This film is an exhilarating blend of excitement and humor. I enjoyed it immensely, watching it several times, and I eagerly anticipate future works from this director and writer. It is perplexing to see some individuals label her as a narcissist in various blogs, as this characterization seems unfounded. In major Hollywood productions, a singular star often takes the spotlight, yet the scrutiny directed at Deuandra Brown is unwarranted. It is strange that those who have never interacted with her feel compelled to hurl insults. Numerous celebrities, including Tyler Perry, Tom Cruise, Will Smith, and Beyoncé, have successfully created, written, and starred in their own films without encountering similar criticism. Many fail to recognize that a significant number of films featuring well-known actors are produced by them. Figures like Blake Lively, Tom Cruise, Mark Wahlberg, Jamie Foxx, and Brad Pitt all serve as producers of their projects, and the stars are often the very individuals behind the scenes. Every prominent figure in the industry typically holds some production role, whether as a producer, director, or writer, granting them creative authority. Is the negative attention on Deuandra a result of her being a woman and an independent filmmaker? There is nothing in her demeanor that indicates narcissism; she collaborates with numerous actors who consistently speak highly of her. If she were genuinely narcissistic, her films would center exclusively on her, which is not the case. Instead, her work highlights a diverse array of talent, demonstrating her generosity and kindness as a filmmaker.
I went to the Plum Red Carpet Premiere, and I really enjoyed Plum. You have to be open minded to understand this film, you must really listen to get the best understanding, it's very mysterious and it will play some mind games with you. Some of the characters are funny and this film is rather deep. I loved it, and I must say even though this was an indie film, that was a low budget, I felt there was a good story line. There was one intense scene close to the end of the movie where the audience was quiet and glued to the screen, I was shock to see what Plum saw when she looked into the mirror, it was a huge surprise, I wasn't expecting some of the scenes that I saw in this movie. Well Done!
