Between (2015)
Watch any other thing on Netflix!!! This is one to AVOID
I love most Netflix Original Shows... I loved 'Orange is the New Black' and 'Daredevil' and I hear that 'House of Cards' and 'lily hammer' and 'Hemlock Grove' and 'The Fall' and shows like those are good too.
So obviously I'm going to give 'Between' a chance. Big mistake. Lesson learned that just because Netflix has a lot of successes it can also have its flops, and this was one of them.
I watched the first two episodes of this show and this is what I saw...
Bad acting.
Plot holes galore.
Cheap sets.
Bad scripting with laughable dialogue.
Bad directing.
The story is one dimensional and boring.
Nothing makes sense.
Nothing makes sense.
Nothing makes sense.
Oh, and did I mention how bad the acting was?
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Good effort but not great
I'd say that the film was excellent.... for the first 30 minutes up until the point in which Hulk first see's Liv Tyler's Betty Ross.
The performances are excellent... Edward Norton is an excellent Bruce Banner, plus Tim Roth and William Hurt are outstanding in supporting roles.
And then theirs Liv Tyler... the worst actress in a Marvel film. Not only is her character absolutely one note and useless, Liv Tyler's performance doesn't make matters better. She's unbelievable, and wooden. I wanted to knock myself unconscious whenever she had screen time. She did nothing whatsoever to contribute, and only pumped out wooden dialogue one after another.
The visual effects are top notch. The final battle scene between Hulk and the Abomination is eye popping and well designed and crafted. Virtually all of Hulk's scenes stand out. His facial expressions are breathtakingly realistic.
The script works and then doesn't. It fails to provide an emotional pull as well as generally having a lack of character development. It works best with dialogue, and introducing characters, but fails to do anything with them afterward.
As I stated previously the first 40 minutes of The Incredible Hulk is top notch. It is emotional, it is satisfying. It is good.
Some bits work, others don't. Its not great. But at least it isn't formatted like 2003's Hulk was.
The Fosters: Metropolis (2014)
Solid Episode
I should have reviewed all the episodes but being lazy, didn't Just watched this one so, I decided to finally review one.
This episode is well set up, well characterized. And somewhat enjoyable. It keeps you interested. You learn more about the characters. It's sad, exciting, scary, thrilling. All in one.
Great episode of The Fosters! It was solid entertainment!
Brandon must have been the best part of this episode. You feel his jealousy of Wyatt and Callie.
Plus, I enjoyed the hole side thing with Jesus and the girl. Of course I don't get how it got to that point but it did.
The Walking Dead: Live Bait (2013)
Solid episode, with great character development.
This was an excellent episode of the walking dead, which solely features The Governor, and Ricks Group and the Prison are completely absent. This episode perfectly develop what's happened to the Governor sents he shot all his men. I felt this was a very emotionally solid episode with crisp writing and a great introduction to a bundle of new cast members I found this episode to be entertaining and exciting. This is one of my favorite episodes of The Walking Dead I've seen this season. Great production values and plenty of gore! The cast gives out wonderful performances, and the little girl is truly adorable. The character development tells just how much The Governor has changed sense the shoot out. I guess The Walking Dead hasn't lost their skills with their writing as they do have some decent twist here and there. Check this episode out!
The Michael J. Fox Show: Neighbor (2013)
Michael J. Fox is a good actor but his show isn't so good.
I don't know, I just disliked this. It's only 50%. Not a fresh sow rotten. The acting is only mediocre. Michael J. Fox try's hi best but his acting abilities have somewhat faded The scrip for this episode was horribly weak. The show has no jokes what so ever, and every time the episode tried to crack a joke, the joke just fell flat. Michael J. Fox should stick to voicing the lead in animated films as that's what he's best at during the current moment. The cast is bland at best, and the plot is just held together by a string, and nothing comes off as interesting. The characters themselves are lame and Juliette Goglia's character, Eva who is Michael J. Fox's daughter comes off as an annoying jerk, who is just unlikable. Altogether, the show just feel off, and un-necessary. I truly fell this show should just be pulled, not worth wasting time on this one. Michael j. Fox is trying but this show isn't the one to do that with.
Modern Family: Baby on Board (2012)
Not a bad episode, good.
This was a pretty decent episode. I liked the on going relationship of gay couple, Cam, and Mitchel, it was great, you really understand there feelings. We also got a better character in, Haley Dunphy. She had good development altogetehr int his episode. There was this one thing i found a fail, and it was Alex's date to prom, a gay guy who doesn't know he's gay. It was extremely forced and very weird. I found when the Hispanic people were arguing int he hospital, funny. I donno why it just felt like Cam, and Mitchel were thrown into a Spanish soap opera. It was funny to me. Altogether a decent episode, not bad ending to the season. This is now the second episode of Modern Family that i have watched. Too bad we didn't get much from the other characters in this episode.
Modern Family: Pilot (2009)
Not bad, kinda funny. Ty Burrell is the star of the show!
This show has been on the air for about 4 years now, and i had not seen a single episode until i watched the pilot on demand today. And my thoughts, i think it's funny, the scripts are decent, and while the plot is all over the place and there are a bit to many cast members i thinks it's a decent show. Ty Burrell is the star of the cast. His acting is funny, and his character lovably childish and silly. My favorite scene from the episode is that of when he accidentally shoots his son on the hand and then shoots Sarah Hyland's boyfriend and then himself. It was hilarious. I loved it. The show also has a gay couple, which i feel was a good addition, i mean it's different, and different is good. This show also has a Hispanic family with a wife who marries an old guy, which i felt was pushing it but in the end it all worked out. I think they could have done better to cut Ariel Winter's character as she has little use to the cast and there's already so many characters. I just feel this show has an excellent script and will probably have many good episodes out there! i'll have to rent the rest! A success!
The Neighbors: September Fools (2013)
So-So. Kinda clever episode.
OK, so i never really liked 'The Neighbors' to begin with but it had been a year sense i last saw the show so i watched an episode. So i have to admit this is a step-up from the episode i had viewed last year, believe me. The scripting was OK, not that great not to bad. You know so-so. the jokes, they're few. but i did find a plot twist or two int here. I did find the September Fools Jokes funny for the most part. And it seems the cast are having fun in this episode. The idea's pretty original, to me. For the most part the episode was so-so. It was only OK. And was it only me or is Ian Patrick's character really, really annoying to listen too? That guy makes me wanna punch him for no reason, he just irritates me. The side story with the Chinese kid going to drop off his soul mate was OK, not anything great but sets up for farther interesting episodes with himself, his girlfriend, and his soulmate, so i'm up for it. Not to good, still surprised the show's still airing. Got some interesting ideas but starting to wear off greatly , as episodes pass. Maybe int he future i'll watch another episode.
Dads: Pilot (2013)
Racist, and Unfunny. Seth Green you picked the wrong show to go on.
I cannot put words into how mixed my feelings are on this one. I mean as much as i love Seth Green, he couldn't have picked a worse show to star in. His acting is great and all but this show is just so unlikable. The show is extremely racist to both Asian Americans and Koreans and i just cringed at it all. This episode is so racist i'm surprised it even aired. I am just so upset by the writing. And they think racist jokes are funny? Gimme a break. None of the gags are funny. None. they are all fails. This episode solely deflated any chance of me tuning into another episode. I'm sure my thoughts are shared by many others. Epic fail. And the two dads they are extremely annoying they aren't even funny, They're just annoying and idiots if you ask me. Bad just bad.
The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror XXIV (2013)
Excellent! Entertaining, Funny, sharp voice acting, and excellent animation! Never bores.
I usually don't watch 'The Simpsons' but i somehow found this episode on demand for free and sense i didn't have anything else to watch i turned this on. And surprisingly this is pretty good actually. While the opening dragged when they got onto the first story which makes fun of 'The Cat in the Hat' things get funny. I donno why but i found it well timed and just pretty clever. What with all the rhyming even though at times i couldn't understand what Bart and Lisa were saying but that was only a minor issue. The second story was with Bart getting his head cut off and having it put on Lisa's body. While i found this one a bit less thought out it wasn't horrible, and was pretty entertaining. The last story was this thing about circus freaks and to em that one was the best. Homor was excellently funny and that part was wells scripted. Loved the ending segment funny as heck. The animation and voice work as always was excellent, and the jokes weren't to bad. I will have to watch another episode of 'The Simpsons' not a bad show after all!
Mom: Pilot (2013)
This is great! Funny, and excellently scripted, with a great performance from Anna Faris.
I can't believe how much I actually enjoyed this show! I found it beautifully scripted, original, solid acting, and funny. The plot for this one basically sets the show up for future episodes and I found that it was done with ease. Anna Faris gives probably one of her best performances as a depressed, single, alcohol recovery person who has 2 children and a mom who she despises. I loved every scene she had it was funny, and award winning to me. This is something I found very original. I never have seen anything like this before. I loved every moment of the show. I will definitely be watching this show again! i'll probably even buy a DVD of this season! hopefully it'll get renewed. Good Job Anna Faris you are not a disgrace to acting!
We Are Men: Pilot (2013)
Excellently casted, and somewhat funny, but the script is mild, and not so original
This is a show that I didn't expect to be great and it wasn't. The acting is great believe me, and this show contains a few decent laughs, but the script is horrible and the show is overall nothing original. Somehow this guy just hangs out with these 3 older men, even though us viewers are never told how he met the 3 men. Which confused me. Tobey Shaloub is funny as heck as is jerry O'Connell. Kal Penn isn't really given anything as is the lead, who is somewhat good, Chris Smith. The script is only so-so, not very original. Nothing that happens is very surprising. The plot is mostly random but it is held together by a string I would think. Altogether this was the second show of the fall 2013 t.v schedule that was canceled, after Lucky 7. I kinda expected that as the show could be over shadowed by more original fare. Probably won't tune in to watch another episode as it didn't really interest me.
Super Fun Night: Anything for Love (2013)
OK i guess, not great but funny sometimes
I can't say I found this great but it wasn't bad, I just don't find it very funny, now it has some moments of pure laughs but otherwise the episode isn't very funny. The acting is mostly mediocre, while Rebel Wilson seems to be the only light on that side, she seems to have loads of fun, and the plot just doesn't seem very original. Not a lot of fun is done on this episode, for me. But as I said before the show can be surprisingly funny, and Rebel Wilson is surprisingly good. While I feel it could have been better casted, well the supporting roles anyway I found this to be a little better then worse so it stays fresh with a rating of 6.
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland: Down the Rabbit Hole (2013)
Mediocre, just a pain to sit threw! Once Upon a Time is better!
This is a truly overrated show. I just couldn't sit through it. I hated it. The visual effects aren't that good, the caterpillar and chestier cat look very fake, the script is cheesy, and the cast and acting is horrible. The script is so uninspired. the whole opening is dull and boring I just didn't care for it. Once in wonderland the scenery looks so fake it's horrible, I just couldn't get over that. Plus, we have a lead as Alice, who is so unconvincing it's pitiful, Sophie Lowe does share good chemistry with Peter Gadiot, and Michael Socha, but still I felt her performance mediocre at best. John Lithgow's voice work fits the White Rabbits personality but his voice doesn't match the characters lip movements. The plot is all over the place and the story has nothing to do with the original book. This is pitiful.
The Millers: Pilot (2013)
Funny! Great performances from the cast!
I actually found this hilarious, even though it contains a bit to many fart jokes. But the show looks pretty funny, even though kinda dumb, the show is well scripted and I kinda find it funny to watch. Margo Martindale is the stand out of the cast, her performance is funny, and wonderfully wrote out. I loved her lines and she was just very funny. Will Arnett might not be excellent but he gives a decent performance nothing that'll make you give him a golden award but he still gave a decent performance if not mediocre. Beau Bridges gives a pretty nice performance and he's actually funny to me. While this show isn't the greatest show out there it's still pretty nice, and funny, so i'll stay tuned! B
The Walking Dead: 30 Days Without an Accident (2013)
Disappointing Opening for Season 4 - 2 Stars
I disliked this opening episode. It introduced at least a dozen characters with out any character development and the story wasn't there, the episode really had no meaning. The whole thing with Rick going with that girl to her little camp to ask her and her husband three questions was totally un-necessary and a waste of running time. This episode really provides us with nothing. Not a good episode probably one of the weakest episodes I've watched. There was one scene I enjoyed, with Beth and Daryl talking in the prison block, it kinda is depressing and horrific that you know the girls right. That was a memorable scene, plus there was this one new character i'd like to get to know better, Bob Stookey the actor who lays him gives a pretty descent performance. The ending which involves the boy dying and turning into a zombie makes no sense and the writers don't even try to explain why ye changed. D+
Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)
Underrated Disney Movie , that got better characters are less singing, but still not Little Mermaid
This has got to be one of the most underrated Disney films ever released. The film's got excellent voice work, from the lead, Michael J. Fox, excellent character development, and animation. The films very entertaining and contains a great script, not so full of laughs but still. The film definitely isn't any Beauty and the Beast or Little Mermaid, but it's still classic Disney, just not so musical, which is good, as I feel Disney forgets plot for singing nowadays. Just gotta give the film a chance. And I know i'm not the only one who looked up 'Tommy Lee Jones' to see if he voiced the soldier guy who is the main villain at the end. It sounds just like Tommy Lee Jones. B
Song of the South (1946)
Excellent Disney film! Should be release on DVD in the USA
I had the chance to view Song of the South from a Chinese laser disk, and the film is excellent It's just too bad the film isn't getting released on DVD in the USA. The film is perfect Disney. The live action scenes are excellent, the acting is excellent the cast is excellent. Probably my favorite part of the film is the animated parts. The voice acting is great, and the animation is spot on. The whole animated sequences are excellently told. I just loved this film. I don't care how racial it can be taken as. Get over it, we were who we were back then. This film should not have to suffer in the vaults. If there is any film that should be kept in a vault in would be the ones with sex, violence all of this. But yet they are all out in the markets, being in the theaters and Song Of The South a sweet family film is being kept away. Give me a break Disney release the film already!
Monkeybone (2001)
Too dark fr kids yet too random for adults just nothing watchable for anybody.
This is a very displeasing film from Brendan Fresher's hit or miss film bag. While the idea original, and the voice work from John Turturro as Monkey bone is top notch, this film just feels too dark for kids and too random for anyone else. There's just no effort to make the plot watchable. Everything just breezes through, with loads of unfunny, random scenes, with one dimensional characters. The animation is unbearable and the world of the coma is ugly and dark. Brendan Frasher gives an OK performance and the jokes are just not there. Mostly this is just a forgettable film that came out in a February. he character development is horrible and we just don't find any reason to enjoy the story or to want Brendan's character to come out of a coma. D-
The Hunchback of Notre Dame II (2002)
Cheap, Ugly, and Poor sum up this mess.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 is a totally cheep looking, and poorly made film that's too short too give us any character development, and the voice work is terrible. The animation is b movie grade, and we have a very weak villain. The villain is unlike Frollo from the original-horrible. He's laughable. He's not even scary he's like a clown, and just doesn't make for a dark villain. The voice work is unprofessional from the new cast members. This is a good example of how not to do a sequel, while Jennifer Love Hewitt puts a cheerful energetic voice into her character it's overall mediocre compared to Demi Moore's perfect voice. This is a slow kiddie flick made for 2 year olds by 3 year olds. D-
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
One of the most Disappointing Disney Animated Films.
This has got to be one of my least favorite Disney Films. It support's a weak script, un- necessary characters, and has a poor over all message. This film didn't take the books material to best use. This could have been stretched out further, and half of the screen time is spent on the lesser characters. Quasimodo should have had more screen time. The voice work and villain are top notch and so is the animation but everything else is a total disaster. The villain gets very little screen time but when he does get screen time it's dark, and suspenseful. Tom Hulce and Tony Jay support excellent voice work as their characters. The voice work is deep, provoking, original, and emotionally depth. Overall this is a very disappointing Disney Animated Film. D+
A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
Unwanted sequel. Poorly executed.
This couldn't live up to the better previous entries in this tired series. This film includes poor lighting , so it's very dark and i'm un able to tell whats going on have of the time, and a very weak plot that only adds a son to the plot that rushes quickly threw. The villains are weak and the words on the screen to small to read that you can't tell what the villains are saying. Just poorly executed and directed, with cheesy one-liners. The jokes seem forced and are extremely un-needed and are unfunny. Even my Dad who's a Die Hard fan disliked the film greatly and asked for the first film to be played again midway through this. This was a fail. A Good Day to Die Hard should really die hard now. D
Jack Reacher (2012)
Good Mystery not great but something to watch on a rainy day.
Jack Reacher, now this was a good mystery, it wasn't anything great, but a film I wouldn't mind owning in the future, Tom Cruise's performance was funny and excellent, the script was solid, great cast, and a few sly laughs, fairly entertaining, above average crime movie by and inch. Just a small film that will be forgotten in time but still good, but the ending was still a disappointment, didn't really excite. The film couldn't really find the right tone. he film shifts between seriousness and comedy. Just doesn't pick one to keep. Tom Cruise really enjoyed making this and you can tell by his excellent performance, you know the kind of performance he usually saves for Mission Impossible. B-
Struck by Lightning (2012)
Horribly Upsetting film that ends just as the title says with a poor resolution.
Oh man this is garbage. I can't like it. I just can't. This is a horribly terribly upsetting movie, that includes poor characters , horrible p,lot and ending, and no character development, the story doesn't really wrap all the tight ends tight enough, and this movie just falls apart. Basically by the end of the movie everyone hates him, he can't get a good education and go tot he college he wants to his movie is on drugs, and hates her, and his fathers a jerk who is married and having a baby to another person and then he dies and has a horrible funeral. The characters just don't meet good resolutions. I want to watch a movie that starts out bad but ends on a good note. Not some sappy film about a teen who's got a hard life and dies at the end. Oh my god. F
Evil Dead (2013)
Alittle too Gory, but still a great horror film with excellent acting from Jane Levy.
One of the better horror films that have been released and one of the better films of the year. Evil Dead, is disgusting and a bit few on character development and contains a few questionable acts from the characters, but is mostly good. Evil Dead is fun, gory, exciting, scary, and just contains a fresh cast of faces that you cheer on till they die. Or live... The film might be a bit to gory but is helped by Jane Levy who is a star in the making. Her performance sent chills through my body. I got a sense of a new Jamie Lee Curtis in her, agree? This was well directed and while a bit dumb minded still good. The character development is a bit poor but we get to know the characters at least a little before they meet there ends. One of the better horror films and one of the better films of the year. B
