Granted I only watched the first ep but I doubt I will be watching any more. As everyone else said, Hill House was excellent. Pretty much the only horror thing I've ever liked. I recall after the first episode being super compelled and I binged that show with great excitement. And of course I'm going to compare this show to that one. First of all the acting is worse or at least the casting. Like what is up with the gardener being a thin and attractive girl? Makes zero sense. There's nothing about the first ep that drew me in. Creepy kids and a lady in the lake yeah yeah. I'm being pretty harsh, it actually seems like an ok show, but with so much incredible tv out there I don't think this is worth my time.
Every millisecond of this show is trying to be funny, which doesn't quite work. It's like that one girl you know who tries way too hard to get people to like her.
Some really great laughs mixed in there, but the majority of the jokes are bad. So overall it feels sour.
I say it's worth a watch if you're super baked. Or if you really click with this sense of humour, cause I can see some people loving this show.

Endlessly compelling and very emotionally intense. Never have I felt more compassion for a character than for the main girl. Perfectly acted and they did an exceptional job at showing the girls internal turmoil and helplessness. I just wanted someone to hug her and tell her it was going to be ok.
And another thing I kept thinking about was how the two main detective women are major female role models. If Hollywood wants tips on how to nail the 'strong female' role, they need to look no further. This crushes the bechdel test. Also hopefully proves to everyone that you can have a mostly female cast and not have it be a gimmick.
