been longer, but he did a decent job though.
Lola-She's actually Lino's Girlfriend, which is just a big step to change the films plot, the original had her being a sister of Leito, also in this film she work in a Cafe instead of a store. As for the actress, she seemed a bit too womanly in this film while the original was just a normal girl.
Termaine-He was more lighter side in this film as he was elected as mayor after he confessed to Damien about killing his father, also he doesn't die like the original, instead he's spared. Also in this remake, RZA's character is Black unlike the original, so RZA did average I would say.
K2-was shown more of a coward in this version unlike the original. Like Termaine, was also black in this film, the actor gave a funny performance so I would let him off.
Yeti-Unlike the original, he is shown more often shown chasing Lino & Damien, also the original was kinda unrealistically beefy. Not much I could say really.
Now for the bad points that disappointed me: *Vin Diesel dubbing David Belle/Lino-At first I already knew Vin dubbed him and I didn't mind it, but there was 1 mistake in a scene where Damien referred to Lino "French A**hole", this kinda put me off because it's obvious Vin didn't do a French accent and instead used his natural voice. Also they could've used David's natural voice, this film would be better and I hope they release a DVD to give the option to listen to David's voice instead.
*The Ending-unlike the original, once the Mayor of Detroit was arrested, they allow Termaine to be Mayor (The same guy who was the leader of a drug gang?) and everything was back to normal and children playing around?
Overall: Though the action was great, The story was okay and the cast was as well. I only went to see this film because of David Belle (famous Traceur), Paul Walker (because he died and I thought I'd see what he did on his last film) and because I'm a fan of the original.
Now if your a fan of the District 13 series or like Martial art films, watch the action in this instead of the story because it was well revised as well choreographed. If your into the story, well......treat it like an ALTERNATE REALITY to the original.
don't know if I could recommend it to you, but the action won't disappoint you ;), even though the original is honestly better, until I see a Director's cut edition for the movie to release on DVD, maybe I can re-think my rating.
D13-9/10
D13:Ultimatum-8/10
Brick Mansions-7/10
Well at least it was better than that rubbish "Free-runner(2011)", at least this film had a a decent story LOL.
Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya-jin da Son Gokû (1991)
Enjoy this more than DBZ Kai
I actually like this more than the recently Remake of the series (Kai) which released on the channel "Kix", so anyways this film was what I always wanted, my favourite rock band "Disturbed" composed some songs in it and the voice cast from Kai in it (except for Gohan and Bulma I think), don't know why people don't like the English ver, I just think that the rock music fits in with all the action and I couldn't be bothered watching it in Japanese because I couldn't understand it, I can't be bothered reading the subtitles, Goku has a stupid chipmunk voice and the cr*p music. It's just my opinion so if you want to watch it in Japanese thats fine, but the English offers more if your into rock and anime.
Tekken: Buraddo benjensu (2011)
better Tekken film then the other 2
apart from the nude scene from Shin Kamiya, kinda miss that guy since he was awesome in the film, even though this was a girly film its also better than the other 2 rubbish Tekken film this one was actually better. But they should make a sequel because they didn't explain how Alisa ended up in a cell when Lars found her in Tekken 6 scenario mode, and namco should put shin in the future Tekken game also i recommend that this film won't be a let down to a Tekken fan because the final fight scene was epic and thought how would Jin fight in a Tekken film. the voices were not too bad to me anyways. finally a film with a plot line related to the Tekken franchise
