Terrible. Utterly terrible.
21 June 2021
I don't even know where to begin with the utter failure that this episode embodies. The script, the dialogue, the tone, the anachronisms, the inconsistencies....it's all here. Who even OK'd this? Skip this one and you won't be disappointed....and you really won't be missing much in the way of character and story progression.

Never Expect An Honest Sequel To A Highly Popular Movie Franchise...
7 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The Good:
  • The strong acting performance of Jessica Chastain
  • The acting and comedic timing of Bill Hader
  • The acting and comedic timing of Bill Skarsgård
  • The few interesting visuals

The Bad:
  • Unnecessarily convoluted story line (which adheres to tightly to the source material in many ways for it's own good, and veers too far from it in many others)
  • The sub-par acting of McAvoy, Mustafa, Ryan and Ransone.
  • The insertion of "woke" aspects to the story line for no good reason (A common problem with sequels to popular franchises these days)
  • The lack of genuine tension building. It's as if they were trying to see how many cheap scares could cram into a nearly 3 hour movie.
  • The matter-of-factness that permeates nearly every ridiculous conversation in this movie.
(SPOILER) The preposterousness of the ending. Pennywise deserved better. His withering-away to the Losers chants of "You're just a clown!" is both ludicrous (given what we know about Pennywise intellect, personality and power) and extremely unfair to the character. The concept of reducing Pennywise into a shivering blob of nerves by attacking his pride and belittling him is not an inherently bad idea, it was just executed so poorly and so cheaply.

The Ugly:
  • My neck and lower back after sitting through this 3 hour monstrosity. The fact is that this movie could've easily been whittled-down to around 2 hours and achieved the same or better results.

Too Meta....A movie that only Hollywood could love.
26 July 2019
As a die-hard Tarantino fan I felt a tad let-down by this, his latest effort (and last if we are to believe what he's been saying) It's just too self-referential, which makes it difficult to fully get into the characters and the plot....wait....was there a plot? There seemed to be a thin veneer of a plot, which is not un-Tarantino like; but it seemed to wander aimlessly at times. While it has it's moments (mostly of the surreal variety), I feel like this was a movie made for Hollywood. Almost an inside joke for Hollywood insiders....and a movie that only Hollywood could love.

Very Poor Interpretation of This Story
6 February 2006
Just finished watching this one online. If you got 19 minutes of your life you want to throw away then go ahead and check it out for yourself. Aside from the lovely scenery, this movie fails on all fronts and the acting takes the tone that was set so beautifully in the story and throws it out the window. Horrible choice of actor for the part of the man in the black suit....you're better off sticking to what you had pictured in your head while reading. I hope Stephen King never gets a chance to see this. They butchered what was great story.

Could've been so much better.
